Despite the heading, I really live in Colorado Springs, not San Francisco!…read moreI have used B&J on two major projects: construction of a new bathroom (not remodel, but from scratch) and remodeling of an existing bathroom. They were responsive, reliable, and efficient. The workers were wonderful--courteous, obviously knowledgeable, and a pleasure to have in my home. The first project included not only the creation of a new bathroom, but refurbishing the entire basement ceiling and associated work. The crew was careful to protect the surrounding area of the house and meticulous in cleaning up. The second project involved converting an existing bathroom to ADA compliant standards. My 95-year-old father was in a rehab facility, following a bad fall. I told B&J, "You have three weeks, starting now." They completed the project, and added a customized railing along the hallway as well. Their costs were quite reasonable on both projects; on the first, I took bids from five other contractors. B&J won--they were mid-range in the price, but their attitude was what truly sold me. I never doubted my choice! The second project? I didn't bother with competitive bids; (a) I had a deadline to meet, and (b) B&J had already proved themselves to me. I am getting ready to call them for a third and fourth project: powder room modernization and full kitchen remodel. Again, I probably won't bother with competitive bids--unless there has been a 100% change in personnel, B&J is probably going to deliver the same outstanding results they have twice before!

Excellent customer service! So, because of Covid, in the beginning it was a little tricky to try to…read moreget someone to get a hold of me and it took a couple of days. But after that little hiccup, it was smooth sailing the whole way. I am in the process of having my basement finished and went to a couple different places to get quotes. In the course of conversation I learned that this is who the builder used to put in the original cabinets. After speaking to Dave Lang on the phone, he was able to send me the original blueprints since they already had them on file. I made changes on those blueprints because the dimensions were different, but I sent that back to him, he used his expertise to make the changes, with a few excellent recommendations, and sent it back to me for review. These cabinets were more expensive than the other places I had received quotes from, but after the way he handled this initial interaction I was very impressed and decided to pay the extra. On the day my contractor was here to install the cabinets we discovered that the shelf was missing. Dave, once again, to the rescue. The shelf was delivered to my house within two hours of me contacting him and telling him it was missing. Excellent customer servicefrom sales. Taking off a star simply because they were difficult to get a hold of it first and it was also difficult to get a hold of the warehouse to schedule delivery. I suspect this is related to Covid and not having someone to answer the phones. I said it in the beginning and I'm saying it at the end. Excellent customer service. I would absolutely recommend them!

We met him at the showroom off of Powers and spent a good hour there going over plans and making decisions on cabinetry, etc. The following week he came to my house to measure and make notes, he then said he would work up plans and an estimate and get back within a week. Despite several emails and calls...he never returned my calls or ever wrote back....just flat out ignored me. Don't do business with this company. They will waste your time. I can't imagine if they actually did a job...what a nightmare that would have been.

If those things were the only thing we rated on I would give them a 5. HOWEVER we had our kitchen done last summer and we were told it was going to be a 3 day install. We all can suck it up for 3 days right? We did the gutting out and floor tiling prior to them starting the install. There was a 1 man install crew for 2 weeks then the 3rd week a 2 man crew showed up (only after we began to complain about the time it was taking and the limited progress daily). It took 3 weeks to get 9 top cabinets in and 9 bottom cabinets in. We had to take time off work to be home during this time and when we were unable to be home, make arrangements for others to be here. (I should note that the contractor acknowledged and validated the extensive install however Joy didn't see this as a problem because the countertop couldn't have been installed for that time period anyway......ummmm but we could have got the appliances put in allowing us to cook and not have a living room full of dishes, tupperware, food etc! not cool) My husband called and went in to verify how to cut the area for the pantry, I will add he is skilled at this kind of work. He was given specific instructions and cut it accordingly however when the cabinets came they didn't fit and Joy indicated "that is what happens when homeowners do things on their own". No! Either the directions were wrong or the cabinets were inaccurately ordered. Either way.... the trim didn't flow with the rest of the kitchen. When we pointed this out to Joy she didn't see the flaw (although everyone that saw it agreed it didn't flow). We have since made alterations to it on our own to make it flow and it looks great now. Ultimately we love our new kitchen and would not likely use Kitchens by Design again based on our experience.
