I'm sad to say that I no longer trust this group with my child's care after discovering the abundance of unnecessary vaccines that were given which were not required in order to attend California public schools. Instead of vaccinating my child with vaccines that were mandated by the California public school system first, the physicians decided to prioritize other vaccines that were not mandated. Unfortunately, now I'm going to have to rush getting my child vaccinated with the required vaccines because the office does not know California Public school policies. Despite me verifying verbally at every visit that this was required for school, I was still misled. Moving forward I will not trust any office to tell me which vaccines are required for California public schools, I will research this myself. Tough lesson that I had to learn. In addition, all of our appointments with Dr. Reda felt very rushed. Any questions that I tried to ask he answered with one word versus having a more thorough explanation for a first time mom. I should have switched earlier, but stuck with him because no one else seemed to have a problem. Once I started asking around, I discovered that all of my friends that had referred me to the practice had left for the very same reasons. Wish this was something that I would've talked about sooner. I'm writing this in hopes that the office improves their vaccination schedules and communication. It would've helped to have a plan out the gates for my child's vaccination schedule versus a fly by the seat of your pants and see what happens. In other words, a "don't ask questions" approach. It would also be nice to feel like you weren't being rushed in and out of the office.

I have been taking my son to Dr. Katz since he was a newborn. In fact he came to the hospital to do…read morehis first newborn check up. So where do I begin!! Dr. Katz was actually my husbands pediatrician. I know what you're thinking. Whoa! He's old. Right?! :)) Well I happen to think it's an advantage. He's been around awhile, therefore he's seen a lot of babies/kids therefore he's seen.... well a lot. I like that about him. He's even saved a kids life where the parents thought they were bringing in their child due to the common cold(look it up!). Anyways, my favorite thing about Dr. Katz is that he has always been on my side, on my track and followed my mom instincts. It seems as though he's always praising me, and telling me how perfect and healthy my son is. As a new mom(2 years ago), I was always thinking about what I was doing wrong or what I could do to be better. But he always somehow boosted my confidence at all of Vance's appointments. He's always so positive and compliments my mothering. He has never ever told me; "do this" "don't do this" "you should do this" "never do that" ....I'm sure you get the point. But instead he would say things like; "well that's ok" "that seems right" "I don't see anything that I'm concerned with" "you're doing a great job mom!" With Vance, he is such a picky eater. Very much a texture kid. So I'm always concerned with him getting the right amount of food and nutrition. He DOES NOT eat fruits and veggies!! He's always been above average with his weight so that's not a concern. And Dr. Katz even clued me in on how half his kids are either great eaters or poor eaters. Never in between. So when he told me that I felt much better about our situation. He always seems to say the right thing and makes me feel reassured that I'm doing the best job that I can. I am currently pregnant and I know I will be seeing him in the hospital for my little one and continue to bring Vance into see him. He is such an amazing pediatrician. I really have nothing negative to say about this man. He's great with Vance and I know he'll be perfect with the next babe!! If you're looking for a pediatrician I highly suggest Dr. Katz. He just great!!!

After a very brief appointment -- approximately five minutes -- during which Compound W was applied to treat a wart, our insurance was billed and paid the adjusted charges. We were then charged additional out-of-pocket fees on top of that. At the office's direction, we contacted their billing department to dispute the remaining balance due to the minimal nature of the treatment provided. Unfortunately, the charges were not adjusted. We understand healthcare has costs, and we respect medical professionals' time and expertise. However, we believe billing should be reasonable and proportionate to the services rendered. Because of this experience, we've decided to seek care elsewhere. We're sharing this so other families can be informed and ask detailed questions about treatment and billing upfront.

