Not the look I wanted to maintain. I have been very hesitant to trust anyone with my hair care, as I have quite a few years into growing it long. When I called to ask if they had experience with Men's long hair, the woman on the phone said they were very experienced with Men's long hair. I made it very clear that I didn't want to lose any significant length on my hair, and that I was looking to have it tidied up, and lose the 'Hagrid' look. When I arrived, I was pleasant, but reiterated this, and insisted that only someone with considerable experience with men's long hair took care of me. I don't recall the guy's name they introduced me to, but he said he was experienced with Men's long hair, but didn't seem very convincing. This should have been my cue to leave immediately, but for some reason I followed him and sat down in his chair. We discussed what I was looking for, and I made it clear once again that I only wanted my hair tidied up (split ends removed, possibly thin the sides and back, but keep the length), and that I was in his hands, as they are supposed to be the experts on hair. He disappeared for a few minutes and brought back a book and showed me a picture of some guy with long dark hair, but I said that wasn't exactly what I was looking for. He proceeded to wash my hair, which I will say he did a good job at, and then combed it out to determine the length and inspect the ends I presume. He then started cutting the extreme lengths off, trying to get all the hair to the same length I am guessing. Once he started cutting, it's a bit too late. He ended up cutting about 4" off the length of my hair, and I was not impressed at all. He suggested several times that I should use various products (which I presume he was trying to sell me), and I made it very clear I wasn't interested in using or purchasing any products. I wasn't loud or obnoxious about it, but I did voice my dissatisfaction at the front when I was expected to pay. At this point, another stylist, Kirsten, started talking to me about what I was looking for, and asked me if I would follow her and we could talk at her station. I sat in her chair, and she was very goo dat listening t my concerns, and asked if she could try to get closer to what I was looking for. I felt I could trust her, so I let her go to work. She explained that my hair was very thick and wavy, but was also very healthy (little to no split ends, etc). She explained a technique she wanted to try on me called a technique that I don't recall the name of. As she described it, it is a technique where she uses the scissors but doesn't cut the hair, but rather uses the blade on the scissors to basically remove some of the thickness of the hair. In the end, Kirsten was very nice, and she gave me a better sense of confidence, but I did not get the end result I was looking for, and am not at all happy, but I don't know what to do about it. I asked if thinning shears would be an option to remove the bulkiness in my hair, but that was not something they thought should be done. I also asked about (what I would call) layering (different lengths around my head to blend the hair into a better look), but this wasn't done either. These people are supposed to be the experts on hair care, but I wasn't left with a great deal of confidence, and now I have to wear the results until it grows out again, and that will take months. My hair is basically all the same length everywhere, and looks awful. I am very hesitant to go anywhere, but I really don't think I will be returning to Tommy Guns.
