Living in this day and age, there's thankfully no longer the stigma of shameful indecency attached…read moreto adult toy & video stores as in recent years past. Gone are the days of blacked out tinted windows, sketchy operating hours, and "regulars" who'd hang out at these establishments as if they were the neighborhood pub or local coffee shop seemingly eager to creep non-suspecting patrons out.
The everyday individual looking to pick something up to enhance their love life no longer needs to hide their identity with a hooded sweatshirt looking over each shoulder before entering a retail location such as Intimate Essentials. We've evolved from looking at such shopping as taboo and so these retails spots also had to evolve. Like pretty much any other adult store in 2019, Intimate Essentials has bright lights, welcoming atmosphere, clean decor, and technology advancements in product selection that would have seemed unfathomable even a mere decade ago!
So, what separates this Intimate Essentials location in West Roxbury from not only all the other locations the chain empire has scattered throughout MA, but also the plethora of alternative businesses offering customers the same type of selection?
I can say with certainty that after browsing through a bunch of other Intimate Essential locations, Ive always made an effort to return to this location due to the customer service. Specifically, the customer service that has been provided to me by store manager Kelsey, who I now call to make sure is working before taking the trip over to the store!
I understand that in an attempt to make customers feel more at home and comfortable while shopping, it is mandated by store policy that employees engage the customer as soon as they walk through the door enthusiastically trying to help find what they need. Personally, I found that with the other locations I've been to, the well intentioned employees come off a bit smothering and overly friendly.
Kelsey greeted me the first time I went into this location, and having her help me throughout the transaction was honestly a breath of fresh air! Kelsey welcomed me into the store with a smile and asked if I needed help in locating anything, however, she didn't hover over my shoulder like employees at other IE locations. She knew the store's inventory in and out, made me aware of all the loyalty program benefits, made relevant and helpful suggestions in product selection.
Kelsey understands this business; she is able to read her customers and gauge what level of interaction they need from her in a sensitive retail atmosphere where this skill is paramount!
She was overall the embodiment of customer service excellence in a retailer/patron climate where anything less could easily turn a customer away if they even for a moment felt somewhat uncomfortable or potentially embarrassed (this is especially true for the first time shoppers).
If anyone is looking at reviews of different locations, I urge you to make the trip over to Intimate Essentials in West Roxbury. However, before you take the drive over, give them a call and verify Kelsey is working that day because with this sort of shopping experience, customer service can make or break your time at the store! Kelsey will make sure to make you not only feel comfortable in your own skin, but help you find exactly what you need!
