There's something for everyone!!! Our toddler and friends had such a blast here. There's so much to do, including water play, building, open sensory areas, play with lighting, experiment sections, and book areas. We are easily able to spend a couple hours here, and it's great to be able to grab a bite downstairs too. We would love to make our visits recurring in the year! read more

I brought my very active 51/2 Yr old grandson for the first time. He loved the water area, the green wooden hills, the quiet area, and the mechanical (for lack of a better word) area. Sadly two fo the mechanical things were broken: one would not work, and the other the one of the hoses the balls were to go through was tearing and while there were extra hoses available, they did not hook up correctly. We visited here on first night when driving to Chicago last week. Parking was fine since a few hours before closing. The cafe in basement was closed. The first floor looked like tornado went through. Honestly earlier time of 4pm closing is probably when staff does cleaning and sorting. It is too bad there isn't cleaning and sorting throughout the day. A lot of exhibits are for older kids so my son didn't find much interested in it. Outdoors was tinker lab with bubbles which closed early at 3pm. 2nd floor was quieter and not as crowded. There were a few places for baby play area. Overall we were underwhelmed with this. Kohl children museum had outdoor play area which looked better which we visited the next day. This is closer to our hotel but not much for our son's interest. This is better probably when he is older. read more

An annual membership is an investment but a well-spent one. Our two girls love it and we have been going on a monthly basis and mostly sticking to weekdays when it's less crowded. The summer hours are shorter than the winter but each of our visits are a minimum of two hours. There are two levels of exhibits with a vast variety that is interactive and immersive. Some of the activities require critical thinking and problem solving. Whereas some activities cater to the curious and creative little minds. There is something for everyone. My two girls particularly enjoy the second floor where there are huge wooden blocks to build all sorts of structures, the Lego section, and climber. They have yet to discover the water and arts and craft sections so there is plenty more for them to explore on our next visit. read more

The museum is fun if you've never been here before. We decided to come today with daddy because he took the day off and since it is still chilly outside we figured we would come here today. Fridays they are open until 8pm. Grandma, Natalie, and I have been here one other time. Now that Natalie is eight years old, she had a lot of fun and made lots of friends for the day. She liked the wood working area. In my personal opinion, It is definitely not worth the price for what you get to do. Sure it is worth $17 for the kids admission but adults and seniors should be $10 max. it's very expensive $16 for seniors and $17 for everybody else. I know they have special pricing for people on government assistance programs which is nice. But to just sit around not doing anything was not worth it. I don't think I'll be back again. Glad we came one last time. I think this place is better for kids under 6. read more

My daughter who is 3 loves this place! She is still trying to figure out everything but it's great exposure for her and she's learning new things everytime we go there. The place is clean and organized, staff all around are making sure things go back to their original spots because we know how kids end up just moving things around the whole museum. I like how they had a coat room. It was easy to just leave that there instead of carrying coats around the museum. They have a cafe downstairs but I haven't tried the food yet, it seems like they got kid friendly items. The upstairs has more puzzles. Overall, it was a nice setup and the kids are enjoying themselves. I don't even think I hear any cries cuz the kids are just so busy with all the different items they interact with!! read more

The ball with the air and hovering in the air was a family favorite! Also, the electric unit that you used to make certain items move was super neat. I recently visited the DuPage Children's Museum with my kids, and overall, the museum itself was fun. Lots of great activities for children. My kids had a good time, and my son loved the bubble maker. It's great place for them to explore and play. However, I was really disappointed by the behavior of one of the staff members during our visit. While we were getting into the elevator, a little girl (maybe around 3 years old) followed us in with no parent in sight. I looked around for her parents but couldn't find anyone, so I went to get help from a staff member. Her response was, "You should take her to guest services." I was honestly shocked. I'm a complete stranger. why would a worker think it's appropriate for a random visitor to escort a lost child instead of handling the situation herself? That's not only unprofessional but also a serious safety concern. This employee clearly lacked the awareness and responsibility required to work in an environment full of young children. It's a shame, because the museum itself is great, but the lack of proper staff training and attentiveness really ruined the experience for me. I hope management takes safety and staff accountability more seriously in the future read more

Hubby and I brought our toddler and 3 nieces here on a weekday while they were visiting. It wasn't crowded and they kids were able to play where they wanted (probably because we went on a weekday). The older two enjoyed the wood working area while the water and bubbles station was a hit with our toddler. There's a cafe on the bottom level and you are welcome to bring your own food to enjoy. There's many different stations/things to do throughout the museum and we spent about ~3.5-4.5 hours at the children's museum. If we lived closer I would totally buy a yearly pass. read more

We've been coming here since our almost 3 year old could walk and we adore this museum. Last year we bought the cheapest membership and it has paid for itself many times over. It's perfect for a rainy day or when you just need a few hours to occupy your little one. The water table is a constant favorite, and as he gets older he gets to explore more of the exhibits in an increasingly in depth way. They have rotating exhibits and even on crowded days he can still find a spot for himself to play. If you aren't a member, they do let you decide if you want your admission for the day to contribute to a membership before you leave, which was nice and we were convinced after by the end of our first visit. read more

