F.A.T.S Digital are awesome guys to work with when you need to sort out your audio-visual business…read more I work in music, so a lot of the music videos we record need to be converted for TV and various other cable stations. The Fats guys are quick, reliable and relatively cheap. They offer services like CD, DVD, Blu-ray Copying, Duplication, Replication, USB, Digital print & Digital Services, iTunes movie and audio creation, mailing services and packaging . They also have a rental section which covers some great pieces of equipment for broadcast quality shoots.

As I work in film and television, there are a lot of technical requirements which go over my head. Should I export my digital file as animation format or ProRes22? What is a betacam tape and why do I need to make one? The other week I put in an order to burn one hundred DVDs of my short film with a trailer at the end. I placed the order and went home where I happened to view the trailer and realised that the director had accidently added 30 seconds of cut footage. In a panic, I rang FATS asking them to stop processing the job until I could get them a new file. The lovely guys at FATS offered to cut out the excess footage for me from their end saving me probably hours of fidgety technical work. This aside, they are just nice, friendly guys always willing to explain technical issues in English and going out of their way to make my job easier. Their prices are the best in town as well. I wouldn't recommend anywhere else for all your digital replication needs.

If you have never had a professional photograph taken, I highly recommend You Studios at Balmain. It is a two step process. First you visit their studio and go nuts, have a great time! Do silly things or random things you would never have done before. I chose to get a couples photo and portrait photo taken. Then sit back and wait for the call. I was then invited back to review the photos and relive the moments again. It's amazing how they capture so many emotions in an hour. You can pick your favourite pictures and select the ones you want enlarged. I loved their perspex medium, but it was a bit expensive, so settled for a framed picture to take home. A great experience and cannot wait to try it again.

(Quick note to save confusion: I live in LA but yes, Tapes to Digital is in Chatswood, Sydney!)…read more Wonderful experience! SO glad to have found this place! I got numerous quotes before finding Logan and the rest were absolutely outrageous prices. Tapes To Digital was definitely the most affordable and the quality and service were fantastic. There is also sliding scale for pricing the more tapes you have. I took 25 extremely old VHS tapes to Logan and he transferred them and got them back to me within days. He also called me shortly after I dropped them off to advise me that some of them had mould on the ribbon - he suggested FaceTime in order to show me, which was decent of him, so you know it's legit - and I was so relieved to hear that he could take care of that too. It does cost more per tape for the mould treatment but that is totally fair - it's a very reasonable amount and I was just so happy he could provide that service rather than me having to find somewhere else or worse, being told my tapes couldn't be transferred. If your tapes are jumpy that will show on the digital version too - don't expect stabilization or a higher quality image than the original you provide. In my experience, the tapes affected by that were usually just affected at the beginning and then evened out. You can provide a drive or purchase one through them but I opted to have mine put onto the cloud for a small fee so I could download it from there; the files stay available for three months to give you time to download them. (Makes sure you make several copies and keep them in more than one location before throwing away your originals. Learned my lesson after a near-loss of all my photos a couple of years ago which would have been absolutely devastating, so just including a reminder here!) In summary, got exactly what was wanted with zero stress or hassle, quickly and at a good price! SO appreciated! Thanks so much, Logan!!!
