**CLEAN AND EFFICIENT WEDNESDAY FARMERS' MARKET**…read more Small farmers' market in Germering. Went here to shop for ingredients for lunch and dinner. HOURS ====== 7AM- NOON PARKING ======== Plenty on the street and provided lot. AMBIANCE ========== Butchers, cheese mongers, and farmers with their booths and stands. Cute and clean. Not too crowded; mostly locals. Fresh and organic produce everywhere. Everything was displayed beautifully. People formed lines and waited patiently as there is only one person wrapping up and calculating costs at each booth. FOOD ===== Fruits, vegetables, cheese, meats, and other Bavarian specialties. Not exactly cheap. Spent around 50 Euros on maybe 2 bags of groceries, but worth it. PRO TIP ====== Bring a basket and look like a pro. Come early for best selections, around 7-8AM. This was the most orderly and efficient farmers' market I've ever been to. To be expected, it's Germany. RECOMMEND.

I don't know how many times I have been to the OEZ and walked by this place and never knew it was…read morean Edeka. Today as I was looking for some snacks to take home realized there was an Edeka at OEZ and decided to drop in. I always thought it was a flower shop and to my surprise its a huge supermarket that has good stuff at a reasonable price. They have tons of isles of all sorts of groceries, snacks, prepared and cold food, fresh fruit and vegetables and a bakery. Their stuff looks great and one of the few shops I have seen that carry nice snack items from around the place and a nice selection of biscuits. Must come back and walk the isles a bit more and see what else they have. As we do not an Edeka in our area it is nice to know that there is one close to my office in case I need some different stuff to Rewe or Lidl or Netto :-)) prices are reasonable here and the line was a bit big but moved quickly :-)
Almost like an American-sized grocery store! I really like going to this grocery store, its big,…read morethe layout is nice, and they usually have everything that I need. Compared to other stores in the area, I know I can always count on HIT for having things like cilantro, and a wider variety of herbs and spices - also a wider variety of meats; and depending on the cut and what type of meat you're buying it might be cheaper than, let's say, Rewe. However, as a whole, I find myself spending more money at this store. In general I don't think that the food is more expensive, but since they have such a wide variety of items I go a bit crazy - I also drive there and park in their garage so I probably mentally set myself up for a bigger shop. It's a good grocery store, big, clean, and fruitful.

At the Edeka…read moreSimmel Das Einstein, it creeps up to about 80% This place is so orderly that they make you use gloves to handle the (perfect) produce. The selection of yoghurts and cheese is awesome, and the butchery is pricey but meticulous. The bakery is a specialty shop in itself--high turnover and high craftsmanship mean you'll always pick up something fresh from the oven, and tasty. The checkouts, though, are what make this place throroughly and utterly Germanic. Obviously, someone has done a time-and-motion study on the process of checking-out, and determined that dividing the process into two works more efficiently. One lady will ring you up, give you a rechnung with a barcode, which you can then hand to the money-taking lady or ATM your way into the mall outside. The speed means you need to get your skates on to pack your groceries tout suite, lest you clog the check-out artery. And that, my dear friends, would create DISORDER! Tsk tsk.
The Edeka in "DasEinstein" in the Einsteinstrasse is one of my favorite grocery stores in Munich…read more Nearly all the Edeka's I've been to in Munich have been wonderful, but the garage and brand new building make this one extra nice. Nice and big, lots of light and a great fruit and vegetable spread. The self-checkout (5 terminals) is the reason I visit this Edeka nearly every other day for groceries. If you have your act together and understand the process, you can check yourself out faster than it takes to stand in the normal checkout. Gotta love those morons that place all their items on the scale and then bag it after they pay. DRIVES ME CRAZY. Anyway - great store with a nice clean and brand new building housing it. The garage always has tons of space.
