I DO NOT Recommend Mike Kimball d.b.a. Divergent Drywall Solutions in Dandridge,TN. He advertised…read morea warranty for his work (on his website) & guaranteed me his Work & Customer Satisfaction for 1 Year... to get me to hire him. I hired him to remodel my entire 2 car garage. He did not cover or protect most of the things in my garage then did a horrible popcorn ceiling & paint job & left my garage a total mess with sprayed popcorn texture all over the interior garage door, my garage door opening system, my Red Cedar trim/baseboards & destroyed 3 fans he borrowed from me to dry the ceiling texture. The popcorn ceiling was not installed properly & immediately started cracking/bubbling. The bubbling and cracked ceiling texture HAS NOW STARTED FALLING OFF THE CEILING IN HUNKS onto my car & things stored in the garage. I will have to hire another contractor to come remove the whole defective ceiling job & start over...paying double fees to remove/replace his defective workmanship & product! He has ignored my attempts to contact him for 9 months to come repair his defective workmanship & clean up the the horrible mess he made! I paid him & now he has taken my money & RUN! I have repeatedly requested a copy of his licenses, insurance & bond he said he had. I have never received them or heard from him so I recently called Jefferson County, TN & the City of Dandridge (his home & business address) to verify his business licenses. I was told by both Jefferson County/ Dandridge City that his licenses with them expired 5/15/26. I called the TN State Regulatory Board Licensing Agency & they STATED he has never had a TN State Business License for his LLC Business with them. I have now filed a bad-faith & deceptive business practice complaint with the BBB who is investigating. They recommended I file the same report with TN State Regulatory Licensing Division, State Revenue Division, Consumer Protection/Affairs Agency & Attorney General's Office. (Which I have done.) The Attorney General's office called me & advised me to immediately file a law suit AND file a report with my County's Sheriff's Detectives because one of his employees is trying to intimidate me by staking out my house & watching me. He has bad reviews posted on social media by other people. 2 days ago Angie's List told me by phone & email that they have now removed his business listing from all their websites.

**Disappointing Experience -- Pricing Dispute, Workmanship Issues, and Paint Substitution**…read more We hired James Stone Painting to paint our new home and provided the Sherwin-Williams paint colors we wanted used for the project. Unfortunately, our experience was far below expectations. After quoting us a price and indicating that the job was complete, James demanded an additional $500 beyond the agreed-upon amount. When my wife explained that the agreed price was $500 less, rather than professionally discussing the discrepancy, he accused her of being disrespectful and responded in a confrontational, intimidating manner. He essentially told us that if we did not pay the additional money, we should never call him again. This was an unacceptable way to handle a pricing disagreement with a customer. The problems did not end there. After inspecting the completed work, we identified several deficiencies that required us to contact him and request corrections. He eventually sent someone back to address the issues, and that corrective work took an entire day. During this process, we also discovered that Behr paint had been used on the trim instead of the Sherwin-Williams paint we had specified. When we confronted him about the substitution, he responded that Behr was better for trim. Regardless of his personal opinion about which product is preferable, **we specified Sherwin-Williams, and we expected the paint we requested to be used--not a different brand substituted without our approval.** A contractor should never make that decision on a customer's behalf without first discussing it with them. Between the unexpected demand for additional money, the initial workmanship deficiencies, the need for a full day of corrective work, and the undisclosed paint substitution, this experience left us seriously disappointed in the professionalism and transparency of the service we received. **Our recommendation is to proceed with caution if you are considering James Stone Painting.** Get the complete scope of work, the agreed-upon price, the specific paint brands and product lines, and any change-order procedures documented in writing before work begins. Inspect the finished work carefully and verify that the materials used match what was agreed upon. We hired a painting contractor expecting quality workmanship, honest communication, and adherence to the agreed-upon specifications. Unfortunately, that was not our experience.
