Super shop on a side street. It isn't hard to guess what Duly Noted Stationary is all about, but after a quality browse, I was fully impressed with this shop's spectrum of writing related equipment Cards for all occasions and all ages, writing pads, tissue and wrapping paper means Frame-It considers the bigger picture in its realm of services. Everything is tasteful and unique-- making you think you really do need that cute magnetic writing pad. Lots of gift giving potential and luxury tools if you're a note taker. A glass-encased selection of ball-point pens ooze elegance, but at a price. Be prepared to spend $75-200 for one sweet ass pen. Worth it? I haven't done my research, but I'll stick to my Papermates for now. Overall, great store that will make you want to spend. Pretty things for those who love to write, record, list and gift. Discrete by location, but vibrant in offerings.

What a treat! One of the things I miss about not living in Toronto are stationary stores like this one. So glad I stumbled in! I love the vibrant colors of wrapping paper on racks, the scores of unique cards and...a guilty pleasure - moleskin notebooks. I used to make fun of my husband for holding them in such high esteem - it's said that Hemingway wrote all his ideas in his moleskin journals. My favorite are the small, brightly coloured versions that can fit into my purse...perfect for jotting down inspirations. But I digress, the point is, Duly Noted has a huge selection. If you're in need of invitations, this seems to be the place to visit. And the staff will be more than pleased to help out. While I was there, a couple were choosing their wedding invitations and it was hard to tell who was more excited about the choices. Not looking for paper...there are lots of cute little stationary related gifts as well.

Duly Noted has quickly become my favourite stationary place in the city. It's so cute and has some of the best local cards and prints! I also love to go in oggle the impressive array of pens and local goodies (candles, mugs and soap.) They have some gorgeous wrapping paper from prestige brands like Rifle Paper Co. (one of my favourites) and they do custom wedding invitations too. I haven't used that part of their services, but I love going in and browsing. Everyone who works there is super friendly and knowledgable!

Deserres has everything from scrapbooking items to a rather large framing center. They've got a diverse selection of paints and colours, as well as a lot of different canvases to work with, in all shapes and sizes. There's even a kids section with fun projects for children of all ages. What I really liked about Deserres is that it's nicely mapped out. There are large signs above head indicating what is in each section. Everything from the fine arts to graphic arts is conveniently labelled so you know exactly where to go. I had a couple of questions about products and the nice salesman was very eager to help. He told me everything a I needed to know and even gave me other options to choose from. I was very grateful for his help. I really enjoyed just browsing through this store at all that they have, even if I wasn't interested in buying most of it. I thoroughly enjoyed how organized they were. It made it easy to be in there.

Whether you're a professional or simply a crafty weekender, Deserres caters to every level of artiste. They truly have something for everyone! I was impressed to pop in last Saturday and find pink pipe cleaners. (A naturally integral component of my Halloween costume) Deserres also carries those stick on wall designs that you've probably started noticing. These are super funky and a nice alternative to sponge painting your bedroom, etc. They also come in a chalk board variety so your grocery list can be a tad more noticeable 2'x3' tacked to your wall. Definitely recommend trying this art store out! Lots of great gift wrapping paraphernalia too!

Or as my husband would say "it a place for hippies." They had lots of cool sterling silver jewelry from Thailand. The prices were quite reasonable too. They had lots of earrings and bracelets in the $10-$25 range. I really didn't look at much else in the store, but they had beads, wooden knick knacks, pillows, and clothing that looked like they were from Nepal, Indonesia and Thailand, among other things. I loved these kinds of stores in my middle school and high school years, but it's not quite my aesthetics anymore, with the exception of the jewelery, because I still love sterling silver, it's the most suitable metal for my colouring. I had a great time browsing their large jewelery section. I almost bought the cutest bracelet, but it was a tad too big for me :( Staff were very nice. I always stop by when I'm in Halifax to poke around a bit, and be reminded of my style as a teenager, lol.

As I type this review I see on Taz.com that there is currently one copy of that exact record in Halifax and one in Bedford. Not sure why Taz refused my $45 when I was happy to wait for the album to arrive in store. My next experience with Taz was very similar. I pre-ordered another record on Taz.com and when release day arrived I anxiously awaited a phone call or email. I heard nothing, so I checked online to see if I had misremembered the release date. There were 9 copies on the shelves waiting to be bought. I called the store and asked if my order was ready, the employee was completely baffled. While the staff did the right thing and (I assume) took a copy off the shelf for me, this is a pretty major oversight. I had received my confirmation email before I hung up the phone. Staff at the Halifax location are truly some of the most miserable people I have had the misfortune of doing business with. I have no desire to return, although I have had fantastic experiences with Sunrise Records in Dartmouth so I will continue to build my 400-500 strong record collection. Taz records is the enshittification of vinyl and media shopping incarnate. Record stores are going the way of Blockbuster and HMV and it is because of poor management and misguided ownership, only interested in making a quick buck from a dying industry.

I wouldn't necessarily call myself a comic book fan but I love to look at the manga and figurines. I excitedly asked where I could find them and I bought five of them. I've loved the Archie books since I was a kid (before the terrible television show Riverdale came out). I thanked the store employee for being so helpful and he introduced me to their adorable dog who I now follow on Instagram. The dog's Instagram handle is @strangegromit. Please give this dog a follow. He's SO CUTE! While he isn't always at the store, if you go every day like I did while I was in Halifax, you're bound to run into him at some point.
