I am a former student of the Reading Tree ACT/SAT preparation course, and I would fully recommend…read moreit to anyone looking for a quality program with outstanding results. I am currently a senior in high school and along with my grades, my great ACT score has given me the opportunity to attend my dream school, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and I can attribute my ACT success to my experience with the Reading Tree program. I am so happy with my choice to attend the Reading Tree program. I had other friends in similar ACT prep programs with hundreds of students being taught by very few teachers. They said that they felt as if they "never got any personalized attention" and that it was a "waste of time." I found this to be the complete opposite at the Reading Tree. The teachers were warm and patient (regardless of the level of the student), and they always had an answer to my questions. The intimate environment really made me feel that my success was a primary goal to the program. Along with the books we received for homework and practice tests, we got a binder that had so many different helpful hints and tricks that I used when I took my test (and my test results confirmed...they definitely work). I felt the homework assignments to be well thought-out and relevant to what we needed to focus on. I can't say enough about how successful I feel the Reading Tree program is. From its personalized program, helpful text materials, well-educated teachers, and of course, great test results, I feel that it is beneficial to any junior or senior looking to do well on their tests; it is definitely worth it. Thank you to all my teachers!

They get one star for some of the nice people there but overall I can not even express the level of…read moredisappointment I have. My children were constantly sick, it was disorganized, they couldn't follow directions about my children. My son was bitten and NO ONE told me about it until I asked what happened. Also, the camera system network was overloaded and had serious blind spots that the teachers would hang out in. Even though we are no longer with them I can still access it which says a lot about their security. I probably would have just parted ways and quietly went on our way, my son did learn some things there and did make some friends. However, they informed me two weeks after we left and over two months after the fact that I had missed a payment. The owner refused to return any phone calls to my husband on the matter and they sent it to collections adding over $100 in additional fees to the original balance. After I found the receipt for the week in question they supposedly rectified it with the collection people however they had previously told my husband they couldn't do anything about it once it was in collections. So we can just add lying and misdirection to the heap. No one has offered an apology and instead of addressing my complaints they just deleted my review on Facebook. Both of which would have gone a long way in rectifying this situation and leaving my husband and I with a more complacent view of them.

The school is run by a principal who lives in the neighborhood and who has children at the school,…read moreteachers that live in the neighborhood and have children at the school. The children who attend the school are from people who never left the neighborhood. If your child or you yourself are not from the neighborhood and do not drink the kool-aid you and your children will be treated poorly and graded poorly. The school does not encourage diversity, the staff is not diversified. The staff is comprised of mostly people from the area. Many parents are entitled police and fireman with the gangsta in a uniform mentality, which in turn the children mimic. This in turn makes the school environment hostile for children, who are learning intolerance for people different than them. Instead of being sensitive and aware of the problem, the leadership is more concerned about their hyper inflated ego and the fact responses are to conflict are threatening to you and your child's education. The best one I heard was "I am responsible for the largest school in the Archdiocese" and I personally, and I..I..I. No addressing situations that cause concern for your child. Just I..I..I. There are a few great teachers who do not deserve this review. There are others that I question their mental fitness to work with our youth. In one instance I questioned a grade for my child who loves school, and my child was torn down, made accusations against, and our family was torn down with my child. All for noticing a grading discrepancy. Don't expect anything less than South Side drama here.
