A staple on US Highway 2 in Havre for over 40 years. And friendly service in a comfortable place hasn't changed since my first visit in 1984. Today the Duck Inn has a soup and salad bar at lunch--which is clearly popular. I opted for a table overlooking the highway. And chose what has always been good here--the burgers. BTW the Duck has a BIG menu. My bacon Gouda burger was cooked to order, zesty and tasty. And the side of fries was above average. Quality, quantity, fair prices. Easy to find.

Loved it! We came in town for a family get together and ate here twice. Both times the food was amazing! You can tell the food is fresh, well cooked, and flavorful. The first time I got a hamburger and fries. I don't remember the last time I enjoyed a hamburger at a restaurant this much! It was cooked just right- well done yet still moist and not dripping grease. The fries were perfect! The next time we went I got a Cobb Salad and it was a thing of beauty! I almost didn't want to eat it, but I am so glad I did. I ate every bite! Cheesecake. It has been a long time since I have enjoyed cheesecake this much! The raspberry white chocolate was amazing! So satisfying. Perfect balance of flavors and texture. So good! The peanut butter chocolate cheesecake is also so good! Great balance of both flavors. You've got to try them both!! My family and I agree that the food at Duck Inn is just amazing! If I could come back every week I would!

The chicken cordon bleu they serve. Chicken breast with ham and melted cheese.

Gouda nachos was really good. Well, can't say the same thing about their burger, sandwich, and soup.

Food was okay. Not good but ok. Staff was great. Won't be back. Tasted like it all came from a box.

We had a standard room with two queen beds. Room is quite spacious, with a good size fridge and microwave. Bathroom configuration a bit strange - the sink is in the bathroom but there is also a counter right outside the bathroom where there should usually be a sink. Ok to have more counter space but I kept wanting to find a sink there and getting momentarily confused when not finding one there. Not a problem just unusual. There is a desk and an easy chair. Aircon works well and quiet. Room color scheme is pleasing - modern with muted earth tone colors. Hallway is wide as well as the staircase. Insulation seems to be good as it's quiet and you don't hear any noise from neighboring rooms. Bed is comfy and firm. Room lighting very good and bright. Doors are wide here. Nice staircase, the kind you'd want to use. Adequate breakfast.

It was a seat yourself place, so we did & we were given water pretty quickly. Honestly, we didn't notice any issue, it was busy and we were dazed, however, we were approached with an apology for the delay and confusion- which confused us, ha! She explained that both gals thought the other was helping us, as 2 tables came in at once & turned out neither was. We said it was all good & we really hadn't noticed, they said that they had tho & they were taking off 20% - well, that alone is worth 5 stars. The service, we thought, was great. We only had water to drink but it was never empty and she even asked about ice. We ordered from the specials menu- Kel got the BIG bison burger with the cheeseburger soup for a side, the soup was the star there. I went with the beef sandwich, a twist on the French dip and it was delish! We switch halfway through & I was very bitter about it this time. It came with tons of tasty fries too. The price was insanely reasonable. We tipped back all the savings and still feel like we shorted them. Thanks Yelposphere for this solid stop that we wouldn't have spotted from the road!

However, in terms of it's function as an RV park, I've got serious mixed feelings. It's the most expensive place to camp in town, but perhaps that's because of the amenities: year-round availability; access to the neighboring hotel's swimming pool and sauna; the laundry facilities located at the back of the convenience store; private full bathrooms; friendly staff, and, of course the gas station being right there. There are reasons why I can't give more than 3 stars, though. First reason for a lost star is the camper bathrooms. I don't like their location, especially at night. It was kind of scary to go there, especially as a woman, and I don't think it's lit well enough. I think management relied WAY TOO MUCH on these awful automatic sprayer things to keep the bathrooms smelling nice. But they'd spray on YOU, and then you'd sink like them. A much better solution would be to actually CLEAN those bathrooms more frequently. Like, more than once a day. The second reason (buhbye star 2) is the location of the business itself. It's sandwiched between the train tracks and Highway 2. If you have sensitive hearing and little kids like I do, it was sometimes an exercise in agony between my ears and my fears for my kids safety.... both from the traffic and any potential kidnappers or sex traffickers. Summary: For gas and goodies, it's great, but for RV camping, there are other choices I'd pick first.
