My family (wife and two daughters) came to Gillies Bar & Grill for a truly wonderful lunch. Just so…read morehappened that it was on the day of Chinese New Year (Rooster). So we thought we would celebrate by having some Chinese food and on looking at the menu there was quite a choice of worldly cuisines to pick from!! Gillies is a 140 seater bar/grill which is part of the Galgorm Hotel & Spa complex. It has its own separate driveway entrance and an internal entrance from the hotel. It is split over 3 levels and on busy days people can dine in the bar. We parked in the restaurant car park and walked through the well kept garden area and past Fratelli's restaurant to get to the grill. Our table was booked for 13.30 and when we arrived the main dining area was packed and there was a super atmosphere. The restaurant area is very well laid out with a definite theme of farm animals painted on the high ceilings and walls and a huge centre piece chimney/fire place. On arrival we were shown to our reserved table which had two kids menus and two adult menus already on the table. Main course cutlery was wrapped in a large napkin with a chocolate enclosed-great touch!! We ordered pork and leek sausages and skinny fries with beans and pasta carbonara for the kids whilst my wife and I had starters of prawn cocktail and Bang Bang chicken. Firstly we asked for kids meals to come with our starters which happened and we divided the kids meals so they could share. The sausages were delicious as was the pasta and our prawn cocktail and chicken was amazing, there was a drizzle of satay sauce on the chicken which enhanced the dish. For mains my wife ordered salt and chilli chicken and chips and I had the ribs which came with onion rings and creamy coleslaw with garlic potatoes and pepper sauce. My ribs were really "melt in your mouth" and the sides were a great accompaniment. My wife's chicken was exactly like Chinese chefs cook it with a nice soy sauce flavour. For dessert the girls had ice cream with marshmallow and chocolate drops-so between that ant the fruit juices was sugar overload!!!! I had a caramel latte and wife had hot chocolate orange. The food, environment and service was absolutely superb. We spent a while in the grounds walking it all off. We shall definitely be back to check out the hotel, spa and other restaurants in the future. Check my blog for all pictures.

Estimates of time until ready pretty close. Most importantly the food is terrific. Great selection and variety. Nice consistency of sauces. Generous amounts of meat in portions. Quality ingredients. In my opinion, it's the best delivery Chinese takeaway in Ballymena.

We called in on the way home from a long day at work-the Chinese was empty so they can't use that as an excuse. We ordered one starter and two main courses-not a complicated order but the useless girl at the counter couldn't even add the total up she had to get the Chinese chef to do it. Anyway we drove out home and dished out the starter which was fine. However when we dished up the mains we discovered we had been given one wrong meal. We called the Chinese to ask for the correct dish which again the uneducated thing behind the counter couldn't comprehend. They expected us to come get a replacement for the incorrect dish when the chef agreed to send it out to us we were told it would be ten mins-this was annoying but acceptable. The girl couldn't understand or spell r address and it was spelt out three times. 40mins later still no order and the rest of the food may as well have been dumped it was ruined. My husband called to complain again and was told that they didn't know the address and would send it again. At this point we said we wanted r money back to which they again expected us to come for it-no. They wanted all other food back fine we chucked it in a bag and waited. 2hrs after ordering the poor delivery woman had to come query the refund with us. I called the Chinese and got abuse hurled down the phone at me being cursed at by that rude useless waste of space. After 5mins on the phone they said we would get refund for all but-the starter. This was the third and last time we will use them. All but the delivery driver are rude. Always an issue with the address and customer service/care or basic manners non existent. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Sent from my HTC

This truly authentic Indian restaurant is the brainchild of Head Chef Sanjay and Front of House Manager Pawan. The team have put a lot of effort into this place. It is ideally located and has plenty of car parking and seats 85 people. The ribbon was cut by the landlord and then Sanjha opened for business. There was a Prosecco aperitif on arrival, followed by popadoms and chutneys. Starter for me was a mixed platter of chicken, salmon, shami kebab, aloo tikki and onion bhaji served with spaghetti salad and chutneys (mint and mango). The starters were amazing and set the bar high for the mains. The main course duly arrived and consisted of butter chicken, Rogan josh, saffron rice and nan. The taste was so real it was as if I was sitting in India and eating it!!!! There is an extensive wine and cocktail list- which looked very appealing!! The staff and owners have really got a winner here.....I would thoroughly recommend paying a visit, I know I shall!!
