Do NOT rent from Dunes- should have been a 0! We arrived yesterday at 225a dogwood drive north and the house was evidently not cleaned- dust, mold, heavily stained bed skirts, comforters, decorative pillows. The kitchen table, wood flooring, sofas, were in horrible condition. The chairs in the kitchen were missing spools, the railing leading up to the house was not secured. Two of the sliding glass doors did not locked and were being secured with pieces of wood. The bunk beds in the kids room had ladders not secured, screws sticking out. The pool was dirty when we arrived- chemicals sitting in pool area itself- gate leading to pool completely broken off. This is a house with poor maintenance and upkeep. We walked down to the office to report it and the middle age women didn't even look at me when I was reporting the problem- she passed me the phone to housekeeping and the woman on the other line was just as confused as I was. I explained our issues and had tons of photos. They sent housekeeping to our house and we had her clean the oven. She was not quipped with cleaning supplies to reach the growing mold on one of the bathroom Ceilings. We were told maintenance would be out but with no timeline. We went back to office Sunday morning and had our list of items that we expected to be repaired. We were told that the maintenance guy, Ryan, responsible was on an avid bike ride and then had church and then would be able to assess. Why would this even be something we would be told? He came out while we were at the beach and my teenage nephew was there. He replaced the broken chairs, secured the ladder. He then proceeded to say that "no one will climb up to get into the house" and that "I can't replace two doors." Should have thought about that before you rented a house that had two unsecured doors, a gate to a pool that anyone can walk into and get hurt, and a house that clearly should not have been rented to anyone until these things were assessed and addressed. Do they not have someone walking through to complete preventative maintenance? These things clearly did not happen overnight. Also, strange that there were no reviews posted on Dunes site regarding this rental... Dunes should be ashamed of themselves - I wonder if the owners know this is how the "upkeep" with their house. This is the last time we rent from Dunes. Empathy and apologies go a along way- other than the housekeeping managers- Alyssa and Maria- the Dunes staff needs to be trained in service or they shouldn't be there. They also didn't tell you that we are in a flood zone and couldn't leave the house at certain times-- sometimes in the morning and then different times in the evenings the water would be so high you either couldn't leave the house or if you left you couldn't get back until the water receded. We rented Atalaya 904. We rented Saturday through Saturday. Actually renting process was quick and easy. The day of arrival was quick and easy also. Remember to either rent the linen or bring your own. I messed up and didn't rent at first had to call and get them and they were very quick and professional since it was my screw up. The good -Good A/C -Beautiful balcony view -Roof over your head -Place to sleep Atalaya Towers staff is wonderful, and we love Atalaya Towers and the Location. -Dunes Realty was easy to work with and professional when we went in to get keys. -king bed ain't bad. Me and my wife slept comfortably. The bad On walking in we noticed several stains -Stained walls, and ceilings -the pull out couch mattress is dirty. We pulled it out first night to use it and seen dirt and crumbs. We rolled it back up never used it you could tell cleaning crew hadn't touched it. -TV's don't work half the time. The TV Volume in the living room has to be all the way up the sound is going out. The service for all TVs will just cut out and stay off. -Tv in the main room has like a blue cut through it. If your just coming for the beach you'll be OK. If your coming to relax at night, maybe tough to do with the TV's. -Again on arrival noticed stains. I sent pic's immediately. -First night we didn't cook supper. 2nd night we did and this is when we noticed the microwave is so close to the stove you can't use a big pot. The popcorn ceiling is falling down due to moisture from prior cooking. I sent pics. -Couches are rough to sent on -Remote to tv in living room is missing the back. -Every rug needs replaced. They are wore out and or stained. Overall Condo was good enough to Lay down and sleep at night. Very dirty though. I will not be staying again unless it gets a good scrub. I paid too much for a dirty condo but my family had a blast at Atalaya. We will may rent again through Dunes Realty just not the condo. We will give them another shot. The owners need to audit the cleaning crew. read more

Just got home from a week's stay at My Blue Heaven with the guys. What a great week we had. The house, although dated, was really nice and comfortable. The one bedroom "apartment" and the three bedroom unit upstairs were laid out very nice. We loved that we could access the beach from anywhere on the property which made getting the kayaks to be beach much easier. Washer and drier, dishwasher coffee maker, etc. All the amenities we really needed. Beds were comfortable and the a/c worked great. And the property company was extremely nice and easy to work with. I didn't get any photos because the images on their website and VRBO are pretty much what you get. I couldn't have taken any better photos. I'll be renting from them again in April 2022. Might get the same house or may try another one. Who knows. But I'll definitely be back!!!!!! read more

