You know how they say in Manila if you want to find the best secret places for cheap eats, eat where the cab drivers eat. We'll I've found it...and I didn't just rub elbows with my friendly cabbies, with jeepney drivers, too. And the driving crowd lead me to a goldmine of good food.
E.li's Bulaluhan has been around for several years unbeknownst to many Manila foodies. They serve the best bulalo this side of town. Think of the best bulalo you've had in Tagaytay or in Batangas and you'll come close to what E.li has to offer. Aside from this hot soup that everyone seems to love, they also have a variety of affordable eats, including the sizzling bulalo. They basically get the bulalo meat (marrow and all) and place it on a sizzling plate and serve it to you crispy. You can also try their amazing chilli beef - not that spicy but oh so good.
For only P200 pesos you can have a bowl of special bulalo, sizzling bulalo, rice, drinks and even an additional half-serving of another viand of your choosing (true to any carinderia-style eatery, you can get your viand or rice in half servings at half the regular price). Food is served fast, it is cheap and it is extremely good - just like how any true Manila girl likes it. read more
