One of the main reasons my Mom was excited about moving into our apartment on Bronx Park East in…read morethe '50s was that the basement had a washer and dryer. It also had an extractor which I don't think any longer exists. It was a machine that extracted some of the water before you put it in the dryer. It was noisy and shook and kind of scary. Actually, the whole process of washing clothes and drying your clothes in the Bronx was scary. You had to go down under our apartment building into the dark, smelly, creepy basement. That's where you found the washing machine and dryer and extractor. I hated to go down there and came up with any excuse to not help my mother with the laundry but to know avail. I was not very helpful in the house and this was the one task I could do and my Mom made sure I did it! I had heard that monsters lived in the back of the basement where the bicycles and carriages were stored. I never had the nerves to go back there by myself. Always about halfway there, I would hear something or see something and freak out and run back to the washing machine. It didn't help that on the way to the back of the basement you passed the furnace room. What could be more scary than seeing huge lumps of coal burning and a furnace in the dark. I was waiting for a ghost or monster to jump out at any second. I was happy when I got older and the laundry tasks went to my younger brother and I did not have to go down into that nasty, creepy, ugly dark basement. I swore then that someday I would have my own washing machine. I would not have to go anywhere outside my home That worked until last month when my Sears washing machine broke down. I'm still working on getting a new one, but in the meantime I found a laundromat on Summit avenue pretty close to my house. What a trip it was to go inside a laundromat. I don't think I had been in one since college Refuel Wash-n-go Laundromat is conveniently located on Summit avenue by 29. It is also attached to a gas station and convenience store which made waiting on the wash to finish easy. I filled my car with gas and got myself a diet Coke and before I knew it the washing cycle had ended. The place was pretty clean. Looks like it is attended by the same staff that takes care of the convenience store. I must send out Kudos to one of the women who work there. When I approached her to help me with the washing machine, She was incredibly helpful showing me where to put the coins, where to put the detergent, etc. I really appreciated that! The washing cycle for the pretty large load was around $5. Not cheap but not expensive. What surprised me is how quickly it washes your clothes. My cycle at home takes an hour over; here it was 20 minutes ! The laundromat was well stocked with baskets with wheels and countertops. I wish they had some place to sit. Those of us that were washing clothes had to sit on the curb outside. Before I knew it, the clothes were clean, I threw them in a big garbage bag and went home to put them in the dryer. Great to know that this place is down the street when needed. And for those of you who rely on an outside source to get your clothes washed, this place looked pretty good to me. And like I said, you could throw your clothes in and then get some gas and get yourself a snack and time will pass pretty quickly I may miss my Mom and my friends on Bronx Park East. I may miss singing in the chorus of PS96. I may miss the botanical gardens and the Bronx Zoo. But I will never miss that creepy, dark basement at 2526 Bronx Park East and that scary experience of having to wash and dry our clothes down there. I'm so glad I have the Refuel Wash-n-Go laundromat as an alternative!

Overall a great place to get your laundry done and have the gas station right there with everything…read moreelse you'd need. Only negative id mention is the amount of homeless that hang around there asking for money, and sometimes a little pushy about it too. Otherwise a good spot!

How do you go from somewhat decent gas station food to horrid? You get bought out and become this…read moreunknown franchise called "refuel." Who even creates a business name that begins with a lower case letter? You know, it doesn't cost extra to Capitalize! Most of staff who was there before this switcharoo is gone and have been replaced with mostly surly ones. And I do mean surly. For the one or two that might be there who are hospitable, I don't know how they manage to work with the grumpy ones who's eyes shoot daggers at them and the customers. WTH? At least they got a new drink machine and brought the corn dogs back, which are fine. Everything on the hot dog roller always looks way beyond its cook time and bordering on burnt or shriveled up. I would avoid the pizza at all costs. I got a slice that was fresh out of the conveyor oven and it was burnt on the bottom, hard crust that could cause a trip to the dentist, and everything on top was all dried up. The only bonus was the pepperoni was cooked to a point of being a hard disk that had lost all its grease. I'm not a fan of pepperoni because it gets so greasy when it cooks and leaves pools of it on the cheese, but it was the only way I could get a slice with sausage, which is no winner either, btw. I want Hunt Brothers pizza back, which I had nicknamed Jesus pizza because of the bible verse on the back of the box. At least it was edible and actually pretty good. Suffice to say "refuel" had had a serious negative effect on this place. I've tried the pizza now on three occasions btw, and it gets worse every time. I don't even buy my gas there cos they charge too much.

