We love the variety of things to do and good food to try.in the afternoon got crowded but still the organization and the space made everything great and allowed people to have a great time. Then we waited in a line to board the shuttle bus to take us to the Fairgrounds..about a 10 or so minute ride. Bag check before entering and paying $20 admission fee. It was crowded and proceeded to get more crowded as the hours passed. Lines for almost all vendors were very long. To get into the beer tent was extremely long so we did not even bother (plus ID must be shown and we did not bring ours). We ate a few things and all was expensive. The loaded tater tots were really good, although $14. Fried dough $12 and corn dog $8. Yikes. We caught a few songs when Styx performed. We visited the animals and some other exhibits. We played a few games, but they were so costly and all gave cheap prizes. Overall we did have a good time, but leaving was a nightmare. There were long lines to get to the shuttle buses to get back to the parking area. We waited at least 1 hour. All the vendors and exhibits had already closed. Once we were back at the parking lot it took another 40 min to get out! Not sure the crowds and expense are worth it, so not sure we will come again.

This year it seemed a little short and a little less thrilling. Too many bare spots and then waiting for the interactive areas. For the price I would prefer to be much longer. Thank you to the lovely pair of parking attendants who were not only fun to talk to but also took time to answer some of our questions. Thank you to the two ticket takers who offered to take a picture of me and my friend. Thank you to Kristina, our amazing guide. You have a wonderful and fun personality! Thank you to the scary dude with the loud horn thingy for helping my friend and I in and out of the pillory for photos. Thank you to the amazing actors who made this experience so thrilling. And thank you to all the folks who put in hours upon hours towards putting it all together starting in MARCH! The attraction was beautifully and sinisterly built. The special effects were cool and disorienting. Momma, I sure hope you found your cookbook. Ha! Such a great time! Can't wait for next year! My wish is to have more actors to terrorize us within the attraction. :)

Crystal-clear water + sunny spring day = perfect hike…read more Spent a beautiful spring sunny day at Wadsworth Falls State Park, and it did not disappoint. I took so many pictures of the clear river. It's seriously that stunning. The swimming water vanished. We hiked the Wadsworth Falls Loop (3.6 miles, easy, great waterfall views) and also checked out part of the Main Trail. Trails were in good shape; just a little mud here and there, but totally manageable. Bonus tips from my visit: · Dogs welcome on leash · Free for CT-registered cars; $10-15 for out-of-state · Restrooms, parking, and picnic tables available · Get there early on a sunny day to beat the crowds If you love clear water, peaceful forest walks, and two distinct waterfalls, don't miss this spot. Already planning to come back with an all-terrain wheelchair for a friend (you can reserve one in advance). Would I go again? 100%.

If you have the right footwear in winter, it's a place for a rewarding hike! Boots and grips and the occasional side stepping is good for your winter trip. Mind the tracks, or crews tending the still in-use tracks, then enjoy the lovely views of multiple waterfalls, some frosted over, but water audibly rushing beneath the ice. Starting out, we didn't see the blue trail marked on the yellow and orange junction map, but the trails were well-marked with vertical tree blazes, so if you take the orange, yellow, or blue trails, you should be in good shape. If you don't have the time for a decent hike and just need a restful stop, large falls are just below the parking lot (those no access signs on the trails don't kid!). All year, enjoy! There are zero facilities here, and the only amenities appear to be accessible recreation and a dog waste station beneath the parking lot, but you aren't in the middle of nowhere. Pack in, pack out, and enjoy as much or little woods as you like, and enjoy the peaceful sounds and sights of the many falls.

On November 23, 1855, he and his partner tried to break up a fight on Morocco Street. Before they made an arrest, both officers were badly beaten and Cummins passed away from his injuries the next day. So Cummins became the first New Haven Police Officer to die in the line of duty. He also became the first of 137 names memorialized on this extremely powerful monument honoring the Connecticut law enforcement officers across the decades of time that have fallen while protecting and defending the citizens of the Nutmeg State. Plans for the monument go back to 1985 when the Connecticut Police Chief's Association appointed a committee to establish a permanent memorial to honor the local, state and federal officers who paid the ultimate price. This striking granite memorial was dedicated in 1989 and stands on the grounds of the Connecticut Police Academy in Meriden. It's an open walled gray granite square with 12 perimeter columns and a center black obelisk engraved with "Dedicated to those who have made the supreme sacrifice". There are engraved names, locations, and dates on the obelisk and the perimeter columns. An eternal flame on a black base is engraved with two words in gold - "Never Forget". The memorial site also includes two granite benches and two flagpoles flying the American flag, POW flag, and CT flag.