I loved taking my child here over the years. Dr Kraft is amazing. She truly is one of the best…read moredoctors I have ever met. I am not fond of any of the other doctors there, but it's been a good, comfortable place for my kid. But now, to be able to continue to receive the same service I have been getting and expecting for my family, I have to pay an administrative fee of $150-$250 a year (depending on the number of kids that you have). See the attached photo straight from their check-in portal. Otherwise they will charge you for every non-medical service that isn't covered by insurance - such as a call from your doctor about lab results, a vaccination record for your child or a medication refill over the phone. I am shocked and utterly horrified. It's bad enough that our insurance companies rip us off left and right with high premiums, deductibles, and copays, but now my provider is charging administrative fees!?!?? Their excuse - the insurance companies don't compensate us enough so we need the patients to cough it up. Food, housing, clothing, medicine costs have all increased and people are barely making ends meet these days. Incomes have not increased, but the cost of living has. And now, my pediatricians office wants to make more money by charging for simple things that should be included in the overall care my child receives. Sure, I can opt-out...but then what are you going to charge me for? What non-medical charges will I now expect to see on my bill? I called for a refill...how much do you charge for that? I asked for a note for my child's school....how much do you charge for that? These are not things that should ever be something a parent worries about. We have enough worries about our children and putting food on the table. Now I have to have anxiety about more mystery charges appearing on a bill? There was no prior warning about this...no emails that went out to parents and patients, no update on the website...this appeared as I was trying to do a check for my child for their appointment. There is minimal transparency about what you are charging for these non-medical services. I want no part of being at a place that does something like this. I will need to find a new office now...this is so unethical. How many more patients do you think you will lose because of this? I have never been at an office that has ever done this. What are you going to start charging for next??? How sad...customer care and service is now a money making business at Mia Bella Pediatrics.

They quickly saw our son for his urgent eye issue the day after it happened and effectively called in prescriptions so that we could get them quickly. I want to give a special shoutout to Maelynn who is a practitioner but also the head of their billing department, for patiently working with me on a very tedious issue involving our insurance (and medical group). A PSA for others, especially using Anthem BC - your medical group must be clearly written on the card and not every urgent care takes every medical group. 1. Make sure you have the most up to date cards with you. 2. If there is a coverage issue (insurer denying or rejecting the bill, file a grievance quickly as medical groups don't always communicate rejection reasons to your primary health insurance company, and your insurance company can determine which medical groups you should be resubmitting claims. 3. Your insurance company can work with the urgent care center if a bill needs to be resent to a different medical group or reprocessed. Maelynn did an amazing job helping us reconcile what would have been almost $600 in insurer-rejected charges to essentially nothing!

We brought our 3rd daughter here for her 3-day check-up and it was an absolute disaster. Due to the last minute appt, we were only able to see a nurse practitioner. They started by weighing our newborn and telling us she had lost 14% of her weight. They instructed us to start feeding her every hour during the day and every 2 hours all night long. The weight loss didn't make sense since she was latching since we were in the hospital and eating constantly and very well. We asked if it would make sense to weigh her again. The nurse insisted their scale couldn't be wrong and tried to talk us out of it. We pushed and insisted and they finally agreed. Turns out the first weight was completely wrong and her weight was within healthy limits. As a 3rd time mom, I'm glad I trusted my gut, but if this was for my first baby, I would've trusted them and gone home force feeding my completely healthy baby every hour. Our baby also left the hospital 2 days before with a normal jaundice level of 3. The nurse did a visual inspection of her at this appointment and said if she had to estimate, it looked like it was around 15 (greater than 10 is bad). If the blood tests confirmed that, our baby would have to be hospitalized. Again, very concerning information! Because of this, they pricked her foot to get a blood sample. However, the nurse did not get enough blood the first time and they came back and pricked her other foot! My poor baby. The entire process took more than 1.5 hours. They called later with the results and jaundice levels were completely normal! Why would you report all the concerning information to a parent that all turned out to be inaccurate? We asked to speak to the manager and they said they'd look into it and get back to us. Never heard back. My husband wrote a review and someone from customer service said they'd look into it as well. Never heard back. We have found a new pediatrician for all of our daughters and won't be returning here ever.
