Shout out to Dunnes Stores in Wexford town, Ireland.
First of all, I like Dunnes stores itself, especially kids clothing section.
BUT. Staff is horrible at customer service. Each time I go there, I think that. This time, I decided to write a review. I was shopping with my kid in a stroller. I have asked to do a price check on the till, because the item had no price tag and was the last one in that color/design. Cashier let out a loud sigh. Then said f-k. She asked where I've found it and if there were anymore like it. I said where and I told her there were more like it, but it was the last one in that design. Then she asked the next customer (I couldn't understand why she didn't ask me) to read the small numbers on the inner side of the item. Other customer assistant brought her a similar item at the same time and told the price, then left. I said that I would like to leave it behind. She said f-k a couple more times. She called the other assistant back and tried to scan item to void it, but the codes didn't match, so she said f-k again and asked the colleague to read out the code on the inner side again. During all this she didn't look me in the eyes and face. I will remind you, that I was with a toddler when she was swearing. In my opinion, swearing shouldn't be allowed with customers. Swearing is never okay with kids near. He could have easily picked up that word as he is in 'repeat everything' talking stage.
When she sighed, she made me feel like I ruined her day, interrupted her horribly and she is doing the biggest favor for me ever. That is not okay. Customer asking to check a price is HER JOB. She is getting paid to do that. While working, she is representing the store. While she was swearing and not looking me in the eyes during, it made me feel horrible about myself, ashamed, like a criminal, like I did something wrong. But I didn't do anything wrong. It was a regular customer query. I was polite, I said please and thank you and never lost my temper. When she voided the item, I said 'I'm sorry about that and thank you' thinking it will bring out some nicer manners out of her. She murmured something like 'it's fine'. When she didn't look at me again, I loudly said 'have a good day'. When I was leaving, I heard her say to the next customer 'I am sorry about that'. Yes, I held off the que for a couple of minutes, but I didn't do anything wrong. I am allowed to change my mind. I was polite. I asked to check the price, not to scan it through. The fact that she needed to void it, was on her. How she behaved and talked to me, is not okay. She was so rude to me. I am definitely going to avoid her the next time. Dunnes, do better. Give some training about customer service, doing their job and being polite to your Wexford store. read more