On July 23rd, The general manager, Ryan Swain at Dunes Realty call me about an issue that I'm complaining about with my credit card on my stay at Surfmaster I-706 at Murrells Inlet SC, from the 22nd through 29th. The total cost was $1,540.35. I made my final payment of $935.95 on May 5th. I proceeded in telling him, on the 15th of June, at the recommendation from a salesperson at Dunes Realty, suggested that I should purchase the travel insurance policy from Generali Global Assistance & Insurance Services that is listed on Dune's Realty website, which has a special code to put in when purchasing the insurance program. As a result from speaking to the the salesperson at Dune's Realty, I purchased the insurance from June 15th through June 29th from Generali Global Assistance & Insurance Services. Our check-in was supposed to be Saturday the 22nd but we arrived on the 23rd of June and checked in to my unit I-706 Surfmaster in Murrells Inlet, SC. There are 3 issues that took place on my stay at Surfmaster. 1) We were exposed to covid somewhere between the 21st through 23rd of June on our travel to Murrells Inlet for our vacation stay at Surfmaster. We checked into Dunes Realty on June 23rd. On June 24th I made my first and only visit to the beach. On June 25th, I had a scratchy throat and coughing with sinus issues and fatigue. I went to Urgent Care in Murrells Inlet, SC. I was diagnosed with covid-19 on June 25th, 2024. They prescribed Paxlovid and Hydrocodone cough syrup. On June 26th I had to go to Tidelands Medical Center ER, in Murrells Inlet, SC due to complications from the Paxlovid. On the 28th I returned to the Tidelands ER for additional complications in breathing and coughing. They x-rayed me again and prescribed an antibiotic and steroids. My friend Mary came with me, who was also diagnosed with covid on the 28th of June as well. We suspect that she had covid all along because she had similar symptoms as I had, but tested negative on the June 25th at the Urgent Care. I had to quarantine in our unit at Surfmaster that we rented through Dune's Realty. I was never able to get on the beach for more than 5 hrs on 24th of June. I spent most of my time in bed. We had to check out of the unit on the 29th of June, after being turned down to stay longer because of our covid condition. 2) Dunes Realty, rented us unit I-706 at Surfmaster North Tower that had issues. The garbage disposal was broke and there was a water leak underneath the kitchen sink, that wasn't discovered until water started coming onto the kitchen floor. It was hard to find the switch to the garbage disposal because it was hidden in the frame of the mirror on the wall over the sink and when I did find it, the garbage disposal would not turn on because it was broke, which tells me they should have never rented us a unit with a broken garbage disposal. There were a number of other things going on with the unit. The air conditioner was not working properly, It made a pinging sound. We had to shut the bedroom door to go to sleep. I had to fix the top rack of the dishwasher to get it to work properly. 3) In their parking garage, my truck was damaged on the right rear panel by another vehicle that was trying to park next to me, but it left the scene. I had to call the police, for a report to be filed with my insurance company at State Farm. We cannot locate who did this damage. Pinnacle Realty who manages the property have cameras placed around the garage, but they have not responded back to me about any issues in the garage near my car. I explained to the general manager that we needed to be reimbursed for our full stay at Surfmaster $1540.85. Mr. Swain only offer me $150 for the garbage disposal issues. Have used Dunes over the years with no problems. So when we saw the problems,I assumed my concerns would be taken care of, after sending pics and talking to manager (R.S.) told me he saw nothing of concern. Post script: Manger came by and looked at problems & apologize for diswaser not be repaired and refunded some of cost. Will raise rating to 3 stars but this property does not reflect the quality I expected (at this price point) from previous stays booked thru Dune Realty. Will not rule out using them again but will be more cautious. read more

UPDATE: Within 2 hours of posting this review, Ryan from Dunes Office contacted me to apologize about the cleaning. Based on his level of concern and dedication to service, I am changing my rating from 2 stars to 4 stars. I am certain that post pandemic, Dunes will live up to all expectations. :) I've booked with Dunes on and off (mostly on) for 21 years. For the most part, the have been ok. There is a tendency to allow their properties get run down, but this may be the fault of the owners and not the Dunes staff. For this reason, we end up switching rentals every 3 years or so. I mention this because this is the first year with this particular rental (Portabello IV 110). It has a pending sale, so I really thought the place would be clean and in top notch condition. Alas, I was mistaken. The balcony furniture is in poor shape and any large people (such as myself) need to be particularly careful. The furniture and table are also filthy from being exposed to the elements. I would not even think about taking munchies out there or a bagel to go with my morning coffee. Again, this is the fault of the owners and not Dunes Realty. But what is the fault of the Dunes staff is the cleanliness, or lack there off, inside the house. There was sand and dust bunnies in the living room, as well as cheese puffs in the sofa. Had housekeeping had just moved the pillows, they would have seen them. But the worst conditions were upstairs in the bedrooms. All of the mattress pads were disgusting. The middle bed had sand in the bed and numerous body fluid stains on the mattress pad. The master bedroom pad had an equal amount of stains, but also feces and blood that had yet to be treated or any wash out attempted. When I called the office about the issue, the sent out new pads but had "no one available to put them on." Housekeeping is evidently very short staffed. I resent paying admin fees and cleaning fees on a house that isn't being cleaned. Time to switch rental companies. read more

