3.5
This is a difficult review to star. I think 3.5 is accurate but... well, you'll see.
So, I bought my first home last year and since I have become acquainted with all the fun that comes along with home ownership. Within 3 weeks of me closing on my house, the garage door fell off track, trapping me inside. I was able to manually reset it and go about my business. A week later, it happened again. This time, the door seemed to hang perilously above my new car. I was a bit freaked out. Would it fall? Would I be trapped inside the house? Why does this keep happening? After calling the GC in charge of my house, I got the name and number of the company who took care of the door. After some texts and calls, he (John) agreed to come out on a Sunday morning and fix the problem. The business (and John) is northwest of Nashville, so getting to the city isn't always an easy thing to do. John's an affable fellow. He spent a good amount of time, re-aligning the cables and getting me up and running. As he was pulling out and preparing to leave, the door fell again. Luckily, he was less than 100 feet away. He drove back and fixed the problem. Awesome. Fast forward a month and a half. Another weekend. Another garage door fail/fall. This one was worst than the last: bolts fell out of the track (one almost hitting me in the head), the door crunched up like a potato chip snack bag and the sound it made as it hung in the sky was incredibly eerie. One of John's associates got out to see me the next morning and got to the business of fixing the door. John arrived as well to supervise and work on the door. He gave me a guarantee that my problems were over, we shook hands and he took off. *Knock on wood* I haven't had an issue since.
The good: John's very nice. He's come out to fix my door within 24 hours of being notified of a problem and he's done so on the weekends.
The bad: My door has fallen off track 4 times in five months. That's not good. Granted, this is my first garage door that I've owned but in the [redacted; I almost gave up my age] years my parents have had garage doors, I can't remember one time someone had to come out to fix a door that's fallen off track. Three houses. No problems. I think I remember John mentioning that he didn't do the initial door install and that may be part of the problem. Still, it's a bit unnerving that you can't take your garage door opening and closing for granted. As I told John upon our last meeting (and, he agreed with me), I hope that I don't ever have to see him again. read more
