Its great to see that they haven't changed much since the pirate days and are still playing great indie and alternative tunes and unlike most other Irish stations not the usual pop/rock dross. Besides this they still continue to support new and emerging bands and if your an obscure, unknown or just very different sounding band, changes are you'll either listen to or be trying to get airplay on Phantom. I've been listening to the station the last month and really, really like it. Its a bit of musical education. Well worth a listen.

Phantom appeals to me because I'm not the biggest fan of pop or gobshite DJ's. Not to say that…read morePhantom is gobshite free, because it isn't, but it does have a few DJ's with a broad spectrum of musical and local event knowledge as opposed to the Tony Fentons and Gerry Ryans of the world. The music on Phantom is mainly indie, but the odd bit of electro, metal and classic rock can be found meandering the airwaves. It's my favourite station personally but is understandably not to everyone's taste, which I can totally understand. They do try to cover all bases though, while still aligning themselves with the rock idiom. They also have great news bulletins that strike a healthy balance between straight news, entertainment and sport. My two favourite things about Phantom are the support it lends to local acts and the sultry crooning voice of Michelle Doherty. It will melt you. Even you ladies. Give it a go if you're tired of knackers waffling on about early Christmas decorations going up on the Adrian Kennedy phone show.

I could give you quite a few good reasons, but the main ones that have mattered to me, and probably many others, are :- 1. Playlist content : the same 50 songs are played every day, week, month - for the whole year - why !!! - a shocking policy - there are 10's of thousands of great Dance/RnB songs from the past 30 years to choose from - but instead, Spin chooses to bore the life out of it's loyal listeners ... especially the musically-educated ones .... and 2. Playlist realtime : you can spend all day searching for one as you listen to Spin online - but trust me and save your time - a Spin Playlist for every [or ANY] show, does not exist [it's standard practice on any other properly managed DAnce station worldwide...] 3. Morning show : get rid of the three annoying eegits Emma,? Dave? and Ashling ? and their excruciating canned laughter, and play some MUSIC instead :) Thanks for reading

It started a number of years ago and has grown hugely in popularity, particularly with young people. It has a great breakfast show, lunchtime, afternoon and the evening show 'the zoo crew' is hugely popular with kids, particularly those who listen to it when doing they're homework! You'll no doubt se they're popular 'spinnies' floating around Dublin - pink mini's with loads of branding.
