Ticket holders were given fifteen coupons to sample the boozy craft cocktails before casting their ballot for their favorite mixologist. The bartenders shared the backgrounds, ingredients, and their inspirations for their fabulous creations. Food, water, and soft drinks where also provided. The cocktails where truly unique. The event was so much fun! Discounted rides where provided by Lyft. Our only criticism was the acoustics made it difficult to understand the speakers on stage. We missed the opportunity to vote. Also, some bartenders did not have any assistance and their lines where longer than others. We moved at a nice pace during the evening but we also ran out of time to try all of the cocktails. We appreciated the opportunity to have a safe and responsible evening with transportation provided by Lyft. Members of the High Museum could purchase a discounted ticket. It was a very fun evening!!! Festival of Chariots or Rathayatra is a celebration of Hindu and Indian culture featuring exciting live entertainment, singing, dancing, parades, and more. The Rathayatra festival originated in the ancient city of Jagannatha Puri in India 5000 years ago to celebrate the Hindu Lord of the Universe. In addition to the parades and other festivities, the festival features a vegetarian feast highlighting Indian cuisine, music, a dramatic presentation, art vendors, a magic show, face painting, henna tattoos, and much more. This cultural event is fun for the whole family and it is FREE. The Festival celebrates Lord Krishna's return to Vrindaban and is held annually in the months of June-July to honor Lord Jagannatha, which means Lord of the Universe. Lord Jagannatha is a particular Deity form of Lord Krishna, fashioned from neem wood and brightly painted. The residents of Puri have been worshipping this form for many centuries. Five hundred years ago, Lord Chaitanya, the most merciful incarnation of Lord Krishna used to daily visit Lord Jagannatha in the temple and see Him in a mood of intense separation, much like Srimati Radharani who was parted from her beloved Krishna most of her days. For the festivities; there are three chariots, one for each of the three deities; Lord Jagannatha, Lord Balarama and Lady Subhadra. The canopied chariots are decorated with flowers and balloons and are pulled with long, thick ropes by hundreds of people. The chariots are accompanied by a procession of devotees who are ecstatically dancing and chanting the Lord's Holy Names: Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. This Maha-Mantra or great chant is found in the Puranas and Upanishads and is specifically recommended in this age of Kali as the means of God realization. Lord Chaitanya personally designated it as the Maha-Mantra and practically demonstrated the effects of the chanting. The first time the Festival of Chariots was performed outside of India was on July 9, 1967 in San Francisco, under the supervision of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (1896-1977). Srila Prabhupada, as he is more affectionately known, is the Founder-Acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) and is the tenth generation from Lord Chaitanya. Srila Prabhupada lead the Hare Krishna Movement, guiding his disciples to open temples and perform festivals all over the world.

No worries, if it bothered you, you can always move a seat back by the main tent which is what we started. People followed, unfortunately. I don't mind, but please if your going to sit next to me. Don't sit or stand right on top of me, and please don't proceed to have a loud conversation I my ear. That was the only downfall of an amazing time. Drinks were plentiful. Most were sample size, but you can go back for seconds, thirds, twentieths, whatever. I got to sample some top notch local brews and some favorites of mine. Food was unreal. The brisket soft shell tacos were godly. JD's chicken and ribs were fantastic. So much food. I'm still feeling the weight repercussions two weeks later. I don't know how this event will stay this cheap or that under the radar, and I'm ashamed for bringing it to light, but it honestly was an unbelievable time and deserves every positive thing said about it.

I also loved how this area was set -up very close to one of the music stages. We had a lot of fun and I hope this is available for the Dogwood festival next year!

It's also conveniently right off the crosswalk from the Inman Park MARTA station - don't bother looking for parking as there is very little. You can also walk to the festival using the Beltline. Make sure to bring plenty of filtered water or stick with beer. This is a must-attend show.

Since the 1970's, The Inman Park Festival is something of an Atlanta tradition. There's a tour of homes, a 5k run, a parade, and (of course) a big street market featuring all sorts of colorful, local arts and crafts, beauty & skin care, foods and spices, home accessories, woodworking and ceramics... This year, I picked up a few items to gift to my friends. There are hosts of things to try and do, including activities for kids, and a really cool Dance Festival where you'll see stellar dance expositions from Atlanta's best dance companies. The food scene is pretty much what you'd expect. All the standard offerings from frozen lemonade to corn dogs, funnel cakes to pretzels, all the "regulars" are there. Sometimes I wonder if there will ever be a way to make the street-fair food scene innovative and not just regular. Still, this is among Atlanta's best run, and well-organized Festivals. There was also live music and activities for kids. Historic Fourth Ward is a great venue for a festival- the park is lovely and you can take a walk on the BeltLine when you're done. It's one of the oldest private social clubs in the south. Truly five star, triple platinum service and amenities. I enjoyed my parents 45th anniversary dinner on the front porch a couple of weeks ago. The food was.. as always.. excellent. We were served the clubs signature buttery toasted crackers, some fresh oatmeal rolls with an assortment of butters and olive tapenade. I had the grilled octopus appetizer which was so tender and delicious. It was nicely marinated and grilled to absolute perfection with a complex balsamic vinegar glaze, and served over micro greens. I ordered the 16oz dry aged ribeye with a side of the most amazing truffle mashed potatoes I've ever had. They certainly don't skimp on the highest quality ingredients that can be obtained! The kitchen sent us an assortment of 4 or 5 sweet delights for dessert to share. We also enjoyed the live entertainment that was provided outside. So very pleasant. It was a fantastic evening as always. I look forward to returning very soon!

The downtown Atlanta Capital City Club which is the one I visited was designed by Beaux-Arts-trained architect Donn Barber in the Georgian style that characterizes prestigious New York City clubs such as the Colony Club. I came as a guest but you must be a member or escorted by a member to access this location, I have heard of weddings being held here as well. Very nice accommodations and a well stocked bar. The food was very nice as well. I could definitely see the enjoyment of being a member here, there is a very strict dress code as well. Gentlemen may not wear hats of any kind, shorts, jeans, open-toed shoes or shirts without collars. But once you're past all that, all drinks are on the house and you can have a really good time here!
