Normally I prefer to shop in the small bookshops because I like helping the little guy out. However, there are times when I want to be dazzled by row upon row of glistening paperbacks. That's when I go to the Eason on O' Connell Street. There are other Easons but the big one has the best selection and atmosphere. There's the ground floor where you can look at newspapers and magazines for free and where there's the occasional book signing. The first floor sells stationary and the top floor has a Tower Records and a coffee shop. In the basement, they have language and school books. Basically all your intellectual needs are fulfilled in the Eason on O'Connell Street.

I love Eason's it is a great book shop. I go here if I want to get the latest Dorothy Koomson novel or just to have a browse at the many other wonderful books. Not only do they have books they have magasines, confectionary, cards and various other bits and bobs. If you are looking for a book you will always find it in Eason's.

Fantastic stationery, newsagent and book shop. Spread over several floors-very well equipped and friendly staff. Loved the cafe

The best of the stores in the Eason chain. Chapters is the place to go if you want something interesting or out of the norm. Eason is the place to go when you want something mainstream. Their travel section (a lot of great guide books and phrase books) and their magazine section (everything under the sun) are both great. They have a good range of stationery too - it's the only place I've found that sells ring binders and plastic sleeves and stuff. Prices are about the usual but they do have good specials - check them on the website. TIP: If the main counter (O'Connell Street end) is busy, go to the one down the back (looks more like a newsagency counter). They have drinks and stuff too. You can pay by Laser and they will give you cashback. Good stuff.

A great store with amazing stock. I love that they get in so many different magazines like foreign Vogue.

Going about business with a quiet stalwart dignity, unfazed by trends and the need to be shiny and the next new hip thing, instead very much it's own. This place sells books, well curated second hand and new ones. The selection is pretty good considering they don't have a lot of space, and I love the way they are laid out on the central tables so you can have a gawp or a good auld rummage. That's exactly the pleasure of this place too; you go in for a look and leave with something unexpected. It's not really a bookshop you go to with a singular book in mind to purchase - sure we have Chapters for that, this place is far more enchanting and perhaps, some might say, disorganized. There's also a great second hand music store in the back (Freebird Records) with a brill Blues section and decently priced CDs and vinyl too. Long may this place last. Go in with no expectations and you may well find yourself charmed.

As we walked by, we saw a sign that said, "Secret Book & Record Store", with an arrow pointing into a deep narrow hallway with posters of advertisements covering the walls. These places are the great finds in Dublin. At the end of the hall was a large room filled with used books, vintage vinyl & new releases including CDs. The store was a frezy of customers flipping through the bins of vinyl to find that one great band from their past. I did find a few old 80s punk albums but still on a quest today to find an original GBH or Exploited cover.

I only scratched this book store's surface, but did leave with nice literary journal and a book of poems titled Brink. The fellow old guy behind the counter pretty much left everybody along, and in my judgement not only knowing the time and being willing to tell you how the watch operated.
