I am quite surprised to see no one has the idea of a lovely indian grocery store keeps different Indian vegetables, variety of all the spices, curry pastes, Indian Paneer , variety of poppadums...Hmm yummy and lot more to explore. As an Indian chef, I would like to highly recommend this store where I buy all my groceries from. Those who love to cook curry and try indian cuisine, this is a best place to buy the ingredients at so reasonable cost. Fresh coriander leaves or mint will cost 70 cents a bunch. Yess crazy isn't it? Normally if you go a regular store like Rewe, Edeka etc. a few sprigs bunch will cost u around 3€. If you are experimenting with the Indian food and don't want to buy the 1/2 kg packets of spices, here is the deal. You can buy all variety of small packets of spices for about 1.50€ each. Isn't that great! Ambience is so nice. Right in the city center and accessible through public transport tram no 20, 21 and get down at Karlstrasse. Just 50 meters from there. Right opposite Kare( furnishing store). Try it and keep loving and cooking indian cuisines ;-)

I went here for the first time today. I actually did not know this place existed :-( it's only a…read moresteps away from the Theresienwiese U-Bahn station and is a reasonably big shop with lots of Indian groceries and prepared foods. The guy who owns the shop is very helpful and also very nice and friendly (unlike other Indian shops I have been to in town). The selection is not huge but, he does have most things I would need. I am sure if there was something missing you could order it. The quality of the produce here is excellent and much better than some of the other Indian shops in town. I bought some samosas and sweets here for Diwali and, they all tasted excellent and fresh. Prices are reasonable and, before he charged me for stuff made sure I was happy with this prices of certain items. Seeing that I can walk to this place in about 15 mins, it's likely to become the Indian grocery store of my choice :-))) I think it's a great shop for most Indian ingredients and select prepared foods :-)

The surprise didnt end there- the maggi that I bought from this store was priced in INR and clearly marked as " only for sale in India, Nepal and Bhutan". Clearly not ethical business practices i suppose! Perhaps the person at the store needs to do some soul searching to understand if this is how he wants India to be perceived. They have a ton of fresh vegetables at great prices, a ton of turkish groceries and they have a fresh meat and fish counter. They also have a Turkish bakery with lots of beautiful looking breads and sweets like Baklava and so on. If you are planning a party and need things in bigger quantities there is a good chance you will find it here. Big tubs of olives, yogurts and so on. The produce is reasonably priced, and they sell things from galanga root to celery, to tomatoes, carrots, onions - you name it. The shelves are fully stocked with products, and their selection of sauces makes my eyes get as wide as saucers. Their frozen food section is also pretty impressive - but I would also say relatively standard for Asian markets in the area. Not only do they sell Asian groceries, but magazines and things of that nature. I'm not too sure about the types or quality of the magazines as I am not Asian, nor do I read any type of Asian languages. Rosenheimerplatz is like a mecca of Asian shops and eateries. If you're looking for a one stop-shop for Asian groceries, Orient Shop is the place t be!
