I'm 32, way too old to be doing my driving test for the first time, so, I go in a week in advance to make sure I know where I'm going and to ask a couple of questions. As I wait to talk to someone a tall very grumpy guy walks out of the office, barks an order at some poor sod waiting for his test and they both leave. I think to myself, that looks unpleasant, he looks terrifying, I bet you a bazillion euro I get him as my tester next week.
One week on: Q sits and wait and what do you know terrifying guy walks out and calls my name.
...after I have changed my trousers I join him.
It quickly becomes apparent during the first questions that Q is digging himself into a verbal hole, terrifying man looks sternly and says "I'll stop you there, you are dangerously close to messing that answer up"
From there I relaxed and promptly made a balls of the first manoeuvre in the car, deciding I had failed I relaxed and got on with the rest.
He led me back to the test centre, sat me down and said, "well, first things first, you've passed" honestly I heard very little after that.
I hope everyone's driving test was as memorable, I remember terrifying guy very fondly! read more
