I was familiar with the owner because I follow her on social media and I was familiar with some of the staff - including Jenny! it was cool to meet them in person after seeing them online for so many years. Anyway, they gave me a bougie boutique experience! My husband and mother were with me - Jenny and Carin made room for them to sit and wait while I shopped...which removed any pressure for me to hurry through browsing (smart thinking ladies!!). I ended up purchasing a glorious bag. I will absolutely continue to shop with them online and expect to return in person very very soon soon!

The whole experience was strange, to say the least. An older lady in the store was filming me and behaving quite oddly throughout the visit. It was uncomfortable, and she didn't seem to know how to treat customers well, especially those clearly there to spend or sell high-value items. Prepared to be profiled by your looks. Instead of professional service, I was met with strange behavior and an overall weird vibe. She eventually recommended I go to "Rebag", which was the one helpful part of the visit. I wouldn't return due to the awkward treatment and lack of professionalism. I think she knew I was famous ? Very weird experience. Idk. - @dannywolf

The location is perfectly situated on Miracle Mile. I try and shop here whenever I'm in this area. The clothes and items here are high quality and definitely made well, with solid materials. The value for your money is definitely there because of the quality. The staff is excellent. Extremely attentive and helpful. I was looking for a dress and ended up with a phenomenal jumpsuit suggested by the store Manager, she is magnificent. Unfortunately, I didn't get her name so I'm unable to name her directly - but she's a doll. I will most definitely be back here when I can and am so happy with my fabulous purchase.

However, it is a very good little store and people must know. Essence is tucked away on Miracle Mile, right next to the Crepe Maker. Just by looking at the window, you'd think that it's just another expensive boutique on The Mile that you can only afford a shoe. On the contrary, Essence carries the last est fashion at a very competitive price, especially for Miracle Mile. They only carry 1 of each S/M/L sizes per item, so it's first come first serve. Besides the clothes, they also carry a nice selection of shoes and accessories. You can walk out of the store in all new gear from head to toe. It's my addiction, I'm there at least once a week and walk out with at least two things ( I hate just buying one thing, it's like what's the point) and I hope you don't wear my size.

Last time I came I was looking for a flowy, strapless white top and with the help of a young woman found a few to choose from. As far as other posts regarding being followed. I'd say it depends on your perspective; I like to think of it as having my own personal shopping assistant ready to help answer any questions I may have. Take advantage, you can ask for pricing and sometimes they can help with sizing and fit as well. Prices are very reasonable, and while it has some cute, trendy clothes (nothing of high quality), you aren't allowed to try anything on. This was the biggest problem for me because even though I found a pair of linen pants, there is no way I could buy them without trying it on first. So if you want to shop here, I recommend coming in leggings and a small tank so you can slip on the clothes without needing a fitting room. (But don't let them see you ... I think the rule is that you aren't allowed to try stuff on... not just that they don't have fitting rooms.) And I was followed around for several minutes (in case I steal something??) before I turned to the sales person and asked her if I was in her way. She said no and left me alone. Accessories are very lacking. Small selection of bags and shoes.

I saw the Mikael sequin dress online but wanted to try it on before purchasing so I called the store yesterday (Friday) to see if they had it. The girl I spoke to over the phone was so nice and so accommodating. She took down my information and told me the dress was available in my size and in both colors as advertised online and that they would hold it for me to try on in store. I asked her where the store was located and she indicated that it was off of Kendall Drive and SW 137th Ave, next to Dandy Bear. I asked her about the stores business hours and what would be the best time to pass by, and she told me they were open till 8 PM and that I should go by today (Saturday) because the dress wouldn't be ready till today (again, Saturday). I specifically asked about the best time because Lotus Couture is located right up the street from my house so I could have come to try it on YESTERDAY but she insisted it wouldn't be ready till TODAY. When I arrived to the store (literally less than 30 minutes ago - I just left) the girl at the counter told me they'd sold the dress yesterday and they didn't have any left! I am so upset about this complete disregard and lack of customer service. I would have bought the dress yesterday had the girl over the phone told me it was available, but she told me it wouldn't be because they had to pull it from storage and it wouldn't be available till today! I can't believe that I was stood up like this, what a TERRIBLE first impression. I had my heart set on trying on this dress and purchasing it for my trip to Vegas. Thanks for nothing Lotus Couture!

So I walked in and there was another customer there the girl that worked there (very young btw) As I walked in I was never greeted or welcomed to the store. I looked around the store and was never offered any help, only when I grabbed something I was offered a fitting room. As I'm in the fitting room I can hear the girl having a full blown LOUD ASS conversation with a girl who apparently was her friend and was just sitting there talking to her and not paying attention to the customers in the store, they were talking about stupid things (high school problems lol) "omg I can believe she puts premium gas in her Honda" "omg when im a mom i wanna be like Kourtney Kardashian, not a fat mom" "omg remember when we were in camp and didn't do anything we literally ate shit all day" .. it was just an unpleasant shopping experience. When I asked her for a different size she pointed to the rack without offering help herself because she was too busy having a conversation with her friend. When it was time to be rung up please tell me why her friend (who does not work there) said "I want to do it" SHE LET HER FRIEND RING ME UP!!! When it was time to sign her friend was sitting on one of the chairs therefore she was in the way so I literally had to reach over her to sign the screen.... I guess it's cheaper to hire unprofessional high school/ young ass kids to work at this boutique. Never again!!!!! Also the same day my friend called to ask for bathing suit sizes and said they had a bunch. She made it there literally 2 minutes after she called and they said "oh we just sold out" REALLY???? Never again will I shop at this shitty customer service store. As far as the clothing, you are better off shopping at fashionnova.com or windsor.com and you don't have to deal with poor customer service. 11 MONTHS LATER ....... THE OWNER RESPONDED: 7/9/2018 Hi, I hope this message finds you well. Your review was responded to, just as we have always responded to all our other reviews, but unfortunately, yelp is not showing our responses. As we responded last time, we apologize that was your experience. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service. Lauren the employee who was helping you that day, does not recall the experience as you recall it. I checked the video footage and it also does not correlate with the story you have given. However, I do respect your feelings and I am sorry you felt that way. Alyssa, the friend, was an employee who was not on shift at the moment. As for the age, we are an equal opportunity employer, we offer employment opportunities to anyone over the age of 18, we offer work experience, and provide employment to the future of our city. So yes at times we do hire girls that are 18 years old, because we do not discriminate due to age. We train them effectively in customer service so they can grow to be respectful individuals. As for Kelsey, we have never employed someone by that name, so we are not quite sure where you got that idea from. You are free to come into the store and check our employment history to verify we have never had a Kelsey. Wishing you well! The Team At Alka Couture MY RESPONSE: First of all, you really went back to review cameras from 11 months ago? hmmmm OK. Second of all, why was someone who was not on the clock ringing me up? Sorry I felt that way? YOUR EMPLOYEES were having personal LOUD conversations in your very small store which made the shopping experience unpleasant not to mention I was not even acknowledged or greeted when I walked in. I find it very funny that you don't know who Kelsey Q is but yet you follow her on Instagram and is the same girl that was there that day. Again, unprofessional customer service and I will not shop there even if it was free. I do not care for your employment history record and no thank You I do not care about the children that you employee but do not properly train, I don't have that type of time to come in to check anything because I DON'T CARE! Have a great day.

What keeps me coming back though is the customer service. The employees are consistently attentive and genuinely nice. They've checked the stockroom, searched other locations for my size, and always go the extra mile. A special thank you to Jeremy and Yackie for always taking such great care of me.
