Dutch Mill Café and Bar is a quiet little place. We came here for lunch, on our trip up to Breckenridge from Santa Fe on SR285. It has sandwiches and burgers, which were all good. I tried the carne adovada, because it was the only place I had ever seen it advertised that was an entire pork chop rather than pieces of pork. The pork chop itself was dry and the flavoring seemed to be a dry rub. The rest of the meal was fine. read more

I just got done eating the best huevos rancheros I've eaten in a while! The chili verde here is so flavorful yet just mild. (Since I've aged I'm forced to only eat mild salsa.) This is one of two places in Antonito open before 11am and serving breakfast. They were directly on our route so we stopped in. As we were entering, a party of four was leaving and one of them made a point to turn towards me and say it was so worth the wait. Wow! When we entered, there was only one other person eating. It was after 10am, so after the rush. As we perused over the menu, I felt that the prices were really reasonable and they didn't overcharge for combos and sides. That was nice! We entered on the café side, but it's attached to a bar on the other side and the restrooms are in the back of the bar. I noticed the bar had a lot of space and even more seating than the café, as well as several pool tables. I would say the café had about 10-12 tables and then a register to pay at the back. My husband ordered the quesadilla which was thick and hit the spot. I'm not positive of the price but I believe it was $5-6. Service was friendly and the delivery time was good. Unfortunately the flies were WAY too persistent. There were only 2 flies but they were working together to badger us out of food, lol. I can't really be mad at them for having 2 persistent flies harassing us, it was NOT an infestation! I ordered the strawberry pancakes and am pretty sure they were $6 or maybe $6.25. I never know what to expect in this scenario. I always hope the fruit is cooked into the pancake because I think that's the most awesome thing in the world. These were regular pancakes topped with a generous portion of strawberries and whipcream. The best part is the strawberries had soaked into the pancakes- it was delicious and didn't need syrup or anything!! It was way too much to finish too. I had ordered a side of papas which was under $1.50 They were good but a little on the cold side. The only thing I didn't think was worth the price was $3.49 for 3 small pieces of bacon. Not much else to eat and yelp reviews were decent so thought we would try it. Service was slow. Enchiladas were cold, cheese not even melted in inside. There aren't many choices in Antonito when it comes to restaurants. This was one of 2 so we gave it a go. Our waitress brought out some chips and salsa, they were very good. I ordered the fajita salad which was small for the price but fresh and tasty. My son had the Combination plate and said it was pretty good considering. My husband had a beef sandwich and thought it was decent and my other son had a burger. The prices were a little high in my opinion. Our server was the only one and was working her tail off but she was very good and efficient. Considering the options and location, it's not gourmet but I'd go again if I found myself in Antonito. read more

The restaurant is located right on the Main Street- dining room was modest and there were a few shaded tables out front where we chose to sit. This is hands down the best place for breakfast. The green chili and red chili they use to smother their breakfast burritos with is amazing. The perfect amount of spicy with so much flavor. It is not uncommon for my family to drive 45 minutes out of our way when we are in the part of Colorado to eat here. The tortillas are homemade. I have tried several items off their menu and have never been disappointed. My girls love the pancakes, French toast, and hamburgers. read more

Have been to the Dutch Mill several times while visiting friends who have a mountain home in the area. While it's not fancy (at all) the place is clean, the service friendly and fast and the food is good. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. My wife and I have only had the Mexican food which we like a lot. The green chile sauce rivals that of Albuquerque restaurants. I recommend the burritos and stuffed sopapillas. Any time we are in the area we eat there at least once. It's definitely worth the 1/2 hour drive from our friend's place. read more

Only three stars because we were thirsty and in the mood for coffee in the middle of a summer drive and iced coffee was quite mediocre it was just hot drip coffee poured over ice but it didn't taste very good. But the service was extremely good and it's definitely where the locals eat there were a handful of people starting to come in and start ordering dinner items I guess. read more

Oh my! Guy at hotel recommended the burger joint, but local mosquito flock & outdoor only dining nixed that idea. So I went to the Dutch Mill. Wanted chicken, no chicken. Guy across aisle wanted baked potato ... no baked potatoes (really?). Ordered fish sammie & fries. Fish was cooked to a frazzle but edible, fries were awful (greasy, color was deep brown, maybe burnt umber ... cooking oil must have been ancient). I've survived (so far), but it's still early :-). I think a drive to Chama or Alamosa for a meal would be a better idea (my plans for tomorrow's dinner). Definitely skip this place. read more

I was in heaven with their breakfast burrito....I think the grande is what I ordered. We had just finished the 5k in the neighboring town and were looking for a great place to have breakfast and my hubby, a native of the area wanted me to give this place a whirl. Boy am I glad I did. It's a cute little restaurant with a bar next door. The food was ok and the service was friendly. They had burgers and sandwiches as well as quite a few Mexican options. I ate here a time or two during fishing trips on the Conejos a few years back, and it seemed like it was barely in business. But during a trip in October, I went there for dinner, and it seemed like new management had come in. The steak & enchilada plate knocked me off my feet. It was a simple meal, but it was splendidly done, real deal Tex Mex like you can't get at Chili's or IHOP, (even if it wasn't in TX). Really bad food which looks just as bad as it tastes. No flavor, no color. The staff are very fast and nice but food tastes more like paper and water. Decor is old and dirty. Nothing to make you want to eat there again. Pass it up and drive to Alamosa. read more
