When I called to make an appointment they wanted to make me wait a week when I said it was urgent, then they said ok fine the doctor could see me tomorrow at 2pm and they were about to hang up before asking me for any information. When I showed up to my appt they were not friendly and I had to ask if I needed to fill out paper work because I was a new patient. She's like oh ya here you go. Then they made me wait 30 mins before taking my temperature and blood pressure and had me go back to the waiting room. Then she asked for my co payment of $25 in cash only and she didn't tell me when I made the new patient appt that it's cash only so I had to go to 7 Eleven to get cash. I come back and wait another 40 mins and still nothing so I asked for my co pay back and left. Terrible staff. Disgusting office Do not go here !! read more

Dr. Lim is a great gastroenterologist. I've been under his care for a lot of years and he's been very good to me. He's not the talkative type but you can ask as many questions as you want and he'll always answer to the best of his ability. I've read all 5 of the posts and they all complain about impolite staff. Frankly I have met both of his office staff and they both seem very polite. And then there's the complaint that it's dirty??? Are you guys serious? The place is immaculate. I had to make a yelp account to write this. (ZERO STARS) Yesterday, 11/11/2019, I called their office to try and make an appointment. I was just assigned to this doctor a few months ago and did receive my LA Care insurance card with his name on it. However, I misplaced it which I informed them about but I did have my ID number and they should be able to verify my eligibility through their provider login or simply calling LA Care to verify my eligibility(which I know is Active). I was speaking with Genesis who said "No this is a rule he has, you must have the insurance ID card, with his name on it and if you do not then we can not see you". EXCUSE ME? So pretty much I was denied medical help over not having a card on me? I work in the medical office myself, and can not count the many times patients came in without their insurance card present and as long as we are able to find and verify the information they are providing us with matches and/or we would go that extra mile for them and physically just call the insurance company to verify them. There are ways around but it was just so easy for them to tell a patient who needs medical advice "You can not be seen". By the looks of it I am not the first and most defiantly not the last to have a bad experience with this office. I then requested to speak to the manager while Genesis responded by saying " She is only going to tell you the same thing I am" OKAY? So let me hear it from her. I then get Merieda on the line and I calmly proceeded to tell her my concern and asking if there is any way this can be waived this one time because I really needed to speak to a doctor. She then stated they had a meeting 2 weeks ago and this was Dr. Ducks rule and there was nothing she can do I then started to feel frustrated as I am trying to find my insurance card just so I can see my primary care physician. She then said I can call back when Dr. Duck was in office to speak to him. At this point, I was over hearing the same thing over and over. Once I got off the phone I wasted no time in calling LA Care and filed a grievance against them and switching to a different primary care physician. Having read the negative Yelp reviews on Dr. Duck Lim, I decided to still give his office a try out of convenience as it is located near my house. I just returned home from that visit. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised but I am still somewhat in shock at the downright verbal meanness of the doctor to his patients and staff. My first sight of the doctor was when I was waiting in the waiting room. He came out looking glum, not smiling, and looked like he was going through the motions of what it takes to get paid. Still, stoic does not mean lack of skills or lack of compassion so I brushed that aside knowing that that impression is what fueled others' negative reviews of his office. My first interaction with one of his staff members showed that she, too, (due to his leadership and example, or lack thereof) had a "waiting for the clock to hit 6pm" kind of attitude. This, too, I thought was normal even if it wasn't ideal. I then saw him reprimand one of the office workers saying, in front of the other worker as well as in front of the waiting room patients, "When I call you, you need to come right away!" He repeated this twice to her. The office worker looked like she was used to this and just went along with it. Clearly he doesn't understand the value of positive motivation, smiling, great customer service, etc.. When I was called in, I smiled and greeted the doctor. He looked me dead in the eyes, then turned away without verbally or facially acknowledging my greeting and proceeded to the exam room; I just followed. He pointed down at the chair cueing me to sit down. Here's where my negative impression of him and his practice solidified. I came to receive a referral to see a dermatologist for my chronic acne. (For the past 18+ years I have tried the majority of products available over the counter as well as the typical topical and antibiotic pill prescription solutions to acne; none of them work completely.) I had already received a referral to a dermatologist from my previous primary doctor and at the time, MediCal insurance had already authorized a dermatology visit. However, that referral was cancelled because I changed my primary care doctor to Dr. Duck Lim so I now have to do it over again and get him to refer me. He immediately shot the request down saying insurance would not approve. I patiently and positively reminded him that my insurance had already approved the same circumstance a few months before. He seemed to take this personally and as a challenge to his authority, and he said (incorrectly), "there's nothing else that can be done for acne" and "insurance will not authorize a dermatology visit". He reluctantly submitted a request for my visiting a dermatologist. (It ended up getting approved by insurance the next day.) During our time together, he was angry, certainly not compassionate or nurturing (very much the opposite of ideal "bedside manners"). When I asked him to repeat something because I didn't understand (his English is not completely easy to understand), he took it very personally and got angry. He (almost) shouted a repeat of what he said with a tone of anger and then walked away. I was dumbfounded. This happened in the waiting room in front of other people. I just didn't understand why the doctor would just walk away as I was still talking to him. This seemed like someone who is not mentally stable. This seems like someone not fit to care for others because he himself needs help. Overall, his appearance looks like he is not psychologically stable. He looks depressed and angry with life and those who interact with him seem to come off to him as getting in his way. He certainly does not love other humans and for a doctor in charge of taking care of people, this does not bode well and I do not trust that he has my best interests in mind. read more

