We got an amaretto sour fish bowl and it was made well and tasted great. The bar skewed older for sure, didn't seem like a place for 20-somethings, and we were even there on a Friday night. We ended up at Duffy's per a couple of recommendations last Saturday, and even though we planned to do a bit of bar-hopping, we got comfortable here pretty quick (it's hard to give up a table once you have one). I like it. I love it. I don't have anything but great things to say about this place. It was my college hang out and I have since moved back to the east coast. Still searching for anything comparable. I spent way too many hours in the back beer garden of this place. Huge fire pit, huge projector that's always on with sports or movies, back bar that is open on the weekends, tons of space and tables. Can you tell I like beer gardens? Every night has a new crowd/theme. Live music, live karaoke, dollar beer night!, comedy night...and fishbowls. (Fishbowls races are on every 21 year olds to-do list) Cool staff, young, friendly. Awesome happy hours, free pizza on fridays. After reading the other reviews about this place, apparently Nirvana played on their stage back in the day. That's pretty sweet. It's a cool place and they do shows sometimes but I've never been able to get drunk there. I don't go out much so I know I have a low tolerance for alcohol but every time I go here the drinks I order seem to be mostly mixers and no alcohol. One time two of my friends and I spent something like $70+ and when we left we realized none of us were drunk at all and we had several shots and shared a fish bowl. Also the girls bathroom is super gross, I know it's a college bar but the surfaces in there look like they haven't been wiped like ever. read more

Duffy's is my home away from home and it's true that they used to have the best jukebox in town. Now they've got one that can play about any song ever recorded and it really diminishes the vibe. BRING BACK THE OLD JUKEBOX!!! Or, get a new one and restrict what music can be played. Part of a good bar's identity is the music on the jukebox. Otherwise, Duffy's is the place to be downtown. They have pretty good drink specials, a pinball machine, and there are lots of tables out back for smokers. Oh and fishbowls, if you're into that. Comedy night can be painful. I'm pretty harsh on most places in Lincoln, but Duffy's is alright in my book. It's a laid-back bar most of the time, although at times it tilts heavily toward the alterna-scene crowd. The best thing about Duffy's, predictably, is that they serve fish bowls that are actually served in a fish bowl, and are delicious to boot. Awesome. Their downside is that I don't know exactly how strong they are, as it seems I do most of the heavy lifting whenever we get one and never quite feel like I'm getting drunk off of them. read more

This was home away from home way back when, but it was the end of Duffy's for me when new ownership took out the old jukebox. In the few times I've been there since, I've heard "High Enough" by Damn Yankees and "Raining Men." RAINING FRIGGIN MEN PLAYING IN DUFFY'S. A part of me died that day. The only bar I make a point to visit every time I travel to Nebraska. I don't think I visited a bar more frequently than Duffy's while in college. Best spot for chill college students, post grads, and bar vets alike. It's a bar, nothing fancy, nothing pretentious. Great beer garden out back and very reasonably priced drinks. Was NOT impressed, first "tavern" I've ever been to in Lincoln since I recently moved up here, some Co workers of mine suggested it because of the famous fish bowl, as I order my fish bowl, one they are huge but it tasted like a Shirley Temple it was mostly sprite the guy barely put enough vodka for me to even taste, and I ate before I went out their and I consider myself to be a pretty social drinker, it was awful, not to mention the giant Jenga, are you SERIOUS!!! yea as I sit and relax every 10 minutes you hear "BANG" No thank you, not to mention my stomach was so upset for all the syrup in the fish bowl, both my friends that went with were not impressed either, best bet is to stay away, or stay at home and drink. Known for their fish bowls and for their stage, Duffy's also has a pool table. Pretty small establishment, with some broken benches. In town for the Husker game and checked out a few bars downtown. Duffys by far was the best. $5 bud light pitchers and a great atmosphere with great music. When it comes down to it, Duffy's is Duffy's. You can expect cheap beer and even after an extensive remodel it is still a dive. Depending on what night of the week you go it can be a completely different bar. On Monday nights, they offer up some of the best Lincoln has to offer for amateur comedy night. I say the best rather tongue in cheek because most of the people that get up there aren't very funny. The crowd on those nights are usually pretty chill, it isn't loud, and the drink specials aren't that great. Tuesday on the other hand is a hipster paradise offering dad's beer night, dollar tallboys, or a combo four dollars for a tallboy and a shot of anything. Anything. Which can be dangerous. If you are looking to save some cash on a night out, Tuesday offers the most bang for your buck. That is if you don't mind rubbing shoulders with some of the hippest hipsters that ever hipped. Wednesdays and Sundays there is almost always live music that is loud and very in your face since the stage is one of the first things you see when you enter the bar. For a quick escape just jump outside and enjoy their spacious beer garden where the only noise is people conversing. As for the rest of the week, I don't really go there because it is full to the brim with the Frat boys and the Sorority sisters bangin' down some Fishbowls, a Duffy's staple. It is exactly as it sounds, a Fishbowl full of booze and teeming with straws. A word to the wise, if you order a fishbowl, you will probably be sneered at by the locals, because those that know don't drink fishbowls. read more