I've been wanting to take my daughter here for some time and finally was able to with a Groupon. The museum itself is pretty nice with various activities to try such as wind, water, bubbles, engineering, a little area just for toddlers, pretend cooking, and more. Everything wasn't super well kept since we couldn't do some displays as they weren't working. They do have a pretty decent variety. There were bubbles and a water table. My daughter really enjoyed the lights and the pretend food area. They have an upstairs, but that appears to be more geared toward older kids, although there was a little book corner my daughter was able to get "nice and cozy" (her words). We went on a Saturday morning and it wasn't too crowded. I think it's a little too small for the price, especially with the displays being a little run down, but with a Groupon it was worth it and we had a nice time. read more

If you are a parent and have younger children - this is the place to go ESPECIALLY in the winter when outdoor things are closed or you want to have your child burn off some energy! It can get busy on the weekend but the staff are always friendly, direct and helpful. I feel like staff try to do what they can to keep all the kids safe and it seems like things are sanitized pretty offer (covid/and just generally). They have multiple sections of play including a water table (my child's favorite, yay me), wind/air section, building areas, art rooms, motor skills, and even an area for those under 2!! Plenty of activities and games to play however, even after washing my kids hands and making sure he put nothing in his mouth he still got hand, foot, and mouth disease. After endless thought about why this may have occurred in the three hours we were there, never once did we see any staff cleaning. This museum is great because it is updated has multiple floors and all the displays looked very well cared for the museum was also super clean and definitely more clean and updated then others we have visited. Such a nice water area for the kids too. My only wish is that there was more to see and do here! I used to take my son quite often, he is now closer to 11 and not interested. This review is mostly based on our Party experience today. Hosted a party for my daughter turned 1. First, I had no idea there was an event today. It was absolute chaos and extremely congested. The party for a total of 20-25 people was $270. Compared to other places like urban air, Chuck E. Cheese, etcetera it's kind of steep (but that's also Naperville for you). I paid it no biggie, I was also informed if there are additional guests (over 250) the cost would be an extra $17pp. I wasn't expected many people or at least none over 25 or so I thought. There were 22 adults, and 18 kids the party was over $500. That is absolutely insane. Second, within that $270 it included nothing but the room. You are literally paying to rent their room. I asked about balloons and was repeatedly told NO LATEX balloons (choking hazard), I was even reminded that again when I arrived - the message was well received. I was told no outside food with the exception of cake, (cafe is right by the party rooms) cool but as we were leaving I saw another party with bottled water and juice. Lastly, the room was from 1-2:30. I could have sworn I was told 1-3 which would have been more reasonable. Some of my guests didn't even arrive until 1:30 and we were literally rushed and timed out of the room it felt like. **My advice: don't book a party here. If money isn't an issue and you don't mind paying $500 god speed. Confirm and get a final headcount on the number of guests. Pros: mostly for kids ages 1-8. There was an area for children under 2 which I thought was adorable. Even at age 10 (almost 11), my son still enjoyed the bubble area, and the woodworking shop. read more

I was very disappointed because online it's advertised as nice good quality food. They don't actually have baked veggie tots, they're actually just regular tots, and the pumpernickel kids piano had no pumpernickel. I loved having Charlie's bday here! Check in and check out was so easy.. Catering was so easy with DCM. Everything is organic and I love that they are honest with you. I loved the pizza, the chicken chickadillas and the fruit was so sweet! You can bring in soft drinks if you choose. And bring in catered approved food for special ethnic reasons. Charlie had a blast! They provide an assistant (Naomi was stellar) that helps with needing extra plates to passing out cake to assisting with the instructor led activity to making announcements over the intercom when we needed to gather all the kids for cake or another activity. Charlie had a blast from the water table to puddy making experiment to the bubble machine to all the other motor skill activities in the facility. She got a birthday cup that is refillable and a DCM bday t-shirt. We booked an extra hour in the party room so we didn't feel rushed which definitely helped. We enjoy taking our son (younger than 2) here. There's so much to do and LOTS of hands on/interactive activities for kids of all ages. There are designated areas for children two and under (but they're welcome everywhere). The staff is very friendly and helpful too. One suggestion is to bring an extra set of clothes if your child will be at the water station. Even with an apron that's provided my son looked like he just got out of the bath! We drove over an hour to the children's museum. If I could redo yesterday all over again we would have went anywhere but here. I'm sorry but $150 for my family to come here for a day was absolutely not worth it. The price is way too expensive if you asked me. Also this place is rated for children five and under my seven-year-old was so bored the entire time. she told me that it was basically rated for babies or toddlers. I agree with her. This place was so dirty and disgusting I don't know if they even clean it. This stairwell the railing that you hold had so much buildup and grime on it that I wiped it with one of the baby wipes and you don't even wanna know what came off. While I was watching babies sneeze and slobber all over everything I was looking around at the other parents and they were also pretty disgusted. Babies will be babies nothing against them, but the staff were walking around the entire time we were there but they weren't cleaning they were just picking up garbage off the ground but not like in between when something was open because there was no kids on it quickly wiping it down or something. The walls are disgusting there is so much buildup on them and grime. The bathroom on the lower level had no soap the bathroom on the main level had no soap. Mind you we got there right when they opened at 9 AM and we went to go wash our hands at 10. So within the hour of opening they completely ran out of soap or it was never filled. I'm gonna go with my second opinion. Overall I don't recommend this place. I have been to other children museums. I have even ventured to the ones in Wisconsin etc. this one was the absolute worst I have ever been to. It needs a lot of TLC. And should be called a toddler museum not a children's museum. If you have a baby or a toddler this might be the place for you just know they don't wipe anything down or clean it. read more

