I'm pretty sure I still owe outstanding fines for a library book I never returned, over 10 years ago. Man, that sure feels good to admit that! :p Guilt aside, PoMo Public Library is a fantastic space! It's aged well, it doesn't look a day over 3. I had a chance to hang out here for a couple of hours recently and it looks like nothing has changed over the past decade. The silent rooms have cubicles, there's plenty of desks lined up along the windows, a comfy magazine lounge and a ginormous, free parking lot. With free wi-fi throughout the building and Newport Village right across the street, this is an ideal location to hunker down and get some quiet work done.

There is no respect for people who come here to study and find "quiet space". Libraries were a place to read quietly. This is not an indoor playground. I don't understand why parents allow their kids to scream and run around without any regard to other people in the library. We all pay taxes to pay librarian salaries but they don't seem to hear what we have to say when it comes to fair use of this facility. There are a lot of students studying for exams and the librarians have no regard and think we should just buy headphones to drown out the noise. Some people for obvious reasons can not study with music or headphones. This space is not designed for simultaneous and competing use of the facility. They need a room for the kids just like the crying room in church where they can run around and make all the noise they want without bothering the students who come here to study and research. There should be guidelines: - don't talk loudly with your phone in the library go outside to talk - no running around - when there is a school tour, patrons should be notified with a sign at the front so they can make a decision on whether to come to the library or find a quieter space like Starbucks! - no screaming and horse playing - librarians should tell people to keep the noise down and be respectful of other people. Does anyone know where there is a quiet library like the good old days?

Rooms lacked a mini bar or TV. Bed was uncomfortable. However, as a plus, the toilet was close to…read morethe bed. Room service was unavailable during my stay so I can't speak on the food quality. Noise from other guests kept me awake all night. It seemed to be at max occupancy, which may have been a contributing factor. Overall, by choice I would not stay again, unless I had no other option. Do not recommend. One star.

Dear Vancouver,…read more Thank you for letting me see the natural beauty that every Vancouverite is so proud of and somehow the world really hasn't grasped how vast that is yet. You've shown me your best and it's quite a beauty. To only pop into Vancouver for less than 3 days is a bit of a travesty. There is much to see and if you do have a week, the surrounding areas hold much to do. Though I know it never snows in Vancouver, you literally can be in snow capped Mountains in under 90 minutes. Speaking of no snow... I was lucky on my visit to only have a morning of rain. I know my friends have experience the unending hours, days, and weeks of rain in Vancouver. So to those are worried about the rain... yes, it will come but in the summer months (July & August), you'll have more days of sun. To say that Vancouver is health conscious, it's like saying bears sh!t in the woods... and WOW, do they ever. Thank you Vancouver Mother Nature, now that I've seen it... I can cross that off my list (ew). Everyone is wearing Lululemon even the dogs are too... leashes count as wearing? There is yoga in the park en masse and every corner you turn, there is a cold press juicery, acai bowl, or salad shop. I applaud you for being so green and energetic but for the rest of us, Vancouver also has a great foodie scene to indulge in. The Granville Market is a must do (not on the weekends) with it's wealth of fresh food, lots of vendors, and great spots to search out. The coffee scene is alive and well with so many microroasters putting out some phenomenal coffee (Modus and Timbertrain). The butter route is also wonderful with Beaucoup (so amazing in every way), Nemesis Cafe, and Rain or Shine Ice Cream. For meals, I highly highly recommend both Fable restaurant and Fable Diner. They were superb in every way of service and flavour. I also think BLVD was incredible for brunches. What's a completely stuffed and full tourist to do to burn off those excellent calories? Vancouver is probably of the best cities that has hiking paths, incredible bike paths, and a wealth of activities to do within 10 minutes of the downtown core. If you're considering biking the Seawall, that would literally just be a minutes to start off that adventure. That is an absolute must. I've never had the joy of that experience any where else in the world. Between Lynn Canyon & Capilano, you can experience a pedestrian version of what it is to do a hike. If you're more ambitious, there are a lot of trails that will challenge ANYONE. On top of those, there are many walking paths along the coastline and Kitsilano is a great neighhourhood to walk around. Gastown is the perpetual favourite with its food and historical icons. And then you have the West end with a lot of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics (loved seeing this!) All this definitely amazed me but one thing I did notice and it marred the perfect image of Vancouver for me. The homeless and drug problem is quite serious. I was staying on the border of Chinatown and Gastown, and it was normal to find someone shooting up on a nearby bench or having used needles outside the place I was staying. And I was in the gentrified area. It's incredible sad to see this... depressing even. I know you shouldnt hide this problem but it seemed so pervasive that every native Vancouverite pretended the homeless and drug users didnt exist. Overall, I loved Vancouver and yes it has an uglier big underside but it should never detract from the overall incredible offering it gives you. Definitely a great city and one to enjoy!

Summer time, we have lots of beaches and in the winter we have the mountains aka snowboarding season. Life is slow and relaxing. Also note that Vancouver has better Chinese food out of Asia. Yes no kidding. Also we are so multicultural, you can find all sort of different cuisine here. Very multicultural!

Long story short I ordered some clothes and it got shipped to the wrong address. Luckily the address i had it sent to was not home and received a pick up slip. As soon as i realized i called and spoke to someone by the name of Linh to ask if they could keep anyone from picking it up with the slip. She was so amazing she let everyone know and was so nice about it when I came to pick it up I had no issues what so ever the associate already knew what to do because everything was written in the notes. The new streamlined NEXUS program has been working wonderfully letting me: - Skip various lines at all major Canadian airports (US Immigration, Canadian Immigration, the pre-duty free line, the security line, etc.). Those iris scans are still amazing to me - you just walk up to the machine, stare into the camera, and it figures out who you are like something from a science fiction movie! - Skip the long car line ups at the US border (going in both directions) (you have to scan your card at the land crossings) - Skip the U.S. immigration lines at most major US airports through the new free Global Entry add-on (what a dream at places like JFK, LAX, O'hare, DFW, etc.) (you have to scan your passport at the US airports) I'm a huge fan! One of the rules of this trusted traveler program is that you have to keep all of your travel documents and ID up to date with the NEXUS folks (seems fair to me). The location at the Vancouver airport (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/nexus-enrolment-centre-richmond#hrid:qdn9LXEk80gSprIm2Mo_lw) is always convenient with 7 days service and no appointment necessary to update your documentation. But recently after getting some updated ID I didn't want to head down to the airport and instead I went to this downtown Vancouver location. Apparently normally you have to do ID updates between 8am and 10am at this location. But I didn't know that, and was there in the afternoon. The officials were incredibly friendly and helpful and said, "No worries. We can do it for you now. Just remember in the future." Now THAT is the type of customer service I wish all government agencies (and businesses for that matter) would provide! I continue to be a huge fan of this wonderful program. It makes all of the modern hassles of travel seem a lot more manageable. This is seriously the BEST $10/year I have ever spent. Yes, it is only $10/year. Crazy!

Why the grump, gramps? I wasn't expecting to be met with…read moresuch a cold attitude when coming in here with a simple question. All of the representatives were sitting idly at their kiosks, and there were no other customers in there except for me, so I chose the most senior looking person (no reason) to attend to my question. I asked, "How do I update my credit card information with the Nexus program? The website doesn't have a way to do this." This guy stared me down and gave me the most blunt answers possible, without actually revealing the answer. He asked for my information, sighed, and then handed me a sticky note with the correct information already printed on it. Why does it have to be so tough to not act so tough?
