E town has everything a coffee shop should have and more! The food is made in house by the proprietor is warm, welcoming and a wonderful cook. Coffees, teas, smoothies are all well made. Sandwiches (breakfast and lunch sandwiches) are yummy and the servings are generous. In summer a salad is on the menu, a different one each day and fall and winter there are in house made soups. Locals are at E town enjoying coffee and lunch and many are greeted by name. I guarantee you will enjoy your visit. read more

Super cute place with friendly service. Good coffee and tea. I got the chicken Cesar salad special. It had egg, bacon, avocado along with the usual and it worked. The first thing you notice is the cozy atmosphere of this place, often lacking in cafes in small towns. It's clear that the proprietor puts there heart and backs into this place. Next the coffee is wonderful and if I had been able to get past the best muffalata this side of New Orleans I'd be better prepared to review the menu. It's striking how creative the offerings were,as I was leaving I noticed on the menu a "steak and ale chowder" that just sounds appetizing ,I'm certain it's amazing. If your traveling to Galena you must stop into E Street. In closing a real gem. You'll be glad you paid a visit. I would be remiss if I failed to mention the delightful staff,very helpful. read more

The food here is a bit above average. Truth be told I've never had anything here that I didn't like, from the coffee to the sandwiches to the baked goods. Everything is always well prepared with good ingredients and attention to detail. The service is what really bumps E-Town up to 4 stars. It's probably the friendliest in Jo Daviess County. It seems they know everyone by name. They're always cheerful and chatty. Even though it looks more like an urban coffeehouse, it has the charm of an old-school country diner. OK, why don't I just go ahead and say E-Town is the best place in the area to meet people for lunch. Or to stop in for lunch. Or to get your morning coffee. Good food, warm and friendly staff, good vibe. Just stop in there for food so they can stay in business a good long time. read more

Charming little place I stopped in on the way to Galena. Delicious food (I had the chicken salad sandwich, which was extremely fresh and savory) accompanied with a signature mocha called Santa's Cherry Cheeks, which featured cherry syrup and white chocolate). Like many of their clientele, we are Chicagoans that stopped in on our way back to the city after a weekend in Galena. I always love finding a cute, delicious little sweet spot in random neighborhoods and small towns, and this one did not disappoint. The place is clean, cute, and the perfect balance of shabby chic with a fresh cafe vibe. My mocha was delicious, as was my breakfast wrap and the sugar cookies I purchased. Minutes from my house & as a chef & Sommelier that moved here from Chicago all I can say is I LOVE this place, Jodi, & her crew!! They'll edit anything you need for dietary issues. She also has a wonder selection of wines, some local beers, & cream bourbons/whiskeys. All in all even tho I'm supposed to be dairy, gluten, & soy free because of my Hashimoto's (autoimmune disease) I will break my diet here & deal with the consequences later =) read more

The atmosphere is really nice and suitable for any ages. I stopped in for lunch with my two young children on a Thursday afternoon and it was very comfortable inside. The employees were very friendly and helpful. We ordered some creamy chicken rice soup, and a ham and cheese panini with a pasta side. The soup was amazing. Very full of ingredients and definitely "creamy", not watery at all. There were decent chunks of chicken and it was extremely filling. At $3 a cup you cannot go wrong! We ordered two cups to share and we couldn't finish them along with the sandwich, so the value is top notch. The ham sandwich was chock full of thick pieces of real ham, a good amount of melted American cheese and a "special sauce" all on a grilled bread. It was very very good. My daughter found the sauce to be "spicy", so I'd skip that, or get it on the side if you're sensitive to that, but I found it to be a delicious compliment to the sandwich. The pasta side was also very good. For under $20 we all had lunch (more than we could finish) and three soft drinks in an adorable place where we sat for a while after and just hung out a bit. We will definitely continue to visit and it's worth the stop if you're ever in the area. Next time I'll try some coffee and update the review. read more

I stopped at E-Town with a lunch hunger and because they had a sign outside advertising a delicious-sounding pannini: Turkey, artichoke and swiss cheese. I entered a spacious and clean and rustic space, placed my order at the counter, and had that pannini with chips and a cup of fresh java, all for about $8.00. The sandwich was hot, fresh and delicious, with the nice surprise of added fresh spinach. Stopped in here on my way to Galena a few weeks ago and loved it! I dropped by mid-Saturday afternoon, and the place was dead. A latte and an iced coffee for us cost about $5.50 which I found extremely reasonable. There is lots of seating in the shop, and cute decor that included local photographs that were for sale. I'm perplexed as to why the shop isn't open on Sundays, as it seems like they would really clean up with all of the Chicago folk heading back home after their weekends in the country... read more

We were passing through town with friends on the way back from Galena, IL and absolutely loved our lunch and experience there.
