We enjoyed it here, visiting my cousin in Sudbury...the big nickel is a sight to see. We did the underground mine tour, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I really liked how they split up the tour into different time periods and showed you the conditions and equipment that were used. The tour guide was pretty good and very interactive with the kids. It was cute before you got onto the tour you had to "check in" and take a picture of yourself as a miner. The elevator ride down was neat as was the video they played before you started the tour. They have a pretty small but good gift shop, we got some geodes that were neat. I liked their rock wall and all of the history and interesting tidbits that were all around this place. I think it is a good addition to this town and good for getting some history and background in while you are there or even if you live there. read more

Dynamic Earth - Mailed a post card from the deepest post office box in North America. Fun. But Freezing!! - Museums Near Me - Greater Sudbury, Ontario

Be prepared to go underground and embrace the wet, cold earth. Outside Dynamic Earth, you HAVE to take a picture with the classic HUGE nickle outside. Entering in, you will be welcomed with a tickets area and a giftshop that sells many geological items such as polished minerals and rocks, in addition to some plushies. You will need to wait a bit for your group to be called down for the tour, everyone must wear hardhats when you go down. It was an entire mining museum when you visit below, because you got to see the machinery that they use to drill the holes and clear the rocks for mining. Furthermore, you can see the tiny lifts and bathrooms miners use to fit underground. Really awesome experience! read more

We are so fortunate to have this to share with the public, I have been bringing my children here and visiting guests for years. The fact that you get to go stories down and explore the rich history of mining is such a wonderful experience for kids and people of all ages. I understand they even rent out the Vale Chasm for events, would love to one day. read more

This place was alright. When you walk in there is a big gift shop of all different things made from mined minerals. There is a big mineral wall off all different types of ore that has been minded in Sudbury. We decided to check out the underground mine tour as well. It was pretty decent. They take you through some different mine shafts made up to show how mining techniques have changed over the years. Pretty much a mining museum underground. Bring proper footwear as it is very wet down there. However it was a little disappointing that the mine shaft is only 65 feet underground, we were under the impression it was ALOT deeper. Cool place to check out though. Kids would really enjoy it. read more
