Earthly Matters' Jorge and Cesar did a fantastic job on my Indian Hills Ranch exterior paint job. I am a very demanding homeowner that expects a quality job for a fair price. I also write up detailed contracts for all of my home repair projects on exactly what I want done, how I want it done, and exactly the type of paint to use. I had three different painters refuse to take the job just because of the contract. Earthly Matters took it on. Jorge and I walked the house and reviewed all aspects of the repairs I wanted done, new PVC fascia, multiple paint colors, and how many coats I wanted. Their team was top notch. I had Earthly Matters come and give me a quote and re-stain my deck. I signed a contract for $1900 re-staining the deck 10x10ft. and stairs. A job that took 2 days. Within 11 months the mildew started to appear. When I complained they simply stated that there was no guarantee on decks. Then why give me a very impressive brochure just turn down the job. No one wants a job done with no guarantee on the work performed. I had paid less when I did the whole deck 3 years ago in 3 colors and now within 11 months I had lost $1900! I would never ever hire them again, and if one does, please make sure there is written warrantee. read more

I've used this company twice for house painting (exterior twice, interior once) and both times I've been satisfied with the work. Pat Winchester was the project manager on both jobs. He did an excellent job visiting my house each day to review the work with the crew, make sure I was aware of how things were progressing, and to update me of any changes needed on the job site. During the job the crew discovered some bad pieces of siding that needed to be repaired and Pat had me review them on site, sent pictures for my record, and sent updated costs so that I was aware of the impact to the overall project budget. At the end of the job he made sure the crew took care of every item on the punch list to get fixed before asking for final payment. No home improvement job is going to go perfectly but I feel that Earthly Matters delivers a consistent customer experience not just when they are quoting your job, but all the way through to the end. Do not hire them. Had multiple issues during the job, thank goodness I was home to point them out daily. The 2 biggest issues were too much caulk in the seams of the siding and lack of straight lines when painting 2 colors next to each other. When I brought these concerns to a co owner of the company he told me, that the over lapping caulk was "extra protection" and that his painters did not use tape for straight lines since they were very skilled. When I mentioned that I would post about my experience, he told me "that in spite of my negative review, he would STILL honor my warranty/guarantee". read more

Overall, I will never use this company again. It's been 18 months, paint is cracking, holes in roof... I specifically asked sales guy - no nails/etc in our roof. They did it anyway. Paint is peeling in many places especially on trim for porch. I am looking at another redo of this job during 2020. Find another company! read more

Pros: 1) The quote was very similar to 2 others we got (within a couple hundred dollars) 2) They installed 2 new doors for a really good price 3) Their job was exactly the price they quoted 4) The carpentry used to repair siding & trim was top notch Cons: 1) There are spots on the exterior where their ladder left marks. It has been 9 months with many promises to return to fix which hasn't happened yet. 2) Their quote was to completely clean out gutters. They didn't do downspouts. Not sure if that was a misunderstanding, but it is certainly not what was expected. We didn't notice until the first rainstorm, and considering how hard it has been to get them to return to fix the painting... Overall, I wish we would have gone with a different company due to lack of follow through. If you say you're going to make something right, you should make it a priority. I wish I would have held onto payment until everything was completed to satisfaction. However, I went ahead and paid them because they claimed they would return the following week to fix the paint, and their ladders were on the side of our house. They did return the following week but only to collect their ladders. Lesson learned. read more

Just finished having my house exterior painted by Earthly Matters. They did a superior job, including replacing a significant amount of wood that needed special attention . They showed up on schedule, cleaned up after themselves every afternoon, and completed the job on time. I work through Brian Shapiro and he was excellent at giving me updates and addressing additional items I needed looked at. They worked with me on the choice of paint brand. When the job was over, they put back everything that had to be removed in its proper place. I highly recommend them for your painting needs. read more

If you value your time and money than these guys quotes are too good to be true. 1. exterior painting-the painted all the windows open and did not close them for 36 hours 2. they left my outside water running for over 24 hours 3. interior painting and wall paper removal-had to come back 2 times to re move more paper and repaint walls and still the job is not done to my liking 4. tile replacement-needed 5 or so tiles replaced so instead of removing 1 from an inconspicuous spot in the bathroom they removed all 5 tiles and now they cannot find tiles to match and will not remedy the situation to my satisfaction. read more

Had the house painted in November. With more careful inspection of my 2-story large home, areas of the house were done poorly. One the rails of my deck, which should have been the exact same color as the front porch. They are NOT. Called and asked that they repaint the rails. I got a positive response in November 2016. Put off for four months because here it is, March 2017, and they've yet to be repainted. You can see clear through the paint to the wood, large gapping holes with no paint in them at all. It looks horrible. Would not recommend anyone be the fool that I was, pay entirely before thoroughly inspecting the entire house. And, they told be that the house would be done with two coats of paint. That too was not done. I see bare spots. Do not use them. read more

Wish I could review their work but we never even made it that far. Luis came out to give a quote and was very professional. His quote for interior painting was priced reasonably low so we moved forward with them. Fast forward to the day we were supposed to have the work done and it all went downhill. Luis said his crew would arrive at 8am. At 8:30am there was no one, I text Luis to confirm I had the correct time, he said the crew was on their way. 9:15am, still no one. I called Luis to tell him that nobody still had arrived yet and that this is very unprofessional and its throwing off our entire workday. His response "how is it throwing off your day?" Wow!! That was incredibly rude to say to a client. My husband then called to follow up on what's going on and Louis said the crew went to the wrong house and then laughed and said "look I apologized what else do you want from me?" At that point we canceled the appointment. I was so disappointed that this turned out this way and Luis had no remorse for him and his crews action! read more

