Consumer Warning: $1,000 Charged for Zero Services; JusticeNet Rules Ignored…read more I am writing this review to warn others about my experience with Caleesis Telesh. I hired her through the JusticeNet program, which is designed to help low-income individuals access legal help at capped rates. In my case (ODSP), the rate was capped at $130/hour. The Issues: Predatory Billing: Before performing any work, she required a $1,000 payment via e-transfer. She never provided a written retainer or a signed contract outlining the scope of work, which is a standard professional requirement. No Results: I was seeking help with a license reinstatement. After paying her, I received no legal documents or proof of work. In the end, I resolved the issue myself with one phone call to the insurance provider, as confirmed by an email from Allstate Insurance on Jan 9, 2026. Refusal to Refund: Despite doing zero work, she refused a refund and produced an "interim invoice" after the fact, labeling the $1,000 as a "consultation." Based on JusticeNet rates, an $885+HST consultation would require nearly 8 hours of time, which never happened. Professional Record: Prospective clients should be aware that this lawyer has a public record with the Law Society of Ontario (Case 2023 ONLSTH 117) regarding professional conduct. I have filed a formal fraud dispute with my bank and am in the process of a Law Society complaint. If you are looking for a lawyer who follows program rules and provides transparent billing, look elsewhere.

He is now under investigation, by the Law Society of Upper Canada, which issues his license. David Rubin and his client, Salim Manji, who represents my landlord, Barney Rivers Investment Inc. changed the lock on my apartment door illegally, the day after I had paid my rent, of almost $1200.00. Rubin as far as I know, never advised his client, that he was breaking the law and that only the Landlord and Tenant Board, can issue an eviction order, to evict me. The illegal action, of locking me out of my home, without an order of the Board, by David Rubin's client, was also supported by him. Others have written reviews about him, that he represent landlords and in my case, he went too far. As a paralegal, he can be disciplined for his actions, by the Law Society, that goes against the Code of Conduct, including, interfering with the administration of justice and knowingly helping his client, to break the law. As far as ethics goes, concerning the legal profession and his practice, David Rubin, has none.

They immediately put me in touch with Dr. Josh Brandis, part of the Toronto Accident Rehab group, who visited my home for a month and a half to help me heal . Michelle Kudlats was in charge of my case and she did an amazing job helping me through all the blazing hoops. It was by no means an easy case because the driver did not have a license or insurance (and then he disappeared!) But Michelle kept fighting and she and Dr. Brandis made sure I did not pay a penny for ANY of my health expenses. When the settlement finally came through I was thoroughly shocked about the amount of money I received. I can tell you it was about 5x what I was expecting to get. I think many lawyers get you in and out of their system as fast as they can, committed to getting you a settlement, but not willing to put in a lot of extra effort. Michelle did this for me and I am very grateful!
