I hesitate to review this outstanding dive breakfast joint with just a handful of seats because the locals clearly cherish it. There were three baby carriages parked out front when we arrived. The owner and workers deserve even more success, so here goes. My daughter enjoyed a green smoothie and omelette that were gluten- and dairy-free. My full breakfast included lamb sausage, salad, white beans in red sauce, and a toasted white cheese sandwich that was the perfect complement to the wholly unique liquid or foam scrambled eggs (eggs, cream, butter, and more egg yolks) cooked in a vacuum-sealed bag in low simmer hot water to bring it to a safe temperature for eating. Dipping the sandwich into the liquid eggs took me back to the 70s when my parents would do sunnyside up eggs and we would dip bread into the yolks. This Early Bird take on eggs was so damn good. My meal included a buckwheat porridge with a blueberry compote, which was the perfect belly warming, sweet-tart ending. Super friendly barrista-server out front helped us know what was available in English. Seating is tight but everyone is there to enjoy the food. They were all happy to share the goodness with us. read more
