She loves the classes, but does not like the dress code and can't wait for high school. Her favorite teacher is her AVID teacher this year, Mr Magna. Without that program I do not know if she would be at the level she is. She was on the honor roll three of the four quarters this year. I would recommend this school to anyone that asks about it. You have to apply to get in and it is suggested you try to get in the 5th grade year and spend all four years at the school. I am so happy we got to be part of the Baird family these past four years and wish the best to all.

There are a few trees sprinkled around the sports areas and they were big enough to catch some shade! Yay! There's a nice, big oak right in the middle of the various soccer fields. Nice. On the west edge of the campus there were about 20 redwoods that provided shade, as well. The restrooms by the library were open on a Saturday while teams were playing. There were a few bleachers, but not facing the soccer field, so parents and grandparents will want to bring chairs and perhaps umbrellas.

The staff and volunteers are friendly, and you can tell they care about the students. I have always felt welcome on campus, yet (justifiably) under the watchful eye of the administration. And I consider taking ardent safety seriously a huge plus. The campus is beautiful and clean. I wish there were more trees for shade (this coming from a day that was 108 degrees). You're required to ask just to use the bathroom, which feels unnecessary since it should be basic. You only get 5 minutes per pass and 3 passes a day, which is extremely limiting. Even being late a couple of times in a whole semester can get you detention, which feels over the top. A lot of the staff come off as disrespectful, and the overall environment feels negative and strict rather than supportive. The social atmosphere isn't great either, with a lot of students being judgmental and insincere, which makes it hard to feel comfortable. Overall, it feels like the school is more focused on enforcing rules, grades, and achievements than actually supporting students or creating a healthy learning environment. If someone has the option, going somewhere else would probably be a better experience.
