I enjoyed how she encouraged individualism and creativity. Each of us started with the same supplies but had varied end products while learning the same sustainable skills of wreath making! Kyla also taught us a tucking method, so that we could repurpose our decorations and the wreath for other seasons! This further added to the value of the workshop. But there were hot glue guns available for permanent designs as well.

Of course, there we're plant things (watering cans, gloves, seeds, etc.) but there was also home decor items, candles, pillows, swings... I could go on and on! It was actually pretty organized and everything was presented well. When we got outside, to actually shop for what we came for, there were endless amounts of sections and row of flowers. Just beautiful! We were looking for plants on my front patio, which gets full sun. When we were just walking around, an employee asked if we needed his assistance and he helped us find the perfect plants for my house. Checkout seemed chaotic, but it went pretty fast. The line was backed up into the plant section, and we were worried that it would take years to checkout, but to our surprise, very fast! I immediately planted my plants right when I got home, and they look perfect! Such a great plant shop!

Then things went down hill. He said sorry I forgot my tape measure I have to come back and measure. A week later, after we called, he showed up and measured the beds for the plan. A week after that still no plan or bid. We emailed a request for a status update and were told sorry he has been busy and and now he has COVID. A asked when we could expect a bid and was told, we have "no time frame as of right now". That was 2 weeks ago and still nothing. So close to month has gone by and we have never gotten anything from them. Not even an email status update unless we contact them. I get it, they don't want the job. So just call and tell us that. Very disappointed.

I could tell they didn't use pesticides because the milkweed had aphids (this is a good thing because nurseries that use pesticides are bad for caterpillars and butterflies. But I digress. I ended up finding parsley which had eastern black swallowtail caterpillars on them. I swooped those plants up in a jiffy. So now I have five swallowtails in chrysalis and am waiting for them to emerge.

In this regard, I am not my parents' child. They both have green thumbs and love their flowers, which is what brought me to Louisiana Nursery. I stopped by late on a Saturday, I was greeted instantly when I walked through the doors and offered assistance by the cashier. LA Nursery is a large facility on Coursey and is full of everything you need for your gardens. Mulch, pinestraw, vegetables, pots, plants, fertilizer, garden gnomes. Okay I didn't actually see the gnomes, but I imagine they were in the building. I bee-lined it outside to find a plant for mother's day. My mother's garden is lovely and she likes new plants. There were 6 fellas working in the outside section and 6 fellas offered assistance in my 10 minute stroll around the garden. In front of most plants, there are placards offering up helpful info- sunlight, hardiness, ease of care, etc. (I know about plants in theory and on paper.) I was looking for something my Mom didn't already have, since the friendly folks have never seen her garden, that part was up to me. They were helpful in a non-pushy and knowledgeably answered all my questions. The cashier was very friendly, offered up some plastic to protect my car from this new dirty plant and was efficient. They offer some sort of reward program with a punch card. It's free and encourages frequent shopping with a nice in house discount.