It appears these guys will do the bare minimum to get bye. Our place was absolutely disgusting. Mattresses with no pads and what looks to be possible vomit stains and who knows what else (black light would be interesting.) pee stains, sweat stains, grease stains etc. dirty kitchen wear and utensils. No blinds worked in all 12 rooms. Yes, there were roaches everywhere. Dirty, dirty, dirty. Dirty carpet, God only knows when the comforters we slept in we're last washed. Those too were soiled. We had to double up with sheets to feel somewhat safe. At least we k ew those were clean. 1311 N Dogwood dr. had a pool. 9 of 10 kids all got swimmers ear. Look it up cause apparently the pool was also dirty. I wish I would have seen these reviews first as it looks like I'm one of many. read more

stayed at one of the Captains Walk properties, and I'm deliberately omitting which one because after speaking to several other renters at two different properties (house and condos) the filth is apparently widespread - carpets were filthy and the beds were uncomfortable, which is apparently the standard with dunes now - I get that this has been a hard year but they need to figure out some way to get some cleaners in there because three out of the four other renters I spoke to said their places were just unbelievably dirty, even worse than the place I rented - definitely would not rent from them again, this is a good lesson to read the reviews first and to only rent places where you can read reviews on the individual units. plus one star for cheapness (which should have been a tip off) and pleasant people in the office, good luck getting the properties cleaned over the winter read more

Rental at 811b Ocean Blvd was recently renovated and clean when we arrived. Ocean view was spectacular. Downside was the pool not heating/filtering correctly. 72 is not comfortable for swimming. Several attempts to contact property maintenance about this issue were acknowledged but not resolved during our stay. read more

Rented Beach House 309 week of 8/5/23 - 8/12/23. It was obvious upon entering unit, it had not been cleaned (I paid $130 cleaning fee). Found mold in both showers, stained pillows both bedrooms, some sort of filth along bottom of walls & fridge & leftover slice of pizza behind main TV. Also, at least 1/2 dozen Palmetto bugs both dead & alive. Dunes management customer service is useless ... offered no sort of compensation whatsoever (but did hand me a new shower liner to install myself , wrong type). After +25 yrs. of using Dunes, this is my last. BEWARE POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS OF THIS BUSINESS. read more

Our family of 9spent Aug. 3-10, 2024 at Texas Connection and thoroughly enjoyed each other in spit's of Tropical Storm Debby. It rained everyday but our 3 children swam in the pool anyway. It turned out that the pool was our saving grace. So many other things were sadly lacking. To begin with, the house was advertised as having 6 bedrooms when 2 could only be accessed from outside and 1 was locked! We really needed 5 bedrooms so our 11 yr old granddaughter had to sleep with the other 2 children. Our greeters when we checked in were large palmetto bugs (what we know as roaches)! And the ant invasion continued the rest of the week. There was ant bait on the kitchen counter next to the cook top but it didn't help at all. Dunes Realty sent an exterminator but it also did not help. In addition to all the above, the house needed a major cleaning. There was dust everywhere and looked like it had not been cleaned ina long time. We will never stay at Texas Connection again nor will we rent from Dune Realty. read more

Stayed at a rental this past week. Terrible. Their cleaning service does nothing. We came in with trash on the floor, cups of random liquids under the sinks, unwashed (stained) bedding. The worst part was the vents that had practically an inch of dust on them. Just breathing it in. They have no quality control. read more

