I had a shed and platform that needed removing on the morning that a new shed was to arrive. They made a bid based not only on that specification, but also photos I sent showing both the shed and the platform.
When the crew arrived, they said (a) they did not know the platform was part of the project and (b) it would cost more to do the job. Since I was stuck, needing to have the old shed gone so the new shed could go in its place, I had no options but to pay more than the bid.
The shed and platform were removed, no complaints about the actual work. But had the office manager, Philip, done his job properly, I could have saved a couple of hundred bucks by keeping the platform and staging the new shed atop it.
I worry. In the moving business, some local/regional movers play a game where they bid low, then on moving day demand more money saying the job was bigger than expected. This is a well known scam since the person moving cannot stay in their old rental. I hope this is not what Junk Recyclers is doing.
So, if you have a small junk hauling gig, they are probably fine. Anything bigger, you might insist on a site visit and firm quote.
