I've never been one for being organised in my personal life. Making appointments or reservations?…read moreNever! I like to be spontaneous. Yesterday's inspiration was reiki, something I've been wanting to try for a long time. A friend of mine had her life turned around be reiki, and it's been a source of curiosity for me ever since. I was determined that yesterday would be the day I would find out if it was really all that life changing, but finding reiki somewhere at short notice proved to be almost impossible - until I found The Healthy Life Centre. The Healthy Life Centre is like being in my mum's house, but with more healing music and quieter people - it's definitely not an upmarket salon type experience. However, it is cosy, warm and soothing, which are all the ingredients you need for a massage/reiki/healing experience. My reiki (master?), Sam, was lovely, and set me, the newbie up very comfortably. I had to admit, I don't know if I like reiki after yesterday or find it lifechanging, but it did produce some interesting results - some of the questions asked at the end, and locations of problematic energy pointed to things that I didn't discuss, so I'm always a little impressed at that - and gives me a little reason to believe magic still exists in the world. I'll definitely go back again.

The building itself is in need of upgrading but it is not that bad as it is a recent enough build. Accessible for wheelchair users. The Medical Center is occupied by 2 GP practices. mine is Dr Tolley's one. The GPs in this practice tend to stay a long time (2+ years or so). I feel really taken care of and listened to. The doctors I have consulted really take time to hear me out and find out what is wrong. They also have medical assistants and practice nurses, whom are efficient and very friendly (bar 1 or 2 occasions). As I have a chronic condition I require repeat prescriptions. Which they let me order by email. Opening times are until 6pm which makes it good for when you finish work and still need to visit them - saves taking time of work! Good job Dr Tolley!

The reception, doctors and nurses have always been great and I've never had too much trouble getting an appointment. All the doctors have been friendly and have been good about listening to what I've had to say. The nurses are always relaxed and kind and good at making sure I'm comfortable. No complaints at all.

I have only been for one massage here but it was fine. I would have gone back if I hadn't happened to have found one that suited me needs a lot more (see my FASIC review). It was a fairly standard affair. All I can say is that it was relaxing and acted as pain relief, although I didn't feel it was as satisfying long term form my problem as other physios I've had in Edinburgh. An 45 minute physio appointment costs £40 (slightly above average), an hour massage costs around £40 (unfortunately that's about average). I get he impression that Lippstreu is quiet a new centre, and is possibly still establishing itself. We will need to wait and see if it becomes successful. So far, no complaints, but it doesn't stand out as the best.

I'm an avid cyclist and the prospect of an extended period off the bike was daunting. I chose it purely on the basis that it was close to my place of work but would now recommend it on the basis of service received. The problem with my knee was diagnosed quickly and without fuss and then a very effective treatment was proposed and carried out. After two visits my knee has seen a fantastic recovery. I don't normally write reviews, in fact this is my first, but I'm so pleased I felt compelled.

This has been my first experience with Osteopathy and I didn't quite know what to expect. With a long line injuries, both major and minor, and being in chronic pain, I was ready to try something new. I noticed a difference from the very first session. David is amazing at helping relive pain and helping you to work towards longer term solutions. He takes every care in making sure you are understanding what he's doing and why. He never rushes you out or make you feel as if you are an inconvenience, like many people can do. I highly recommend visiting Soma, even if you just have headaches occasionally or a small back pain that you think will just go away on it's own. It could be a part of something larger and better to get it dealt with. I receive therapeutic massages form Claire - and am all the better for it. She works in conjunction with my Osteopath sessions and we ensure that each session helps me to reach my ultimate goals to improve various muscles and long term trauma. My last session alone has given me full range of motion in my neck again.