Rented a beach front home from Dunes this year due to us having major issues with Surfside Realty. I am happy to say that we had an amazing experience with Dunes. Every employee we interacted with were pleasant and accommodating! Our home was beautiful and very clean. Thank you for a wonderful experience. Last week we stayed at a Dunes Realty property at 710 S Waccamaw Dr Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. This was for a long awaited family vacation in Myrtle Beach/Garden City. My parents had rented from Dunes Realty several times in the past without an issue. Arriving at 710 S Waccamaw Dr "Breeze Way" our excitement for the week quickly turned to disappointment and then to horror. Our first encounter was the side of the beach house which was half painted with missing siding. The grass in the front of the house was very tall and looked like it hadn't been cut in a month. I stayed in the bottom room on the ground level. As I walked in to check out the place, I noticed, to my horror, feces on the toilet seat from the last renters. Then, looking around the rest of the house, it seemed like it hadn't been cleaned in a long, long time. Everything looked dirty. I'm sure it has been vacuumed and trash thrown out, but never an adequate cleaning you'd expect from a rental. We were afraid to touch anything since it was so unclean. The AC in the place never really kept up and we had to close all of the curtains/blinds to keep it dark and cooler. In the first floor room, I had to grab a blanket from the closet to hang over the glass doors to keep it dark and cooler. I then saw the blanket was filled with what looked like dog hair. Very filthy. I even had a random chair in my bathroom that was covered with dirt on the material. Also, two toilets in the house constantly were running the whole week, even after Dunes sent someone out to repair them. The windows facing the beach upstairs would have offered a great view if they weren't also filthy, making it very hard to see the view of the ocean. Not only were things dirty, they were also broken. The recliner in the living room had a foot rest that was unattached and had a sharp, dangerous screw sticking up where your feet would go. The drawers in the kitchen were not attached so when you slide them out, they would come out at an angle and fall out if you weren't careful. Outside, next to the driveway, was wood that was broken next to an unfinished flower bed. Coming out of the ground was exposed rebar steel that we almost ran over once since it was so close to the driveway when you turn in. Unfortunately for the towel service on Friday, their truck did run over it and they got a flat tire that took a couple of hours to change. Very dangerous. We had a very good experience with Dunes in the past. Last year we all stayed in one of their beach houses and, having really enjoyed that property, rented the same one for this summer. However, a couple months before our vacation, the house that we booked was sold. We were offered another property by Dunes Realty and were told it was comparable to the original property "or better". Having a good experience before, we unfortunately took their word for it. This "Breeze Way" property was not fit for renting. It reminded me of a house that an old relative owns and lets you use for free since you're family. You know everything is dirty and broken but you stay there anyway since it won't cost you anything. Unfortunately, this property costs $2,600 for the week. I can tell that the owners probably take 100% profit and never invest anything back into the property. My parents called up Dunes upon arrival and said that the place was dirty and broken. Dunes said they would look for an alternative for us but nothing else was available. They then said that they would give us a discount on what we paid but when they finally got back to us at the end of the week, they only knocked off $400. $57 off a night is an insult for such a dirty, broken place. This was my parents big trip for the year that they had been saving for. It is a shame that a dirty, broken beach house had to damper a fun beach getaway. We don't mind paying a lot of money for a clean, updated beach house but when you're paying top dollar for a rental that shouldn't be on the market, it definitely leaves a bad taste in your mouth. We had hoped that Dunes Reality would have stood by their property, and not just offered $400 off for a place that looked nothing like the outdated pics they show on their website. This property was nothing like the great, clean house that we stayed at last year for the same price. read more

After we tentatively "secured" our rental for 2022 by giving the Dunes $100 back in August 2021 and receiving a bill for our rental commitment, two days later we received an email that our reservation was canceled. When I called to better understand the situation I was told there was no reason given why we were dropped like a hot potato and "I had to understand" that the home owners have the right of first refusal. After a few clicks on their computer we were giving an option of another home that was far less desirable. When I contested I was told that I could speak to the GM, Ryan S. When I connected with Ryan he proceeded to tell me that the new owners of the property we wanted to rent decided to take back the week that we tentatively booked, along with another week and there was nothing we could do about it. He cited many SC laws and Dunes contract language that gave me no recourse. After much back and forth he offered to call the home owner on my behalf to see if we could get our week back. I declined the offer because after the lack luster start with my first call we began working with a competitive realtor who quickly provided us several options and we landed a lovely home for the week we needed. Dunes Realty let us down. These are unprecedented times and we are all faced with many business challenges; but, as I do in my business, it is time for creative, proactive solutions. You can't inflame your clients and then try to appease them with a solution that should have been tested from the start. I can't argue with the laws that govern rental properties and home owners but the Dunes really should have been proactive in their management of my issue along with the other families that are impacted in the same manner. We will never rent with Dunes Realty again and I strongly suggest that you try another agency too. PS: I must say that Dunes Realty quickly refunded our money. read more