The price is pretty steep at $17 for adults and children over 1 but they honored our reciprocal membership discount for being a member of Oregon Museum of Science and Industry which cut the admission price in half. We had no idea how massive this place is and there's so much to do and see and touch. We only budgeted an hour or so and wish we had given ourselves way more time as we had only visited about half the museum. I love our museum in Oregon but this museum is way more targeted towards the toddler and young kids stage. If we lived in Naperville, we would buy a membership in a heartbeat! read more

The DuPage Children's Museum is one of the best places you can bring your (younger) children for an hour or a whole day - it's fun combined with learning. How can you beat that? I actually do not know where to begin because this place offers SO MUCH for children (and adults) to do. There are places to build, to explore, to learn, to splash, to experiment, to read, etc. It's everything under one roof in a safe and fun environment. The staff is friendly and always roaming around keeping the place on the up and up. It shows too, usually places like this can become a bit dingy after some years but they really do a good job of keeping everything in clean and operating order. After a visit or two there was no question in our mind to become members as, after a few visits, the membership pays for itself. Trust me, if you live in the area you will find this to be a great resource (especially in the winter months!). Honestly, don't delay another minute and go check this place out. This children museum is by far the best in Chicago. From the outside the building looks dull, unexciting and dated. Park your car and walk in the entrance and you go into another world. The activities here are very creative, hands on experiences, fun and educational! It differs from the other museums in the sense that it is more interactive here while the other ones rely on bigger items such as cars or digging station or climbing trees that takes up lots of space but is yet only one dimensional. This museum may not be as big but is the things within are very intelligently created and organized. read more

Soooooooooooooooooo much fun. Even though we were there during Christmas break, the children had a great time exploring. Yes, it was crowded and parking is an absolute nightmare. Ticket line is right as you enter, there is a small toy shop in that area, and there is a coat room for jackets with some lockers available. However, 3 and a half hours passed quickly and we still did not stop at every station. Also, you can get a stamp for re-entry ~ great idea for those who live close. During the week when school is in session, it is not nearly as crowded. Most of the children were well behaved but some were not being supervised because their parent/sitter/guardian was busy on their cell phone. I did get a chuckle out of the grandmother who did not read the electricity conduction exhibit board and thought that the exhibit was broken because her grandchild was trying the tube that was least conductive. Never too old to learn something new. Aprons are provided in the water play area, but, again, some let their children roam the museum with the apron on so no one else can use it, and they get soaking wet and no longer serve a purpose. Maybe bring a waterproof apron from home or make sure you have a change of clothes. There is a food area in the basement, but we left to have lunch at home. Plan on leaving exhausted ~ LOL read more

I took my niece to this. First, I felt the $17 per person and $17 per child was significant. I should have claimed asylum seeker as I would have gotten a 50 percent discount. No discount for hard working, law abiding, tax paying citizen. Second, I was greatly disappointed that NONE of the equipment had changed in 20 years, since I took my daughters there. Third, I thought it was ridiculous that 50 percent of the play equipment didn't work. Your charging a premium price for half the enjoyment. Fourth, the cost for a water, 4 slice pizza was outrageous. I would not recommend this place as clearly they are more concerned with sucking the Naperville tax payer or unknowingly extorting money from the parent / caretaker trying to take their loved one there for a good time. But, the young explorers exhibit had her busy for 30 minutes then we ventured outside to the area right around it. If you're thinking about bringing your baby or young toddler here, DO IT! We are members at Kohl's children's museum and this museum is part of the reciprocal program. We LOVED this museum and were pleasantly surprised by how different the two museums were from one another. Our three year old loved exploring the three levels of this museum. We were even able to catch a puppet show. One reason for the five star review is that unlike Kohl's the cafeteria in this museum caters to the food allergy community. We felt comfortable ordering and letting our son eat there. Overall great place to checkout when the weather outside is not ideal for out play. read more

So much fun to be had! Water activities, building, science, art... this is a great place to learn through fun! We enjoy coming here and experiencing all the different areas. My son particularly loved the area by the window where you put a ball in a tube and a vacuum pulls it through and spits it out. You can easily spend hours here playing around. There's a small baby area, but for the most fun I'd say it's best for kids between like 3 and 12. It can get busy and crowded, so advance tickets are recommended (and Save you a little bit of money!) but it's definitely worth a visit. Or two. Or three! read more
