Had such a horrible experience…read moresome time ago that this kind of treatment made me afraid and therefore very reluctant to ever have acupuncture again. I had needles inserted in 3 different areas of my body ( forehead, shoulders and lower back) for pain. All 3 spots bled, especially my forehead which bled profusely and even the bandages that were hastily applied to my lower back were soaked. The acupuncturist was in a big hurry and really didn't care about my physical health nor my emotional well being. I never went back. Unfortunately I tried another acupuncturist elsewhere in Lethbridge. Same thing , he was also in a hurry and left 3 needles in my body, this time in the back of one leg and it was only when I was getting dressed that I felt these needles still in and of course I was bleeding again from my back leg. He was still in the building and hastily removed them and said something to the effect that if I ever left with inserted needles , just to pull them straight out myself !! Obviously he never bothered to count the number of needles applied. Now, more than 2 years later I had an initial acupuncture treatment on my lower back. Though I was apprehensive about the procedure, it went very well for my lower back pain and NO BLOOD came running out. This was done by my physiotherapist and the whole treatment, including acupuncture was very effective. I have been told by a few experienced people who have used acupuncture extensively in their athletic pursuits for years, that acupuncture should NOT draw blood ever. So BE Wise , if the acupuncturist is nervous and in a big hurry, you will not have a good experience. Remember, it is your body and you have to live in it.
