Contrasting the big music shops scattered around the city centre is the bijou Drum.
Located in the courtyard of The Bluecoat, Drum is a distinctive shop that specialises in tribal arts and percussion from the African continent. Beautifully hand-crafted drums, mbiras, rattles and strings are scattered between distinctive sculptures and wooden coffee tables. There's also hand-painted masks and textiles hung upon the bright terracota walls. The thing that will be of most interest to aspiring musicians and world music fans however, is the djembes made from goatskin and mango wood.
