Cannot get into my account. I changed my phone number. Now, it has been a week and I still cannot get into my account because Etrade only uses your cell phone to verified. No other way to get online without getting the code in your cell phone. They told me it takes up to a month for the system to use my new phone number as verification to go online into my account. Who can do without their bank account for a month? I cannot transfer money as I needed. I cannot go in to cancel my account because they no longer has a physical location in San Diego. The worst experience with any banking institutions. I will cancel my account with Etrade as soon as I can. read more

Surly phone reps from New Jersey who are impersonally and give you short shrift are keeping me away from ETRADE as much as possible. Their deposit Hilda are onerous. I did a test$10 ACH and it is on hold for 3 business days. Fidelity and others make the deposit available immediately up to a certain amount. Not ETRADE. I guess $10 is too risky for them to release, even though I have a six figure balance. On the positive side, I like the platform and the free mutual fund trades they started in Dec 2022. On balance they get a C- Look elsewhere. read more

I wish there is some -ve stars. I am their Platinum Client. They have been terrible in service. Rude, don't answer questions, they say they will call back, never do. Even their Your Relationship Manager (mine is Erick Mueller) is a joke. It feels like they have taken regular customer desk people and label them Relationship Managers. They provide same crapy service, sorry best is same crapy non-service. Not knowledge at all. At least in my 7 calls since last week, not a single person answered questions, and always said get back to me, and never did. Really horrible company to work with. I will NEVER give ETrade my business. Upon calling as requested in an email, they ask me to give them the password to a teleprompt on the phone. I will NEVER share passwords like this. Just trying to make a deposit is unbelievably difficult. The questions they ask are invasive an unnecessary. E*Trade was extremely reliable before the pandemic brought the end of business as we knew it. I'm working on 2 very unusual transactions; both of which require working with human beings to accomplish. One of the transactions appears to have gone through but, every few days, cash keeps on disappearing from my brokerage account with no explanation. I called the 800 number yesterday and, after waiting on hold listening to the same silly music for just over 2 hours, my call was picked up by someone's voice mail! I'm now on hold again today (so far it's "only" been an hour) listening to the same music. If you can handle all of your investment needs using the web or automated telephone prompts, E*Trade is for you. Not for me right now! read more

Usually you won't need to meet local customer service people for using E*Trade. For once, we had to. Unfortunately, they did not resolve our request to our satisfaction. We will still likely use their trading platform, but are obviously disappointed by their customer service department. read more
