I must object to previous positive reviews. The unique weekly menu is what drew me to visit but I…read morewas greatly disappointed. Now as a native Texan I KNOW bbq and this missed the mark. I believe with just a few changes it could live up to the hype. They were out of pork belly, for it to not be a daily menu item I was disappointed. Ribs weren't tender, cheese in sausage got cold which gave it a weird texture and made it chewy- after that, the pair didn't mix well. The mac and cheese was loaded with cheese sauce, more like soup. I really liked the corn dressing but the sweet barbecue sauce was overpowering. I'm not sure if it was raspberry or cherry but I would've preferred an original sauce on the side. The tacos lacked flavor. A very mediocre $90 meal. It may be that demographic area that took a liking to Space City and I admire the support but I could count numerous other bbq joints that'll blow them out of the water.

The spot has a lot going for it, even if a few tweaks could land it in the top 50. The brisket was a highlight--moist, delicious, and seasoned simply with salt, pepper, and garlic (SPG), letting the quality of the meat shine through. The ribs had a good pull and weren't too "hammy" for a spare rib, though I found the seasoning a bit heavy. The pork belly burnt ends were a great cut of meat, with a rich, buttery flavor and a savory fat cap. While they were good, I personally prefer a sweeter burnt end with less garlic. The jalapeño and cheese sausage was my least favorite of the meal. The double-grind texture was nice, but it lacked a rich, deep flavor, and the use of a white cheese instead of the traditional cheddar was an unexpected choice. As for the sides, the cornbread casserole was a delicious and mild-flavored classic. The pinto beans were a standout, packed with flavor and elevated by the inclusion of pork belly burnt ends mixed in. Overall, this is a very good barbecue spot, but it leans a bit heavily on its seasoning. I'd definitely recommend checking it out, especially when the weather is a bit cooler.