So I had my exterior of the house painted and deck railing/steps painted and steps of the deck replaced. The foreman was GREAT - from explanations to keeping me happy.... But - the crew they hire out comes from another city and doesn't really have an invested reason to paint the house correctly, since they are sub-contracting them out. I wish I had known that fact up front. The foreman and I (We) discussed up front that spraying a house would go on as thick or better than hand brushing/rolling. So - I used these guys. Their quote was fair (in the middle). They have so many good reviews on Angie's List - that I went ahead. Now 3 weeks later I notice that the exterior has overlapping where they actually didn;t spray it on some areas, and the rest of the house is too thin. They used less than 7 gallons of paint to cover the entire siding of the house which is almost 4,000 SQ FT.... I didn't realize until after when they left me the unused paint, and up front they only got 10 gallons for the siding. I am contacting them to ask to have it re-done... I really don't know how you would fix overlapping when it was done incorrectly up front. The paint job from the builder lasted 9 years, but this is so thin on the siding areas. Then when you compare the the trim where they hand brushed, so thick !! I woulds say they did a fair job, but for the price of almost $6,000.00 , it needs to be complete and accurate. read more

We recently did a huge remodel of our kitchen, master bed and bath and laundry room. The lead contractor, Erich Protis, did a beautiful, beautiful job. He was referred to us through our kitchen designer. After interviewing three contractors we chose Erich and Earthly Matters. From day one he was professional, honest, friendly organized, and on time. His contractors were the best. Erich spent almost every day on the job and kept things moving along. He was very responsive to all communication and if any problems or questions came up he was quick to respond. I would highly recommend Earthly Matters Contracting. Hired them 2 years ago, paid a lot of money for exterior repairs and paint. Everywhere they patched my exterior wood is peeling away from the wood. Every window sill they replaced, cold air comes into the house because they didn't fit them properly nor were they sealed properly. Called them within the 1st year to complain about improperly caulked seems (cracks were very obvious). He came out and said it would be taken care of and said he noticed some repair issues (patching wood seems) that he would have to be corrected also. His guy came out did not touch the caulk issue, nor the patch issue and just spot painted over nails rusting through the paint because they didn't use any primer. I called them and left a message of what was not taken care of and I never heard back from them again. Terrible customer service. Terrible quality. Costly mistake using this company. Will have to have everything repaired again after only 2 years. read more

We have used earthly matters three times. Each time I am thankful I made them our choice. We have had bad experiences with other contractors. Every time they are spot on with their estimate or we have chosen to upgrade in some fashion. Their workers have been respectful to my home and my property. It is a relaxing can you believe it experience working with them. we have worked with both Robert and Javier, they are truly professionals. They stayed in contact every step of the way they make sure their workers are on time and precise. don't be fooled by lower estimates we were a few times it always turns out you get what you paid for and in my house I want nothing less than perfection and that was earthly matters all three times. read more

Steve gave us a quote that came in much higher than all other contractors, but explained they ensure the job is done right, and done right the first time. We we were moving with a 6 month old and on a tight timeline from an hour away, so his reassurance to us of peace of mind was the deciding factor to spending 40% more. This was an expensive mistake. Steve and his team not only more than tripled the timeline (delaying our move by almost a week and inconveniencing us after we were moved in), but provided shoddy work at best. We had to constantly reach out to Steve for updates - when they would be back, what time they were coming, when they would be done, etc etc. His team left trash and debris throughout our home, and over 20 bags of trash on our lawn. When the job was FINALLY done, we expressed our dissatisfaction, he said that the delay was our fault because we "added extras" - asking them to install about 20 feet of molding to our kitchen cabinets and paint behind a 30" bath vanity, and blamed the imperfections throughout the house on our movers. (We've got photographs of these issues from before the movers!) When it came down to payment, we calculated all the delays, inconvenience, expenses for rent to extend our move date, cost to repair the scratch to our brand new floors, and explained to Steve we didn't feel we should owe the originally quoted amount that had come with (what turned out to be) a false guarantee. Instead, an inflated price and timeline that we could have hired someone to do for 1/3 of the price!!! He agreed verbally to this amount (which was 10-15% off) and accepted our check for payment, which was cashed immediately. 2 weeks later, he emailed saying we owe the full amount or else a lien would be placed on our house! We agreed to pay no more than half - because we just wanted him to go away and get settled into our new home, enjoy the holidays, etc without a battle over such a terrible experience. He accepted, we paid, and now every day we look around at the crap job they did and kick ourselves in the derrière for thinking Earthly Matters was a good choice. I was going to try to avoid leaving a negative review, but tonight I decided to be ambitious and start trying to remove all the paint splatters on what were our brand new wood floors before Earthly Matters happened. They won't come up. Our entire living area constantly looks dirty because of all the white specks on the floor. The floors were scheduled to be installed AFTER Earthly Matters was done to avoid issues but because they blew the timeline, they crossed paths and now we're stuck with the mess forever.