I have waited patiently for 24 hours for your company to rectify the ant problem in the house. I called at 9:00 AM yesterday to report the issue and was told that at some point somebody will be here. Nobody showed up. I then drove to your office at 5:00 PM to speak with a representative. She wouldn't even get up from her desk to look at the pictures of our problem. The communication skills of this company are absurdly terrible. After arriving at the checkout time and being told that our room was ready we arrived to find that it hadn't been cleaned at all. Housekeeping got there well after checkout and was here until 6pm. They told us we didn't pay for the dishrag package or to have our beds made but we did. After housekeeping left they sent the same two people to come back and make up for their mistake. We apologized to the two maids for their company abusing them. However, after spending two hours sitting out in the 100 degree weather and missing one of our only sunny beach days we have no kind words for this renting service and we will never be making the mistake of using them again. Edit in response to management: I appreciate your compensation and I let the housekeeping manager know that. However, the issue was handled very poorly and I had to be transferred twenty times and argued with for an hour to receive anything at all. The housekeeping team in our condo was nothing but nice and they worked very hard to clean as quickly as possible, we are nothing but grateful to them. However, they left after cleaning and came back after housekeeping closed to put the sheets on our beds like we had paid for but everyone forgot about. We still do not have our dish towel package but we have given up. Either way, I will not revoke my one star rating. I think it's well deserved. read more

The only thing that I can say positive about the condo was the location. The condo itself: I believe the owners have been negligent and irresponsible with their property. We experienced several roaches and immediately called the Dunes Realty office. We were told that they were Palmetto bugs. There is a huge difference between and a Palmetto bug and a roach. The kitchen was barely equipped, I actually had to borrow a frying pan from a neighbor. Every electrical outlet/switch would either shock or spark. The master bedroom also had "electrical" issues. I took a photo of the bedside lamp showing a burnt plug that I removed from the socket for fear of a fire while sleeping. The condition of the mattresses and bedding was repulsive. The pillows were stained and disgusting, the mattress cover was also stained and ripped in several places. The bed in the master bedroom was no more than springs in a broken down box. There was no sleeping on that mattresses because it was completely broken down, you could feel every spring. Everything should have been thrown out a long time ago.The master bathroom the tub was full of rust and mold. It was so backed up that you were standing in ankle deep water every time you showered. I will attach photos. The second smaller bathroom had a broken side-handle inside the shower covered in mold. It actually fell out of the wall when someone tried to hold on to it almost causing a fall. Again, electrical problems. Every time you turned off / on the light switch you got a little spark/shock. The living room blinds fell apart. Three of the slats fell off when I tried to close them. Needless to say because of the missing slats it felt like we had an audience every night because we could look directly out to the people swimming in the pool. We could not close the binds for fear of them completely breaking. When I contacted Ryan Swaim at Dunes Realty with my concerns this was his response: "As far as the condition of the unit itself, that is something at which I will take a look on Saturday. 2017 is the first year that 101B has been on our rental program, but I must say that the response so far has been a positive one. Your stay was the 10th consecutive week (and 14th overall) that it had been rented this season, and while we have received a few comments from guests on things that could be improved, the vast majority passed along their enjoyment. (** THE VAST MAJORITY PASSED ALONG THEIR ENJOYMENT - what ?) Our inspector did mention the living room blinds following your departure, and we had them fixed that afternoon; I will also take a much closer look at the bedding and the other items you mentioned this weekend and we will correct all that we can." Basically, I was told not only did no one else complain, but they actually enjoyed it. I took photos of everything I mentioned in the above, so you decide. read more

My family and I have stayed in Myrtle Beach and rented houses for the last 20 years. This year we rented a house called Rainbow Watch. The home is ran down, old, and has mildew, unsafe, and should not be offered to the public for rent. The pictures online are misleading and does not reflect reality. I have reported to the BBB as well. We wasted an entire day battling to find something for our family to stay in after driving over 10 hours. There was no regard from the owners son on whether we stayed anywhere or not. I rate this company a zero and do not recommend them to anyone. They have lost a faithful customer as I will never use their services again. read more

A warning for people thinking about booking with Dunes. We've never had any real problems renting from them in the past. A few housekeeping issues or bug problems that were resolved within 24 hours. We book year after year leaving a deposit as we check out. Always happy to return to the same home as a family. Until this year. Shame on us for not reading the rental agreement. Being from NJ and traveling to MB with my 75 year old parents is a big risk. After checking w/ our family Dr they were told it was much too big of a chance to take. Shortly after getting that news our governor has made it so when you return from South Carolina you must quarantine for 2 weeks upon return. Which also means the family members that work would not be able to return to work for 2 weeks after our trip. When I called Dunes I spoke with Linda who informed me very rudely that there was no way our state could enforce those rules (the state might not, but my employer will) I asked if we could put our money toward the same house for the same week next year. Nope, not their policy or their problem. Asked if I could put our money toward another week this year. Nope, not their policy and not their problem. They will return half of our $3200 rental. What happens to the other 1600? They will return $800 if the property is re-rented for the week that we are canceling for. While I understand this is a challenging time I would have thought that there would have been a little more understanding and a updated policy when it came to this ever changing coronavirus situation and the safety of your guests. But I guess it just comes down to the almighty dollar. read more

