Once upon a time, I got a couple tickets. I was in the process of moving so I didn't get that little card that you got from the court telling you when your court date is. I moved and completely forgot about the tickets. When I went to renew my drivers license, Oopsie, I couldn't renew it because my license was suspended. I honest to God didn't care. My husband drove me everywhere. And I was good with not driving. People are crazy drivers these days. Fast forward to April 29, 2022 - my husband passed away from a heart attack. I had to somehow get my drivers license back. I called Drivers defense and was very pleasantly surprised that they actually took my phone call and they received my drivers abstract for me. They then asked me if I wanted them to defend me in my ticket case and I said what the heck why not. My tickets were so old that they did not exist anymore. No one could find my tickets. Drivers defense explained to the judge my situation, and the judge dismissed my case. It isn't even on my driving record. Drivers defense is not a scam. You really really really need to avail yourself of their services if you have all tickets new tickets or a DUI. They are utterly fantastic. read more

Kelly was my attorney. She told me my DUI would be off my record but didn't specify it wouldn't be expunged.. have being my first ever offense I had no idea about any of this until after and it's still showing on my record. Avoid these guys at all costs. My lawyer came to court unprepared for trial, offered no defense, introduced no evidence, asked no intelligent questions and made no attempt to challenge the testimony of a witness who was lying through her teeth under oath. All he did was show up, get me convicted of an offense I wasn't guilty of and collect his fee. It was a complete farce. These guys have listings under multiple names on Yelp so make sure your lawyer isn't affiliated with this firm before hiring anyone. They act like they're interested in your case until you give them your credit card for a retainer then after they have your money they can't get you off the phone fast enough. When I was looking for a lawyer I had no intention of hiring Driving Defense Team but at least 3 of the 5 lawyers who responded to my inquiry were actually part of this firm. I can't stress this highly enough--do not hire Driver Defense Team. Since my response to the owner of this firm does not show up on Yelp and what he wrote is not accurate I am updating my review to include my response: I never contacted Driver Defense Team through Yelp. I contacted 5 lawyers who were listed on Yelp as practicing under their own names but 3 of the 5 turned out to be from Driver Defense Team. The lawyer who responded to my message on Yelp and asked for my phone number was not the one who contacted me. The facts were not against me. The insurance company knew that the other party was lying as soon as they saw the crash photos because the crash damage doesn't correspond in any way with her story. The damage both of our automobiles sustained was impossible if her car was traveling 20 mph. It was actually traveling 40-50mph which is why both of our cars were completely totaled in the accident. Your inept lawyer made no attempt to challenge the story of the other driver who was lying under oath and introduced no evidence even though I provided you with the same crash photos the insurance company has. Her car looks like she had her foot pressed down on the accelerator and drove directly into a brick wall which does not match at all with her story of cautious driving at a safe speed. Thanks to your lawyer's inept performance her false story has now been validated in court, my insurance has no choice but to pay her claim even though they know she is lying, her insurance won't pay for damage to my completely totaled automobile and personal injury attorneys are telling me that they can't represent me since I was found at fault in court. Your lawyer's complete incompetence has had devastating consequences for my life. The girl's 20 mph story could have been easily called into question by simply presenting the crash photos. I also provided you with the contact information for a witness who said she was speeding and caused the accident but your office never contacted him. Your lawyer presented no evidence whatsoever. I was never told by your lawyer, your firm or anybody else that the facts were against me because they weren't--everything in the crash report was easily disproved because it was completely inaccurate but your lawyer dismissed the crash report as being of no importance and made no attempt to challenge it or ask the police officer who wrote it a single question about the contents. When the prosecutor asked the officer about the position of the vehicles and he stammered and said he didn't remember (which contradicted his own report) she knew to stop asking him further questions but your lawyer apparently wasn't even paying attention. I had assembled plenty of evidence that the driver was lying and brought it to court (and sent some of it to your office via email) but your lawyer didn't even understand WHY I wanted to introduce any evidence and never offered any in the proceeding. Finally writing a long overdue review for the assistance rendered to me by Maria Torres and her colleagues at DDT. My circumstances were rather unusual. I received an out of state speeding ticket in Ohio (tragically deserved since I was driving very fast to get to a client site on an emergency). Long story somewhat shorter, two different computer Snafu's in OH misreported that I both had not paid the fine, but also would not allow me to pay again as I just wanted to clear up the mess even though I had. Submitting the cancelled check to Illinois didn't clear up the issue either and neither did submitting the payment receipt from the Ohio DMV. I was stuck in a bureaucratic, computer glitch hell and I couldn't get out. The solution given to me by DDT was to get copy of a court transcript stating that the matter was closed and then submitting that to the Secretary of State in Illinois along with their bribe/fine/pound of flesh to get them to allow me to reapply to get a new DL. That did the trick. I still wouldn't have my license if not for Maria. I am so grateful. She gave me the approach, the reassurance that it was going to be OK and even the backdoor phone number where a real live human being answered the phone at the Secretary of State. I would love to at least buy her a drink or ten to show my gratitude. Thank you Maria!!! read more

I went to Mr Derek with four tickets including speeding, driving too close, no signal and unsafe lane change. He managed to have all tickets dismissed in an orderly, timely and professional manner. I would highly recommend him. read more

I was a little wary hiring a law firm off of the internet even thought they had great reviews and I checked out the lawyers backgrounds on LinkedIn. My mother was in a car accident and was issued two tickets even though she was rear ended. I dealt primarily with Esmeralda one of the legal assistants. She could not have been more professional and understanding. In the end the lawyer got both tickets dropped without my 84 year old mother having to appear in court. When it comes to traffic violations they really know what they are doing and the fee is very reasonable. I highly recommend Driver Defense Team. read more