The clerk was courteous and the pizza was just okay -- nothing great. Would have preferred more variety for hot food but maybe I hit them during a non-optimal time.

The hostile district manager refused to give me change due from their barely operating car wash…read moremoney acceptor (that wouldn't take a credit card). Went at 6:45pm to drop of end of day first class mail in the drop box inside the store. When I put…read morethe mail through the slot, you could the see that there was no box / container inside the drop box and my mail went all over the floor inside. This is how mail gets lost and never delivered....I tried to reach my mail to pick it up to give to the person in the gas station to put in one of the pick up boxes behind the counter and couldn't reach it. I opened the door to the drop box (not secured, by the way) that is standing open to pick up my mail off the floor and a tall oafish looking guy with plastic ear stretchers and tattoos yells at me to not open the box and put it back and starts towards me. I had my mail in my hand and was standing up and tried to tell him that there was no box/ container inside and my mail was all in the floor. He didn't let me finish getting my sentence out when he yelled at me again to put it back. I started again to tell him what the problem was and he yelled at me to put it back again. So, I tossed it back on the floor inside the drop box. He walked over, picked up my mail, handed it to me and told me to take my mail and leave. I asked why and he said I threw the mail on the floor. I said that you yelled at me three times to put it back and I put it back where I had picked it up, on the floor with no box/ container inside the drop box. Then A kind of tall, mannish looking woman with dark hair said I had to leave and take my business elsewhere. So, I did. They don't do their job and put a box/container for the mail to be put in inside the drop off box and when my mail is all over the floor and I try to pick it up, they tell me to leave... This is the same guy that, when I went previously to mail six certified letters, told me not to come back with that many again that they would only mail one and that I would need to go to a "real post office" if I wanted to mail more than one. So, it seems, that these gas station workers don't wanna be bothered with doing any additional work in the contracted post office inside the gas station as it apparently "isn't a real post office". Wonder what Eagles gets paid to have the "not real post office" in their store. Maybe it should be removed and the not get paid...They always have an attitude like you're bothering them to do anything that has to do with the mail. Maybe the post office should pull their contract and they could just stand behind the counter and talk and not have to work.

I have kept my opinions to myself for over a year now about the owner and the people he decided to let work for him. I never had a issue with the employees who work within the grill part of the place they were always very nice to me. But as for the gas station aspect of checkers they are extremely rude and have done Multiple offending things to me and my fiancé. - so I am a pregnant women and have been for sometime now, the owner loves to harass me about buying ice cream or cotton candy he makes very rude and offending comments towards me basically hoping the outcome of what he said would make me feel bad about myself for eating something I ENJOY especially while pregnant. I didn't know it was a crime to feed myself. And not only does the OWNER do this to me so does the young boy he has at the register and the only other female that works at the register . I am not close with these people nor do they know who I really am at all. I have NEVER had a group of people harass me so badly for buying somthing I enjoy eating. - Just yesterday I went to this store one last time and I won't go back ever again!!! There was a blonde women who was the cashier this day and my fiancé was standing in line for me and him I told him I was gonna go grab a few things and be right back. Also let me add this In my fiance was using MY CARD MY MONEY to buy our stuff by the time I got back up to the counter I put all my stuff down and she just rang him out with MY MONEY. And didn't even acknowledge to scan what I put up there and she knew we were together instead finger looks at me and says the guy behind your fiancé was next and I said no this was all supposed to be together and she completely ignored me and checked out the other guy after that was MY CARD MY MONEY HE USED and this was the cashiers again the women with blonde hairs screw up. I cannot tell you how many times this women has harassed me and treated me badly over the year and a half I have been going there. I won't ever step foot in that store ever again after this. Please learn what being a professional business is and maybe hire some new employees also because if you think that's ok it's NOT.