Regardless of the challenge they faced on our behalf, they were quick, responsive, and MOST GRATIFYING was that they sincerely CARED about our satisfaction. The personality of the business often generates from the TOP. That individual at DUNES would be Mr. Ryan Swaim, Manager. He bends over backward to ensure satisfied renters. It perplexes me that I've noticed a few unhappy reviews here, lamenting about a dirty property, or a housekeeping scheduling difficulty, or perhaps something at a property being in a state of disrepair, or outdated, etc. I believe this may have happened. NOBODY is perfect!! AND the business is at the mercy of the property OWNERS. All DUNES can do is RECOMMEND an action. I believe the true measure of any person OR business is not whether or not they've had difficulties. No business can honestly say they've never faced a problem. It's their response to the issues raised that matters most. I truly believe that if these renters had contacted the management at DUNES, and explained their scenario, I'm fairly certain that any issues would have been resolved immediately and satisfactorily within the empowerment and abilities of the DUNES management. I wouldn't hesitate for a SECOND, recommending DUNES to anyone looking. I've had nothing but EXCEPTIONAL dealings with them. read more

We have been in our rental for four nights. three days ago my niece presented what looked like big bites. We chalked it up to something in the sand. She got more and more and then last evening we came home to find fleas in all the beds. we have spent almost a whole day going back and forth with the realty office to get this resolved. No one will call us back. We just keep being told maintenance is coming. We have cleaned and sanitized all of our belongings and no longer feel comfortable in the house. We can't seem to get resolution at all. I suppose we will need to take more serious measures for someone to be responsive. Don't use Dunes. The booking process and rates are less expensive for a reason. read more

perfect stay at One Ocean Place Rm 1210 Garden City, SC booked thru Dunes Realty during June 18-25, 2022. Easy check-in and out for the keys and parking garage pass card. Reservation was easily placed to credit card and didnot require a personal check. Opted to bring all our own linen and towels to save some money since we were driving there. The room was ready an hour early and was very clean. The condo was furnished beachy and designer-like. Panoramic windows and 6 chairs on a very spacious balcony. can see sunrise and sunset. 3 married couples in a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom with enough balcony and chairs to accommodate everyone.....this is hard to find! We had no maintenance issues and the air-condition was cold and all appliances worked perfectly. elevator was the fastest I have ever seen and we were on the 12th floor. Also there was no difficulty getting a luggage cart. The parking garage had just enough space for the building but no extra. We had 2 spaces for the 3 bedroom. I would stay again. Dunes Realty has up to date photos of this condo and it was as beautiful as the photos. I wish One Ocean Place would heat the pool though, however I am always a little cold anyway, but it was useable and not crowded. the pool was warmer in June this time time compared to when we stayed in September when the water was too cold to use the pool. I have already booked a house rental thru Dunes Realty for the end of this summer. The 2 things I would suggest is that the current years weekly pricing for the entire year remains visible so that shopping for the following years vacation could be easier. I realize pricing changes for next year but I dont see the harm in being transparent on the current years pricing to see if a potential property can be financially on the short list for possible next year vacations. Secondly a layout drawing of the house or condo is needed for every property. From trying to count how many ocean front bedrooms, to visualizing the size of beds in each room and to knowing if there is an en-suite bathroom. Usually the family splits the cost and of course these things matter. From a family without kids, we cant stand bunkbeds!! because its a lost bedroom that nobody wants. read more

