When it was time for me to be discharged to an Acute Rehab facility I arranged to be at one closer to home in Ventura County. Transportation was not included so we found Sunrise Poppy. I was transported via a gurney by van from bed to bed, with minimal discomfort on the injury site. I felt secure on the ride so I was able to be calm and rest during the 3 and 1/2 hour transfer. This was a nearly four hour drive and they did not take any preparation in the case that my father needed to use the bathroom. When I met them at the lobby of the Rehabilitation center, my poor father was so upset, humiliated, embarrassed and crying! He had urinated on himself and they didn't even cover him with a towel or a sheet or do anything or say anything. My father was scared and disoriented and all of this could have been avoided. First of all, when I called in desperation, Daniel actually answered the phone! He was kind, accommodating, and worked around his schedule to accommodate me. He was also great at describing the service and answered all of my questions. I was scared because I'd never needed that kind of service before, I needn't have been. He showed up at exactly the time he said he would. He brought a wheel chair into my home, assisted me into chair and maneuvered his way out and to his van. I am a large person, so his strength is amazing. His van is amazing -- with tons of safety equipment to keep the wheelchair and me secure. He is a kind, personable and totally honest person. We had the most lovely chat the whole way to the facility--which helped ease my nerves about the appointment (I am terrified of doctors). He then unloaded me, took me to check in, then put me in a safe place until my appointment. He then left to service other clients and was great about communicating when he would be back to get me. Again, he was exactly on time to pick me up. He then brought me home and got me settled on my couch. He has a nursing background so is very educated in safely handling patients/clients. After using other pricey and in some cases unreliable medical transports, we used Daniel exclusively the last 2 months 9 times. He transports both wheelchair as well as regular medical transports. If possible he'll wait for you instead of coming back. We never waited very long. Daniel stays in close contact and lets you know he's "on his way" or is waiting for you. Daniel cares about those he transports and is 110% reliable.