The office manager was telling her co-worker my health issue in the waiting room which is a big problem. This Dr office should be close down permanently. From Duck to SUCK!!! Yes, that's how horrible this doctor is. We came on a Saturday thinking that it would be convenient as their work schedule is the same hours as mine. Before even saying good morning, he opened the patient's file and literally stared at the insurance card. When he saw that it was a managed care, he went out to his medical assistant and told her something. As soon as he entered the examining room, he informed us that we CANNOT schedule on a Saturday. Worse, he said we need to make an appointment weeks beforehand. If he didn't like payment by capitation, he never should have joined an HMO. What ever happened to Hippocratic oath? OMG...dont ever go to this guy. I was looking for a new local doctor close to my house since my regular one was close to my work. Took one for the team, and wow! this guy is bad. Does not talk to you, you have to ask him for info or if there is anything wrong, and he will give you the shortest answer. The entire time i was going over my health issues, he was picking his nose and wiping it in his shirt....so gross....then he doesn't even washes his hands after. He puts on gloves before he started examining me...but still....that's gross. He leaves the door open in his small office, so everyone hears what you are telling him...i know coz' i heard everything the previous patient had. And after all that, he refers me to another doctor...but asks her receptionist to contact the doctor, and basically recites back in the lobby my entire medical history! In front of everyone in the waiting room! I was just shocked!....Uhhh...can i read that privacy form i just filled up? I was like...excuse me, but we're not in the clinic room anymore....the receptionist was so embarrassed by the doctor's cluelessness and lack of manners. Oh...and it seems the entire staff is scared of him....one of the assistant came in and was asking a question, and she did not hear his foreign accent english...and asked again, he gave her the Sh*t eye look...and raised his voice on her.....i was like...wow...this guy is an a**hole.. So, as i was leaving the receptionist was apologizing for the doc's rudeness...but i was done with this place. If you like a doctor who you cant connect with, is rude to his staff, doesn't care about your privacy,...doesn't have any western sense of hygiene, and maybe a booger stuck on your body once in a while.....go to this guy. Soon as i walked in the smell of garlic in the lobby made me sick. 10 people waiting already. My 10.30 became 11.30...11.45...still waiting. The stench was so bad i told staff i will be waiting outside. Staff not compassionate as usual. Looks like a 60s-70s office. The tv inside stutters and freezes continuously...driving you psychotic. They changed to korean channel no hiccups there... watching a mongolian invasion or something. Can it get worse? Finally at 12, yes, 12pm, (and I had to flag the doctor down or else he was going to see the same elderly patient for the THIRD time since Ive been there) told doctor Ive been here for 2 hours and need to see him now. He reluctantly took me in. Stank of garlic continued with his breath. Never saw a doctor look up a book of mediactions when I told him my condition to prescibe something. Anyways, got my checkup and bloodwork done, paid my copay, and swore to myself will never return and got the fuck out. Can't make this stuff up. They told me to call for bloodwork results in 1 week, did so, and what a surprise...they just told me to call 1 week later got the results a total of 2 weeks later. Good grief. read more

THIS DOCTOR IS THE MOST CROOKED PIECE OF SHIT I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS. I'm not even talking crooked in the sense that it's a chill doctor who will write any scripts you ask for. This fucker only cares about making a quick buck and will not diagnose you to the best of his abilities. I came in for my first and LAST appointment with multiple symptoms. Bronchitis, asthma, and a skin issue. He literally only chose to diagnose me for bronchitis (and gave a shitty script obv cuz he did a poor diagnosis) and insisted I make more appointments for my other issues as if they weren't something that he had the time for... He does this shit simply because he can bill the insurance for multiple appointments instead of just one. He is simply an unethical doctor and I am beyond shocked he is even still allowed to practice. If you choose this trash ass doctor be prepared for some half-assed diagnoses and endless, unnecessary "follow up" appointments. read more

My self sincr i was a kid, when i have a really bad sore throaggt and fever and body is aching ans it doesnt go away with tylenol or pelynosol for my throaght i come here, he gives me a butt cheeck shot and im good asap and thats all. I have been a patient of Dr.Lim's for over 20 years. He has successfully treated my asthma and has kept me out of the Hospital with chronic asthma attacks. His staff is friendly and knowledgeable and treats you like family.I have recommended Dr. Lim to many of my friends and family over the years and I will continue to do so. read more

Dr. Lim has been treating our family for many years. He has helped my mom to be an above average healthy 98 year-old. She has been going to him for over 20 years. I have come in with injuries and infections and Dr. Lim has been good with stitching me up and diagnosing correct causes perscribing the proper antibiotics. His office has been good about helping with appointments on short notice and to give attention when he is busy. Dr. Lim has many regular patients and it does get busy because he is popular in the area. He treats people from all walks of life and cultures. Dr. Lim may be short with answers sometimes but usually he gives very accurate details. He usually will not candy coat your diagnosis. The staff has always been friendly and professional. In some cases when an explanation needs to be spelled out a bit more for patients the staff does well making things understood. His office is pretty big and sometimes minor things may be overheard - for the most part privacy is on par with other offices. We are grateful for his service to our family. read more