This review is for Garden City Dunes which is not associated with the other Dunes Realty Locations in the area (according to a response I have from Ryan Swaim who is on record responding to my past review which has been erased; yet, nothing on the Internet is ever really erased, and I have copies anyway). I would give 5 stars for Gairy Nichols though. For the deception, I give 1 star. I am giving 1 star due to the confusion of Ryan saying they are not associated with any other other Dunes Realty in the area; yet, his business partner Gairy worked with me after a problem with another location. Gairy Nichols with Garden City Dunes had all my information I requested and he gave it to me. If this Ryan Swaim says they are the wrong company as in not associated, then how did Gairy have my information? As I said, I would give Dunes Garden City 5 stars in a minute solely due to Gairy Nichols who is with them on the Garden City site. If you deal with Gairy, you'll be dealing with a gentleman who cares about people as I read his Father did when he started the company. I can remember Gairy in my home telling us about his Dad, and he seems to be so much like him. Again, the low rating is due to the response from Ryan Swaim on my last review; however maybe he has his reasons for not remembering my family was with another Dunes (wrong company he says) for 40 years, the manager Greg we liked who was married to one of the owners' sister, etc., so I hate to be critical. Gairy with Garden City Realty remembered it all, so it's confusing, or is it confusion really? When another Dunes (wrong company according to Ryan) dropped us after Daddy died and I told them I was devastated and could not get the house ready that year all alone with no help even, Gairy Nichols with Garden City Dunes was a true gentleman. He later came to my house and visited, called, and he even gave me a list of our repeat renters we had with Dunes 29585. I had never met him before; yet, when I repeatedly called Ryan and Gairy pleading for help, Gairy was the only response I ever got, and honestly, even though I was upset, I have to admit that he was always cordial. For Gairy Nichols, I would give Garden City Dunes 5 stars as an honest and ethical gentleman they are fortunate to have there. read more

Been renting from Dunes for years and I absolutely love them however the house this year is a complete flop. We stayed in Meva, off of Pompano drive. It's an older home but that aspect doesn't bother me at all. What bothered me were the stained carpets that looked like a dog had used it as a bathroom waste pad, the kitchen that was poorly equipped and the tile flooring that would turn your feet black. The house sits on a cove with huge windows facing the water with no blinds or curtains so as far as walking around in the evening in personal clothing...out of the question. The house does come with a washer and dryer but it's in a small room in the carport with exposed insulation. A room that looks like it's from the set of a horror film rather than a beach house. I understand that water bugs happen, I'm from South Carolina, but when my aunt went to put our sheets on the bed, she found a dead one in the bed which suggests the cleaning crew didn't clean thoroughly. Another thing I found odd, no wifi. No wifi isn't the end of the world but it's extremely annoying. We did call Dunes and express our concerns and they were very, very nice but they should either fix this house up or take it off their list of rentals. read more

This review is for Surfwatch unit 205. WiFi didn't work, toilet didn't flush right (had to keep the top of tank off and flush from the inside). Mattress pad had blood on it (we had paid extra for clean sheets, you would think they would give us a clean mattress pad if there was blood on it). Tub didn't drain very well, roaches started appearing half way through our stay (in all rooms). Complained about the toilet but I didn't want to deal with a repair man while on vacation. Mentioned the roaches while letting them know about toilet, so they sent a sprayer out without asking. My husband barely made it to the door and the guy had his key in the lock, about to walk right in on us! Location was great, weather was great, check in was smooth. This could be a really cute condo, it just lacked maintenance and cleanliness for the price we paid. read more

We have visited The Myrtle Beach area about every other year for the past 12 years. We have always used Dunes Realty. Every part of our stays has been pleasant, from reservation to checkout. Very associate I've dealt with has gone above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. We've gone in on houses with various relatives, so we've needed cribs, high chairs for toddlers, a scooter for my father, etc. They've handled these items for us and they were delivered to the homes before our arrival. We had locked ourselves out once and a young man from the agency came immediately to our rescue. The accommodations are always clean, well appointed and as described in the literature and the website. At the suggestion of one of the reps, we had placed a grocery order with Lowe's. They were able to have the food delivered and the perishables put away before we even got there. I wouldn't go through any other agency. read more

We arrived to our vacation rental at 12:00pm. We were told we would be able to get into our condo after 8:30am. We have waited until 2:37pm (and counting) and have been told our condo has still not been cleaned yet. Please consider a different company for your vacation rental needs. read more

620 South Dogwood Drive Garden City Beach, SC-We will not stay here again and I'm really not sure we will rent from dunes again. The only reason I'm even giving this place a 1 star rating is because the location was not bad. We were told that they have a very strict check in time of 4:00 pm to give house keeping time to clean the place. When we were finally able to check into the house it was absolutely disgusting, like it had never been cleaned at all. There was very visible sand, dust and dog hair everywhere throughout the house. The blankets on the beds had some sort of food or poop stains all over them. Housekeeping had to actually come pick up all the blankets so they could take them to be cleaned. They also came by to clean the house while we were there because it was so nasty we called to complain. It was very inconvenient when housekeeping stopped by to clean because my mother had to actually stay at the house while they were cleaning so she completely miss out on a full day at the beach. The floor in the dining/kitchen area felt like it was going to fall in when you stepped on it and the flooring was coming up in that area like there had been really bad water damage to the floor. The room with the two queen size beds downstairs has a window unit and would never get cool so my brother and girlfriend had to buy an air mattress to sleep upstairs in the living room. That room was also infested with flies and had some sort of animal droppings in the closet. Some of the showers only ran at a trickle. I felt like I could never wash the soap completely out of my hair. The front downstairs top bunk bed mattress had huge yellow urine stain marks on the cover like they too were never cleaned or changed. This was such a disappointment. I am normally not one to complain but this was totally unacceptable. Vacationing is not cheap and I think renters should know what they will be getting themselves into if they rent this place. read more

