Are you looking for a top notch gym in the Inspirada/Anthem area? Look no further! Before I started training at Neale Hoerle BJJ, I started my BJJ journey at another gym in California. Circumstances brought me to Nevada, and I was lucky enough to find this gym. I've been training here for over 2 years now, and am enjoying my time here. I've been to numerous BJJ gyms and I normally look for the following: Cleanliness, teaching, and culture.
Cleanliness: Being that this is a contact sport, sanitizing the mats is a must! NH thankfully takes this seriously and thoroughly cleans the mat after each class.
Teaching: Classes are led by Prof. Neale who is a 3rd degree black belt. I've been to many BJJ gyms, and I can say he is the best instructor I've ever had. He breaks down technique in a methodical way that is very easy to understand, and is patient in walking you through it. As someone who is a bit of a slow learner, this is a big plus! They also have afternoon classes that are led by the senior students (Mark and Gabby), who are also fantastic teachers. In the time I've been here, I feel I have grown exponentially in terms of skill acquisition.
What I appreciate most is that you get lots of feedback from the professor and higher ranks, something that is harder to find in more commercial gyms.
Culture: This is probably the most important criteria for me when looking for a gym. From my first day, everyone I've encountered has been super friendly and welcoming. The school emphasizes safety and being mindful of your training partners. The tap is sacred and is highly respected!
What I also appreciate is that there is something for everyone. We have a nice mix of hobbyists like myself and those who like to compete. Nothing is forced upon, and you are welcome to train at your own pace. There is a women's only class and kids class offered as well.
All in all, I am thankful to have found my home gym. I can't recommend Neale Hoerle enough and encourage you to check them out! You're always welcome to do a trial if you're on the fence. Oss! read more
