I can't say enough good things about this church. I love it so much. Our small family (husband…read moreand our toddler) moved to Dumfries two years ago from Alexandria. We loved the church we attended there. And I didn't think it could get any better. But, it has! This church is so welcoming, so warm and loving, and Pastor Connie is clearly called to the ministry she's in and so so good at it! I love the contemporary worship songs (songs I know from the radio), the intimate congregation size, Pastor Connie's loving, but challenging messages that are always relevant to my life, and the fellowship time after church with snacks. Such a giving, loving, accepting group of people. You'll be blessed to attend here. Oh, and childcare provided by loving teens, plus children's church and a great vacation bible school program that just ended. And lots of ways to get involved, from community service, to bible studies, to meet up groups. This church takes a holistic approach to godliness and service to its members and to the community.

Our church has been a wonderful place to grow in faith and community. The fellowship is genuine,…read moreand there is a strong sense of belonging from the moment you walk through the doors. The teaching is biblical, practical, and applicable to everyday life, helping people grow in their relationship with Christ. The leadership models servant-hearted ministry, and it is evident that they care deeply for the congregation. One thing that has especially stood out is the involvement of the pastor's wives in women's events and ministries. Their participation creates a welcoming, family-like atmosphere that feels like home. The church is also prayerful, transparent, and open about financial stewardship, which builds trust and confidence in the leadership. We are grateful to be part of a church family that values biblical truth, authentic relationships, and faithful service.

Amazingly, nobody has posted a Yelp review yet. Time to fix that…read more Knollwood has proven to be an excellent church, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new church, is considering seeing "what else" is out there, or is merely visiting the area and wants to worship on a Sunday morning. Dress is casual. You can certainly wear a suit if you want, but the average worshipper here ranges from khakis and a polo to jeans and a t-shirt. In my case, if the weather permits, I'm in shorts and a t-shirt. No matter how you dress, you won't be made to feel out of place, as there's likely someone who is dressed the same. The music is contemporary in nature, and there are no hymnals present. That's not to say that hymns aren't ever sung, but the service definitely is representative of a more modern service. Strong diversity of ages represented, especially since it's a contemporary service. Grandparents on down to kids are in attendance. There's also been a big influx as of recent of families with young children. Different ethnic groups are also well represented given the makeup of the area, which is also nice as so many other churches out there seem so segregated when it comes to Sunday mornings. Military families should feel pretty welcome here. There's a number of active and former service members here. The church isn't affiliated with a particular denomination, and members seem to come from a variety of different church backgrounds. If I had to put a label on it, I would say that it's an evangelical church. To try to draw more parallels doesn't really do Knollwood justice - my advice is to just give it a shot. Everyone involved in the worship service does an excellent job. What I particularly like is the Q&A session at the end of the service. We live in an interactive day and age, and having a church that is interactive is a great thing. In terms of what is taught here, you're not going to find anything wacky -- the message is always grounded in the Bible, delivered in an engaging manner, and with an eye toward helping make it relevant for your daily life. Bottom line, this is an excellent church. Hopefully I've provided enough detail for people to decide if Knollwood is right for a visit, but I'm more than happy to provide more views if there are specifics that I haven't covered.

I would give this church one star if I could. My brother passed away unexpectedly, and I was told…read morethat the church had space available for a memorial. I called the church, and was directed to a website to fill out a form. Two weeks went by, and I did not receive a reply. I filled out the form again -- no reply. Finally, I called the church yet again, and after 30 minutes of fumbling, the contact told me that the form wasn't working properly. The contact then told me that the priest would call me to discuss. Then next morning, I received a message and an email. The email read, "to be clear, your event will not be held at St. Andrews until speaking to me. At this time, we are hitting pause before moving forward with your request. Give me a call as soon as possible". The call was even worse. Alyse Viggiano, the priest, was the rudest person I have ever spoken to. She quizzed me on my late brother and his "participation" in the community, and pointedly asked if I had spoken to Wendy at the Arlington Neighborhood Village Association about this. She implied that non-Episcopalians would not be welcome, even though I made it clear that I had no objection to her religious strictures. Finally, I had had enough. As a black man, I have some experience with these kinds of transactions, and I knew that we would not be welcomed there. Please, do not go this church for succor and comfort after the death of a loved one, especially of you are African-American.

They have fun events throughout the year that parents and younger siblings can attend which are very cute. The morning Kiss and Ride drop off is also very helpful with a 2 year old in tow. The teachers meet the students at the car line and walk them inside so you only have to walk in with your youngest ones at pick up. I will be sending my youngest child here too! We've never attended this church, which is located at Colin Powell Elementary School. This review…read moreis for their Easter Helicopter Egg Drop, located at the NOVA Manassas campus. We've attended their Easter Helicopter Egg Drop for the third year, this year. It's an overcrowded event held on the NOVA Manassas campus. There are too many children racing and parents getting in the way of kids getting to the Easter eggs. They have lots of volunteers and people directing traffic. But, the crowd control with the kids was out of hand this Easter and my child got lost in the mad rush for the eggs. They make the kids wait sooo long until they can run across the field. Check in begins at 10 am (which is quick and painless). The drop is supposed to start at 11 am. The helicopter doesn't appear until much later and then has to make many passes over the field. The kids rushed the field too soon after waiting so long and my child was separated from us. There isn't a plan in place for situations like this. We were next to another child that was separated from his family. He was older than our 4-year old and he was less anxious. Eventually we found our child (because of yelling her name and it might have been mentioned over the bullhorn (that you can't understand when spoken through)). The other kid was taken by a police man up and down the crowd to look for his family. After three years of long waits and now the lack of procedure, this will be our last egg drop. And it was so cool - to watch this helicopter drop the eggs. It must cost the church a fortune.

Without any conversation, investigation, or opportunity for dialogue, I was treated as though serious allegations against me were true -- even though no one from the church leadership ever approached me to discuss them. Instead of pastoral support or a fair process, I encountered widespread ostracism: people turned their backs, avoided speaking to me, and made hurtful comments. At no point did anyone reach out to ask for my side of the story or try to resolve the situation in a biblical, compassionate way. What troubles me most is that a church should be a place of grace, accountability, and truth -- but here, serious accusations were accepted and acted on without due diligence. In my view, this demonstrates a lack of transparency, fairness, and proper pastoral care. I share this not out of anger but in the hope that Choice Baptist Church will reflect deeply on how it handles conflict and accusations in the future. Until I see meaningful changes toward accountability and reconciliation, I cannot recommend this church as a safe or welcoming spiritual community.