My family booked with Dunes Realty to stay at Summer Winds for a long weekend a few weeks ago. We got in late Friday evening and noticed everything was very dirty. There was sand on the floor, hair in the bathtubs and it looked like it hadn't been dusted in months. Several lamps were missing all light bulbs and the remotes in the smaller bedrooms had no batteries in them! Since it was late, we decided to call the office the next day. My mom called and talked to someone in the office the next morning and they said they would send housekeeping back out. A maintenance guy came and put bulbs and batteries in but housekeeping never showed. She called the office again the following day to let them know that no one had showed up, but there was no point because we were leaving the next day. Someone was supposed to call us back about getting a refund for the housekeeping fees my mom paid. Guess what? No one ever called or refunded anything. This will be the last time we use Dunes. I know everyone is stretched thin due to covid but no one even made an effort to correct this. read more

Me and my friends and family have stayed in the same house seventh heaven several times we put our down payment on the house and low and behold COVID 19 couldn't go and we were told sorry about your bad luck and you can't use the down payment for another time so much for customer loyalty read more

I cannot recommend utilizing Dunes. They were: 1) Non-responsive to emails, calls and texts during our stay. Attempted to contact our property manager, Michelle Gatlin, never responded. We only received an acknowledgement after checking out. Their on-property support was non-existent. 2) Issues with the house were unresolved 3) Numerous pieces of kitchen equipment did not work. Toaster, Freezer. 8 lights out. 4) Communications were inaccurate - (i.e., told us, do not use towels in house for beach, but once at beach, due to COVID, no towels available, there WERE towels just for the beach at the house. 5) No information was available regarding activities going on in Watercolor, recommendations for dining, or activities. This is a basic in almost all VRBO rental homes, or quality Rental Management Companies. DUNE is NOT a quality rental management company. 6) BIGGEST ISSUE - they scammed us. We originally booked a home (for nearly $7,000, and of course we arranged for travel for our entire family (non-refundable, another $4k). A FEW WEEKS before our scheduled rental, we received an email telling us, the house we had rented, WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE. The owner had sold the house, and the new owner was not honoring any rental agreements. Dune offered us alternative options, all significantly inferior to the home we had specifically chosen. (or refund JUST the rental, leaving us stuck with travel costs for 12 people, each having arranged vacation time off.) We unfortunately accepted an alternative home, and due to the setup, some family members decided not to join us. (not child friendly home, and it wasn't!) While we were in Watercolor, we met the new owner of our original rental. He informed us that he and the former owner, had informed DUNE many weeks before they notified us. DUNE chose to not let us know, so we couldn't find an acceptable alternative property (or use another company), we would be stuck with their inventory. We find this unethical, and encourage anyone to NOT USE DUNE RENTALS. We have previously utilized 360Blue, who did an outstanding job, but did not have the specific property we wanted to rent. With the extremely late notice of unavailability, there was minimal premium rentals available from 360Blue, or other agencies, but 360Blue shared there were a number available 3 weeks prior. We just find DUNE uncaring, irresponsible, and unethical, and encourage you to look elsewhere for Rental management and properties. read more

We work hard all year to have a nice vacation. They really don't care. They get a 0 from us. We will never use them again. No stars read more

Kyle Hawley..Excellent all around! Moving here from New York, we needed to sell our vacation condo in Surfside Beach and purchase our new Townhouse in Murrells Inlet. Through-out the entire process Kyle worked tirelessly. Feels like you are working with a friend. Extremely trustworthy and professional. Could not have asked for a better person to work with. Kyle asked us all of our needs and wants and made suggestions. The first place we went to contract on did not have a marketable title, but Kyle assisted aggressively to try and rectify the situation. It could not be fixed, but we found a different place within 2 days! And closed immediately. Kyle sold our condo to the first person who looked at it. And of course, we had problems on our end when we purchased the condo 14 years ago. Kyle came through again and made it happen! COULD NOT BE HAPPIER! Thanks Kyle!!!! read more
