The cottage decor was nicely updated with new finishes with basic (and I mean BASIC) amenities however this could not make up for the beds being as stiff as sleeping on plywood and the lack of having a warm blanket. Not providing more than one roll of toilet paper, dishcloth, dish towel, very little dish soap, hooks for towels to hang up, a wobbly coat rack, a broken outdoor first step, or even a snow shovel left a sour taste in our mouths. We will not be returning, wi there or summer.

Lake is few steps away from actual house and I did not expect a lot for a 3 bedroom place for 6 people at 120$ per night. There were not to many youngsters so it wasn't load only last day some teenagers came with no girls and started to make some noises. Fishing is great but be aware it mostly shallow and you can damage your boat. If you expect some visitors please be ready to see an owner asking you to pay extra $$$. So to finish with I won't go there again only because of sneaky owner and some mechanics who tried to get some extra cash for broke a** engine which is probably older than I am.

Located on the lake with a spectacular view, it was perfect for our group of 8 doing a wine tour. We used the fire pit in front of our cottage and truly enjoyed our time here. Inside the cottage looks like it was renovated, well used though and it had a bit of a musty smell. We opened windows and that solved the issue. There was a huge table and good Size kitchen. All the beds were comfortable. No complaints. Great spot to enjoy the outdoors or chill out on a couch with cozy blankets.

We had a fantastic stay in his amazing West Lake Surf cottage. The view is breath taking and it was so nice to drink a coffee in peace and quiet on the dock in the morning. I loved that he let me know there were SUP board rentals prior to when we arrived. The cottage itself is ideally situated: walking distance to a general store and antique shop, close to Sandbanks and water sports rentals. It's a great location for running, brewery tours and wine tours. The property is gorgeous, and the guest house is very well maintained (it feels like home). A great property with an area to sit and chill by the water. We would come back here again, no questions! Jon is an amazing host and goes above and beyond for his guests.

The view from our deck was just amazing beautiful lake ~ we just loved it. The mobile home/cabin was really nice/clean/new and equipped with absolutely everything we needed to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The pool was also a hit with the kids - they loved fishing off the docks as well. The park itself is really clean and maintained very nicely by the family who owns the park. I would definitely recommend this to any family who would like to get away to the lake this summer- its a wonderful destination that we truly enjoyed and will go to again!

If you're into canoeing, fishing, boating, etc.. Baptiste Lake is perfect. Also, Algonquin Park is only an hours drive away and you can experience all that is has to offer! The renovated cottages have been fixed up great, and provide a rustic feel. Comfortable beds, and screened in breezeways to keep you away from the bugs but still feel like the outdoors! Overall, I would highly recommend Belcast Cottages and can't wait to go back!!

Awesome family fun for everyone!…read more West bay is the best kept secret in North-Eastern Ontario! If you are looking for a quick and easy get away without the hassle of packing your whole kitchen, I would highly recommend this resort. The accommodations are lovely and rustic. You are provided with everything you need as far as utensils and kitchen supplies, but the owners still let it be known numerous times that if we needed anything at all to let them know. They were beyond accommodating, and a real pleasure to deal with. This was our first time coming to West bay, and I have already booked for two more weekends this season. The cabin was adorable, and just what we needed. The cabins are dated, but definitely part of their charm. If you are looking for brand new state of the art cottage then you should check out the Hilton Hotels... However if interested in spending copious amounts of time outdoors enjoying a beautiful quiet lake, Spotless beach with safe water access, awesome hiking trails, and star filled nights.. I couldn't recommend any better place. 10 STARS!
