I went to pick up his medication from Walgreens on Summerlin Rd and after a while the girl handed me a bag and I only had a $50. She said I would have to wait for change which took another 10 minutes. There was only one prescription in the bag so we assumed the Dr only prescribed a pain med. TWELVE DAYS LATER Walgreens pharmacy called saying he had a script to pick up! It was 500mg amoxicillin which he should have been taking immediately following the procedure. A dry socket occurred and he returned three consecutive days to the surgeon where assistances syringed & repacked the site. The third day an actual doctor showed up and again repacked the hole... never once did they ask if he was taking his med's or give him any advise to relieve the pain. Both the oral surgeon and pharmacy were negligent. There was a great chance of an infection and/or sepsis could have occurred. My husband has a stint in his heart so if either occurred it could have been fatal. The staff at this office (especially the doctors) did not in my opinion provide proper care or instructions following this procedure. He's now taking the antibiotic he should have been taking and hopefully will heal and feel better soon. Negligence and unconcerned doctors could have cost a life!

I still haven't needed major work. The office staff is friendly but I found my most recent hygienist to be rude perhaps because I chose not to purchase a &750.00 tray to kill bacteria in my gums. I ended up there only because they took my Delta Dental which I'm dropping this month. I've found an individual woman who operates a small practice locally but doesn't accept insurance. Speak to friends and find a dentist they are happy with. For 20 years in another state I had a great dentist. I moved to Florida and my former dentist retired. Ask trusted friends for referrals.

Insurance covers a cleaning? They say you need a periodontal cleaning, it'll be a $197 copay. they also said I needed a crown removed and built up, $600 after insurance. They completely missed the broken filling I have that I knew about already. i didn't schedule an appointment because I wasn't going to pay $600 for work I don't need. They scheduled it anyway. I called and cancelled, somehow no one is tracking that, so I got a bill for $100 for not showing up to an appointment that I didn't want in the first place...

I mean, it was a root canal. Never fun, but I've had a few, and this was "less bad" than others. Their willingness to reschedule several appointments to accomodate my calendar was done promptly and without complaint or fee - of course I was responsible on my end and made the changes timely. And also significant, is that the personal interaction with the Doc and his staff was professional, personable, considerate and caring. I was going to be traveling soon after my root canal so I needed a strong temporary. The Doc built a temp that was comfortable and lasted for many months beyond my expectation, and was still problem free when I got my crown. Later, when I needed the records to be sent to my regular dentist, that was done promptly and again, hassle and problem free. So to be sure, this is the office of Dental Specialties of Ft. Meyers on Cypress Terrace. I cannot recommend them more highly. You never want to need a root canal, but if you do, in my opinion, this is the place to get it done.
