It was explained that I would get it back when I returned the tap (no timeframe given). This is where it gets bad. We tapped the keg but didn't finish the beer in one night. So the next day I took the keg to a friend's house who had a kegerator. I took off the rental tap and left it in my car and planned to return it when the keg was kicked. No big deal. Wrong! A few days later, I received an exceptionally rude, threatening voicemail saying that if I didn't immediately return the tap that I rented, they were going to call the cops and charge me a whole bunch of extra money, etc,. The COPS? For a rental tap that they already charged me $55 for? I'm still wondering what law I'm breaking by holding onto the tap that I rented. Also, it's just a tap and you're a beer distributor - isn't this just part of the business? Aren't you supposed to have enough taps in stock that you don't have to threaten your customers? No one ever said the tap needed to be returned by a specific date. I had every intention of returning it promptly. I tried to call them back shortly after the voicemail was left and no one answered. My wife called the following day and the person that answered the phone was just as rude and confrontational as in the voicemail. I like beer. My friends like beer. I've gotten kegs and rented taps before. I've always returned them and have never had a problem. This is the first time I've ever encountered this kind of rude, uncalled for behavior from a distributor. Needless to say, I will never use Iron Run Beverage ever again.

He used to write a wine column in the local paper, and I don't know why it went away. This store is due for a redesign, so aesthetically, it is not awash in muted lighting and warm wall colors like the newer stores. But they pack a lot in a small space, and I have been pleased with the ever rotating selection of dry roses now that it is summer, many from France, the best region for these being Provence. If you like boxed wine, the biggest selection is here, and don't laugh, because some of it is perfectly drinkable. You will not believe how many candy-flavored vodkas are out there now; but this stuff must be selling, because there is almost a wall of it. There is large section of close-outs in the front, and I occasionally find something I like there, but that also means it is being discontinued in PA stores. This store is also where you will find the county's best selection of sparkling wines, though they seem to be either high end or very low, not much in the middle range. I heard the even-newer store design is a big kiosk in the middle and the look of a market, which sounds lovely. They sell useful wine totes that hold 6 bottles and are only a dollar, good for groceries and other shopping too. Very nice staff too, though there is one person who routinely calls women customers "sweetie" and "doll" (even after being asked NOT to by a number of women) which management should correct. It is condescending rather than polite.

Responses that most business owners leave range from 1) none at all 2) disputing the feedback, as ridiculous and stupid as this is, 3) giving lukewarm replies as if by obligation, not choice, 4) acknowledging the stated problems, but not seeking further communication by the reviewer on a private level in order to encourage that patron to return ... But the thing that encourages me to visit and spend my money versus going to the competition are responses like the one left by this co-owner. This is an individual who really cares about the business and understands that without its customers the business evaporates. Funny thing is, I never knew much about this business even though I passed it from time to time. Now, after reading the (smart) owner's response to customer feedback, I have good feelings about the place and will definitely visit...
