That was never mentioned or posted anywhere, and of course I'm going to want to take pictures of my kid... we were excited to be there and it was adorable to watch! It clearly wasn't an issue for other parents to take pictures of their kids as there are several photos of classes on yelp and Facebook. Anyways, she didn't ask to screen my pictures, just told me I can't take pictures. Fine. Halloween comes and they have a trick or treat event for the kids. One of the aunties who helps with the performances and outfits makes a comment that it's too bad my child is a boy. So okay, I learned all I needed to about this hula hui from that comment. Didn't send him back after that. Horrible.

Back then, we were at the KCC Chapel and I have many fond memories of cleaning, loading/unloading for performances, bonenkais, and hours of blood (mostly just blisters), sweat, and tears from laughing and having so much fun together. Thank you TCP for continuing to support the community with this art form. I hope to one day be able to show my child (if I have one) what a great sport/art form/culture taiko is!

I believe that what she (and I, as a parent) got out of her experience there, laid the foundation for her place in life. Ballet sets the foundation for all types of dance, and she learned not just what ballet teaches, but also, (equal to any major sport) it teaches resilience, perseverance, commitment, and confidence. We now hope those same skills and life lessons will be learned by my granddaughter, who just took her first Keiki dance class there today, at the age of 2 Watching her prance around, jump, and interact with the other students bright back many fond memories. The instructors there are very talented, and patient. They offer a wide variety of classes, tailored to all ages; from 2 to 82. The studio is located on the second floor, located in the campus of Saint Andrew's Priory, and during evenings and weekends, parking is available right on campus next to the bldg. I would definitely recommend QEB to any parent who is looking for a great dance studio, or something that provides structure for their son or daughter; or grandchild.

I have been going to Mr. Teves' bachata lesson & dance social (Bachata Lovers) on off for about six months. And even took one of his workshops. I was always a fan of his teaching style, and always learned something new at Bachata Lovers. That's why I decided to take the next step, and sign up for private lessons. There really is no substitute for that one on one time, where an individual's specific dance issues can be addressed.

The instructor still taught me some tricks for leading that I will definitely carry with me. She is able to project her voice very well so the class can hear her fine. She has great crowd control and awareness of our different skill levels. My only real complaint, the DJ during the social. I showed up thinking it was a bachata night, and they continued to play salsa music. This is honestly common for venues to play bachata and salsa, but it usually says bachata and salsa night. I don't really know salsa, so that's why it bothered me. Anyways, I definitely plan on coming back if I make it back to Honolulu. I had a really good time.

But after an evening with HSO, I learned he is the genius for literally scores of many notable Disney movies including Batman, Star Trek, Up, Coco, Zootopia, the Incredibles, Ratatouille.... Etc... The diversity of his music and how it is able to create both nuanced and bold feeling to the audio backdrop of so many different kinds of movies is truly Incredible! Leading this talented group of musicians, was the charismatic, artistic, athletic and cutie conductor, Dane Lam. I am sheepish to admit, I wasn't super excited to hear the symphony since I am a balletomane who has been much more into the visual spectacle of dance and musical theater with secondary appreciation for the music in the background. They totally exceeded my expectations for entertainment value and I thoroughly enjoyed the musical performance! What an awesome alignment of forces- composer, conductor, and musicians coming together to share the gift of music with the audience! What made it even more entertaining was the brief introduction of each piece by the humorous and articulate director and resident composer Dr Michael Thomas Foumai who made quick costume changes for each movie score. I am so grateful to be living in a city that has a symphony we can be proud of. I know that funding is always an issue so I hope that Honolulu can continue to sustain this uber talented group of musicians and our world class conductor! They need an audience as well as funding .... so GO HEAR THEM!

Compared to Manoa Valley Theater, Kaimuki High School's Performing Arts Center has a large parking lot and seems like the interior can accommodate a bigger audience. The air conditioning was great! We didn't look for the restroom. The Box Office was easy to find. The seats were well labeled and the aisle was wide enough for people to walk by while others were seated. Why minus one star? There was a guy sitting in front of me, blocking my view. I'm not sure if he was just tall or if it's because the seats weren't elevated like stadium seating. Also, sometimes the spotlight wasn't on the main character - possibly a human error or not enough equipment? Anyway, it was a clean, safe environment. Our masks needed to be worn while indoors.
