We wanted to make sure that the meal impressed our new friends and the results were a perfect 10 out of 10. Everything we ordered was delicious and Myra who is not the biggest eater in the world stated that her sweet bun pulled beef was delicious and ate it all. The course is deceptively challenging…read more There is not an alwful lot of elevation change, but the fairways are a bit undulating so you get an uneven lie, and depending on how they cut the rough, it can be punishing to hack out of it. They can also let the fescue grow, making it even more punishing. This is a tougher course than what it appears to be.

Every SINGLE place in Tofino was booked (for tenting) but when I got through to the Long Beach Campground folks, I was in luck. The guy on the phone was helpful, courteous and informative. The site offers free showers and indoor bathrooms at the main site, and port-toilets throughout the site with running water for washing dishes, hands or feet, $6 bundles of firewood and has a bar/restaurant onsite and pets are welcome. The capsites are well spaced and surrounded by a nice covering of trees so that you don't have to stare at your neighbour. Close enough to all beaches and a short drive to both Tofino or Ucluelet, you really can't complain. I would totally stay there again. (Oh, and apparently there is an air field just behind there, but apart from one plane taking off around 7pm, we didn't experience anything else)

The campground itself is nothing special, just a run down set of campsites with facilities that look like nobody has taken care of them in years. The portable toilets were clean though, I give 'em that. The sinks were disgusting, dirty and close to non functional. The showers were ok, even warm. I would not go there again, just not a nice place with any love in it. There are plenty of other lovely campgrounds nearby.

Washrooms and water fountains well placed on course. Snack bar at the turn, and a beverage cart, too. Pro shop staff, the starter and course marshal were all super-friendly and helpful. And for the 19th hole: The clubhouse restaurant . . . . The crab cakes appetizer was two cakes served with adequate but commercial salsa and tartar sauce. Nicely presented and prepared cakes, but tasted and looked like canned, shredded soft shell crab was used, not local Dungeness crab. My partner ordered the velvet oysters appy, and found the sauce was rich and tasty. Oysters inconsistent - one dry and chewy, the others OK and moist. The West Coast Salad main was plentiful in mixed salad greens with a lemon-based dressing, with 3 prawns and lox salmon accent. Same style crab cakes were served on the Crab Cake Salad, with 3 prawns and mixed greens, some of them wilted. The view from the deck to the 1st and 9th golf greens was beautiful. The service was inconsistent - had to go inside the restaurant twice to request service after a patient wait. The menus provided were subsequently replaced with the "correct" menus. The salads came out as we were still eating our appys. The golf course carries the rating, and is worth a visit . . .

I make amazing pulled pork, and usually the sauce at other places doesn't cut it. This stuff was nice and balanced between smoky and sweet. Shawn had the Big Kahuna burger, and for once the bun had the perfect amount of toastiness. I can't speak to the golf, but the grounds looked superbly maintained, and if my father in law likes playing there, that days something. I would eat there again.
